Basically the only colours you'll need are:

<FONT COLOR="#00cc00"> This is the green that I use for the subtitles

<FONT COLOR="#ffff00"> This is the yellow that I use for player names

Remember, a news update is not a colourbook. It's fine if you want to use more colours than those two, but don't start to highlight every single letter.

(Actually, that would be really cool if someone did that)

This might be the time to suggest a lighter shade of blue that is easier to read against the dark background. I would also like the font not to be bold throughout.

@Nicola: Well, I thought you already have enough work with the MK7 site, as Mick is away for a while.

@all: Thanks for the help so far.
Is that all there is to it?
If I write a news now, how do I know how much a player has improved? Should I just look at the AF table and think like "ok he lost 2 AF points since the table got zero'ed, so with 2 more AF points he would be at position X"?
If so, I will probably be done with a news tomorrow evening  Cool

Yes basically that's all there is to it, I also often check the yahoogroups to see how much PRs someone sent in or to search for good PRs. There also was a site that tracked some stats, I'll look if I can find the link for you, though it doesn't really work that good.

Otherwise check for new players and also check the WRs topic to see new latest WRs and mention them.

Ok, then go on with the news! Wink

Charts are usually zero'ed after every news, so you can rely on that.

Has anyone decided what's going to happen to the "Past Champs" page? It still lists Fenner as the champ, and Andy's crown isn't even referenced.  Tongue

Well done on your first news, I enjoyed reading it, and being a train too Cheesy
But really, thanks for getting the news done and becoming a times updater, I feel guilty not doing so myself, but I will certainly offer to do so once my exams are over Smiley

Oh wow -- I didn't even notice that. Let me have a look at that -- Andy can definitely be added. As for Fenner, that is probably still a...delicate subject, so not something I want to make any hasty decisions on, but anyone that wants to put in their two cents on that is welcome to PM me.

Don't post here about it -- I'll delete anything Fenner-related that I see.

Is it already written in the home page? (I can't see it, that's why I'm asking...  Undecided)

Edit: nvm... I clicked on the home first and nothing happened, then I refreshed the page and it showed up. I don't get why but it's not important anymore. Smiley

Thanks everybody Smiley

@Shock: Well I got inspired by TvK saying it would be cool if somebody would write a whole news in different colors... but that would have been a little bit too much work for me Happy so I just googled the rainbow color codes Tongue

I think it would only actually be deleted after the files are rebuilt. This can only manually done by admins (I think, as I can't do it), or it happens automatically when a new update appears.

The same applies, files have to be rebuild before the changes are shown.

But you can always Preview a news before posting it to test things.

I think the default view for Total Times should be combined as opposed to courses. Combined is the total; tallies for the subcategories should be secondary.

Man, i am disappointed. Came back after almost an year when i did absolutely nothing and thought updaters actually DID something. Where are the POMs? March, May, June and July missing.

Seriously, wimmi, if you have spare time check the updates and give the awards. That would be awesome.

I'm sorry.

Once I became an updater, other updaters got more and more active again, so I stepped back, as I thought the site would be rolling anyways, and focused on the MK7 section.

But I will reward all the missing awards over the weekend.

I remember updating around 3 POMs and 10-20 POWs at some point that were never added to the site a couple months ago. Please bear in mind that this place is entirely run by volunteer work, and nobody is under any obligation really to do frequent updating. Updating the awards has tended to be a background task that people have viewed as a fun add-on to the site. When it comes to major things like staying on top of time submissions and writing news, overall I don't think the MKSC team has done too badly at all.

Edit: I guess your entire first paragraph could be sarcasm but I'm having a hard time telling if it is or not.
