I hope you consider adding these to the already great videos that people have submitted to thengamer.

Added.  If anyone knows of any good vids that aren't on there yet, just let me know through AIM and I'll add them.  It's cool when all the vids are in the same place and easy to find.

true that is one of the flaws in the system

Yes, exactly. The system is flawed, therefore it needs to be changed. Calling the records "site records" instead of WRs would solve the problem. Then there would be a reason to disregard Japanese scores.

how would this solve the problem of ppl submitting false times and stuff like the Hab Incident from occuring? and if you have any better suggestions for a proof system please inform us... im sure the admin would be very interested in a better system if one existed

The scores were real, just not his. If we are going to call the records here world records then it should be acceptable to submit other people's times for the record list.

Those times were submitted with Luke and Troy's permission... even though they were submitted under Eric's name... thats totally different that taking a time off a website and submitting it just because its better

The scores were real, just not his. If we are going to call the records here world records then it should be acceptable to submit other people's times for the record list.

As I said, it's impossible to 100% guarantee anything, we just do the best we can.  People aren't supposed to lie about identity.  If you submit other people's WRs as your own then you'd probably get caught because people would probably recognize the vids.

There's no hard proof for either argument. For all we know the Japanese site may be larger than this one. No community should declare superiority over another.

Why not claim that one site is more official?  The players' page has the characteristics of an official site more than the Japanese site.  And just being large alone doesn't make a site official.  If I start a new site today and I tell 2000 people in my school to submit times of 1:12 for F8C, does that make it make it more official than the players' page?

No vids, but pics and strats. Sounds very credibible, even without the vids.

Can you post a link to some strats he's typed up?

Yes, so why not complete the clarification by changing it to site records and not world records? Why are you letting your irrational conservatism prevent such a simple change? What harm could it possibly cause?

Are you just gonna keep on repeating the same thing hoping that I'll get bored and you'll win by default?  For the 23rd time, same reason Guiness doesn't change it to "book record".  It just sounds silly and it's pointless.

The MK world isn't contained in this little bubble you call the most official site. Not only are there a decent amount of people here who support my argument, but tons from large communities such as GameFAQs, Nintendo (yes, I'm aware most there are imbeciles), cyberscore, the SSBM community, and various other places.

Alright, change "3" to "tons".  Either way it's not a popular majority so my point still stands.

cool to see how the top players ignore the fact that the japs kick their arses hard. very sad...

so much for their respect for japanese players.

i start to dislike this site for calling it's times "world records"...in fact most of them just aren't...

I don't ignore the jap records. I know they have alot of WRs. But you have to remember those records are not by just 1 single japanease person and Japan has alot of players so it is not surprising that alot of japanease have WRs Wink

I know that this site's top 3 or maybe even top 5 represents the REAL top 3 / top 5 in the world. so don't feel attacked in that point

Lars! Smiley ...and wow, you're tied with Fried! Shocked ...way to go to become #1 for you or Fried!

back to topic...it was mainly about some "World" Records, that this site claims to be "World" Records, but in fact...aren't "World"

Records. (coz Japan belongs to this "World" i think...)

but sully's post sounds also very correct to me. we should get those japs to submit their times! Smiley

I'd really like to see that! BDash or Robin could help us here!!! or anyone who speaks japanese!!!

If we let the Japanese people join and submit their times, will we allow them to use PRB?  Or we will make them conform to our rules, so we can truly see who is better on a level playing field?

^They would most likely have to submit their PRB times to the PRB charts. That could maybe also put some life into those charts. Right now they're kinda sad :/

Heh, np Tim. It just sounded to me like you meant that the top players here were all ignoring anyone else, wich i know we don't. I don't ignore the japanease players more than players here. And about japanease always being good and honest in games is also not true. You don't automaticially get good at games because you're from Japan, and online i've met lots of japanease D/C'ers Wink

And yeah i tied Fried Cheesy Didn't expect to do that with just one PR improvement xD

I think we should make them conform to our rules, their times would be pointless to compare to otherwise...unless this site decides to use PRB like the Japanese do.

Are you just gonna keep on repeating the same thing hoping that I'll get bored and you'll win by default?  For the 23rd time, same reason Guiness doesn't change it to "book record".  It just sounds silly and it's pointless.

"Guinness World Records" is the actual name of the company. That gives them an excellent reason not to change it. This website is called "Mario Kart DS Player's Page" Therefore this website is not comparable to Guinness. If Guinness decided to change the technical name of the scores to "book records," it would cause discrepancies. The current system here already causes a discrepancy by admitting the scores here are not the WRs, but calling them WRs anyway. This can be fixed by simply changing the name to "site records" or something along those lines.

Also, I can't locate the places where the Japanese havwe discussed strategies. I found it by browsing with a translator (a pretty bad one too >_>) and I can never figure out how to navigate those websites anyway. >_>

Alright, change "3" to "tons".  Either way it's not a popular majority so my point still stands.

The 50-75 supporters here outnumber the rest of the world's hardcore gamers? >XD
Don't just say that only Mario Kart players apply. This dispute is about calling the scores here the world records. Other massive communities have merit when criticizing this claim, and they already have.

Just let him drown in his ego.. when I read his post it becomes clear to me that he thinks his voice is the most important one.. allthough he is wrong.. proven several times allready.. by you, me and others.. maybe we can call ourselves proof mods.. he doesn't make a stand no more, especialy his last reaction was absurd..

PRB Rules, you can only use PRB if it's natural (unlike GBA LC) and when the path normally wouldn't waist time.

this should be the prb rules, im not sure if i said it politically correct or whatever, but this should be the only rules, no exceptions.

They should just accept PRB, even though I would probably be out of the top 100, but in some things, like the RBP flap, I would be in the top 10.

The site clearly says that it dosn't have the fastest times, there are people out there that don't even time trial that much that have better time trials then this site, you can't call the records on these sites wr's because they aren't worl records.

I meant natural as in, whatever route wouldn't waist time if you didn't use the prb.

@speedzoom, they aren't world records, because the french and japs have stronger records then us with prb, so those are the world records, you can say that this site "Owns the records for the rules it uses" but thats it. Tongue
