Why can't I enlarge avatars when I open someone's profile? I would have never known what was happening in Jondy's box.

Right click -> View Image.

I don't think it's a good idea to put large images as your avatar... they waste everyone's bandwidth. Avatars should be thumbnailed appropriately.
