I didn't receive a single email from the yahoo group this week.

There were some mid week but not since the 8th. I am putting a note on the update to send to my email for now. Thanks.

EDIT: And in come some of the yahoogroup posts, literally a petasecond after the update is done lol. Not all are here yet though. So wel stil do the above going forward..

EDIT 2: I was just about to update the missing times, then we had a power cut in the whole of Croydon North affecting about 300,000 people lol. Power is back and I have added in the rest of the records. All should be up to date now

Just curious, why still using Yahoogroups which is a very, very out-of-date system? A Google Drive document would be much better, maybe something just like we used at last CDM Time Trial competition to submit times clearly to you.

It worked well for so long, but am aware it is very outdated and have already been thinking of alternate options such as Google Drive. We will do this for the time being until we can permanently move on to a better option such as that. Il keep you updated when we have a system in place.

Okay, thanks for the answer! I highly doubt I would use it anyway, but I just think some evolution may be required, especially since there's always some good activity at every level of the SMK scene.

I have a suggestion. The-elite.net has a feature where they embed youtube videos of their times directly with their respective pages. Do you think it would be at all possible to implement that type of interface for the Mariokart64 domain? It's a really neat feature and really helps with having all videos be combined into one spot (rather than searching through youtube individually for each person's PR video).

I really think it might be a good game-changer for our site, seeing as though there was a recent, ahem... "discussion"... about a similar topic on speedrun.com.

Any thoughts?

I did that for FFSMK website where you can watch all CDM matches by navigating through the results. Shall not be that difficult to implement it on mariokartplayers.com (i prefer that url to the mariokart64.com ...)

I have asked Alex as this would involve the other sites as well. Please allow a little time for him to reply.

The mariokart64.com URL is the actual original URL, the mariokartplayers.com one was created so there isnt confusion with the game being associated with Mario Kart 64 each time. I always used this too.

EDIT: Update from Alex..

The easiest way around it is to use the existing "Comment" field per time which usually stores the driver name. Alex can turn the field into a link if it "looks like a link". This would lose the Driver name value, but if a person is interested in seeing the driver then they can just click the video as it would show anyway.

Alex created a working example here: http://www.mariokart64.com/smk/profile.php?pid=12

He set Armin's VL1 lap to have a comment that is a twitch url. The code for displaying the profile noticed that it's a twitch link and turn it into a link right next to the time. If I enter a comment that does not look like a link, such as "Bowser" again, it should be treated as before and just appear in the hover pop-up.

Please let me know what you think, and I will get Alex to use this implementation after I am back a week later if happy.

I'm not sure if the icons can appear in the charts any other way, I have asked Alex. As they are literally replacing the comment field which is on the profiles and not the charts.

Please allow some time for them to appear as per his example on the profiles for now.
