There is a very intense rivalry going on in PAL around the 160th place.
Can you add a new one on the site for us?

Proposed name for the rivalry is: House of the Rising Team
because we are ambitious to rise (top 150 and beyond), and of course as a nod to the famous song House of the Rising Sun.

Wow, very interesting to have an American player debut on the PAL charts! At first I thought something might be wrong (after all, I went through quite a bit of trouble to get a PAL copy of SMK, plus a console to play it on) but I went to view his times submission which says that he is currently living in Germany. Military brat, I presume, and will probably join NTSC as soon as he comes back to America.

The other new American player is in a town very close to Monroe. I wonder if Eric and Matt know each other? It would be quite a coincidence otherwise to have two new players both coming from the same part of Louisiana. And they're both quite good players with some top 100 times. Beginners rarely get times that chart this high (unless they're Japanese players with MC1 times, hehe)

Matt as been in touch with me for quite some time this year, and is working in Germany for a while but USA will be his country as I discussed with him as he will be back at some stage. He will join NTSC some time later, and has met the guys at the recent Dutch meet. He is long time friends with Eric. Anyway have a good weekend and Christmas.

It has been called "Le Tour des francophones - Adrien, Sophie, Pierrick, Julien, Fabrice". Good job on the name.

As everyone can see, it is a very tight rivalry. Wins are: 10-9-5-8-8, which is the tightest one right now! Just to give an example, on MC1 there is just 1.02" separating the best from the slowest time!

Matt Ballard really could be one to watch on PAL... most people just don't debut in the Top 100. We could have an American MVH on our hands here Cheesy

I'm sure if he sticks with SMK he will certainly pick up the American version of the game and join NTSC whenever he makes it back to Monroe, Louisiana. He can be the "Gerry Buckley of SMK" (or maybe, "the Dan Peek of SMK") Cheesy

In the mean time, I hope he's enjoying the beer (and boobs) in Germany. Smiley

Yes, and don't forget to mention those 2 on NTSC:

Eric Olden USA (NTSC 106th, USA 34th, Star E)
Masaru Okada Japan (NTSC 119th, Japan 17th, Veteran A)

They most likely have been playing for a few years, because you don't reach that level just like that. Unless they come form another Mario Kart, like we've seen before (Andy Lundeen? Michael Fried?).

Matt has many times well in the Top 100, but he is very weak on KB1 (#220 and #228). So I'm sure after watching a couple of vids he will get stronger times, and thus cut a few AF ranks!

This would be more of an Alex Penev project, but not done for the other sites either as far as I know. The news updates show players climbing and the archived news so you can look back to where you were at on certain stages.
