I want to try a PAL 5lap with this strat but I am guessing that getting those two back-to-back NBTs each lap is going to be a headache and a half.

Playing PAL again this week. I feel that this run is still improvable by a little, but I went ahead and took a video because (1) I got the sub that I was after and (2) I equaled my NTSC rank (and standard) with this PR.



*NEW* DP2- 1'28"45.

Note that I did not add the extra NBT that was used in last week's NTSC run (I mentioned in an earlier post that it would be much tougher to pull off both NBTs together on PAL), but I still made a decent gain here in the PAL charts, which I am satisfied with.

^ That's easy for you to say, having the #13 5lap on PAL...

But you're only #23 on NTSC. I wonder if it happens to be because that strat is so much easier to do consistently on NTSC, as I said? Meaning that more people are using it on NTSC and... um... beating your time?

I am assuming you are using the same strat in both versions...

After a marathon session yesterday that ended in heartbreak, I'm ecstatic to say that tonight I've hit my first ever SMK NTSC WR!

The closer was by far the highlight of this run, and I suspect that it's a stronger lap than my current flap PR.

I just now realized that this is my first Titan standard reached in the Special Cup (on NTSC or PAL).

This also gives me Titan flaps on all three Donut Plains courses on NTSC.

Adding yet another new Titan to my collection with a new state record flap on VL1, 9"73.

New lap on KB1. I really want to try this new strat on PAL next week, along with my latest VL1 lap strat.



As has been the pattern since I came back from ASC, I have been alternating between one week of PAL and one week of NTSC, often replaying the same courses from one version one week on the other version the following week. This keeps both versions of the game fresh for me without either of them getting too old, and getting practice on a course in one version of the game usually carries over well to the other (especially when going from PAL to NTSC). I'll probably have to go back to work on PAL again soon anyway if I want to stay in the #46 spot.

Thank goodness I still had that other SNES AC adapter in my closet, because my dumb ass left the main one (NES + SNES) in Monroe. Luckily I recently discovered that I can still play NES as well, because my record turntable's AC adapter works with it.  

Just went back to VL1 to give the 5lap a go, using a strat similar to the one I've been using for flaps (see NTSC video from last week). It took a while to complete the course cleanly, but eventually I got a run that knocked more than half a second off my 2014 PR, pulled my standard up from Hero to Emperor... and, oh yeah, made the PAL Top 35.

Tonight's new PR: a sub-11" lap on KB2 that lands me another #32 spot and my 7th Titan on PAL!
