Another question I have is what should I do if I don't use nbts? Should I just join the non-nbt site, or should I join the main site also?

As far as this goes, SMK is more straightforward than MK64. For the most part, it's really a matter of how well you cut corners and maintain consistency with all 5 laps. There isn't really a strat page for Non-NBT racing. However, there is a page by Simon that describes the New Boost Techniques. You might want to look at it. The page is at: http://www.geocities.com/sim07laflamme/boost. If you can't do NBT, you can still join the sites. That won't stop people from joining the SMK Players' site. If you join the main site, consider joining the Non-NBT site also, since they both go hand-in-hand. The Non-NBT is for fun nonetheless.

Hi!

Yes, you can join both sites, the main site hosts both Non-NBT and NBT records, and the Non-NBT site is solely for Non-NBT driving. So just send all of your course and lap records for every track to supermariokart@yahoogroups.com along with character used and other details for the tables and youl be entered for the update after that.

Check the SMK Video files page, probably the best way to see some of the strats we do. A lot of the are with NBT driving but some other videos show Non-NBT driving. Check them out, they should help a a bit.

Reply #4 - 09/18/04 at 18:20:09 The reason I was asking about a tactics page is because sometimes when I watch the vids they do things that I don't understand and I can't figure out how to repeat it on my own, so it would help if some stuff was explained in words rather than just a vid.

Ok, I have a question about Sami's 1:15.79 DP1 vid. How does he slide like that? Based on the angles he comes into some of the turns at it looks like he shouldn't be able to get around them and that he'll go into the grass, but then he starts moving horizontally and makes a really long slide. Can someone explain how that's done? Also, why is the DP1 non-nbt record 1:16.35 if Sami has a 1:15.79 vid? I thought boosting across the grass at the end is allowed in non-nbt.

Reply #8 - 09/19/04 at 07:23:39 I haven't seen Sami's video but I'd say that because of the moving camera replay, you feel like his turning and sliding is weird. I kinda still feel that way sometimes, watching replays.
