Alright, on to vote sharing...

Michael Jongerius vs. Steven Gutierrez
Voted for Gutierrez. I kind of surprised myself with this vote. Honestly, I figured that I'd be voting Jong with almost no contest in this match. Still, I really thought about it, and it was clear to me that I just don't know Michael. Like I said, karting achievements aren't tops for me, so I had to resort to what I had seen from him, and what connections he had to me. When it got down to it, there were almost none. He seems like a nice guy from the conversations I've seen with him in it, and Laflamme's fake chat, but it's getting to the point where I need to base my votes off of personal experience, not what someone makes up about someone else.  Smiley Besides, I know most of the guys left now.

Still, even with not knowing Michael the best, I think (and it's obvious) that most people went for him anyway. Steven isn't the most liked karter ever, of course, though I think he has improved his posting/IMing habits and become a decent member. I'm sure that had I been one of the people that Steven has targeted with insults, I probably would've voted against him, but he has been pretty cool with me, so I can't hold that against him as much as others would. What it eventually came down to was that I've actually talked to Steven more (and he hasn't been an ass to me) and when it came down to videos and the like helping me, Steven's have done as much as Michael. In short, it was really close, but Steven got a slight edge here.

If you would've told me pre-tourney that I'd vote Gutierrez 3 times in a row, I would've told you you were a wack job. So, even though he's out now, I guess you can say he had an impressive run, and that he got more support than many would expect, myself included.

Louis-Philippe Sabbagh vs. Eric Habrich
Voted for Louis. Refer to my 2nd fake chat to see how much I know about Habrich. If I'm not going to vote for Jong based on Kart skill, I can't do it for Hab either, and I even know less for him. I would say something about him here, but I'm sure that all I could ramble about are Nebraska and the fact that he has a picture. He's great at kart, and you know...corn...

Louis, as it has been established, is one of my best online friends though, so no contest. Instead of some glowing review of Louis here, I think I'll talk about some of the bad things I've heard about him, since those have been brought to my attention recently.

The main argument that I've heard is that Louis is closed-minded. While I have gotten into some arguments with him where neither of us would budge (perhaps I'm just equally closed-minded), I think too many people let that dictate their whole outlook on him. If it's not a topic that he has a strong belief in, then he is usually pretty open in my opinion, and really, how many of you can say that you're very willing to budge on issues that you think you're right on? That, and I really think that too many people are unable to agree to disagree. If PAL and I can co-exist, it should be a love-fest for about every other topic.

The only other potentially bad thing that I can really see about his is how direct he is. This is what got him into conflicts with the Gutierrez brothers, I think. If you annoy him, he has probably told you about it. Personally, I don't have much of a problem with this...I think people tend to beat around the bush a bit much, but I guess if you're one of the people that bothers him, chances that your relationship will improve are probably rather slim.

I don't know. Maybe I just get along with him better than some because of our similarities (age, interests, timezone, humor). I can't say I'm shocked that some would vote against him, though. Of course, he did win this round by a big margin, so it seems he's doing better than most people expected, even me. Still, I'm left to wonder how many votes for Habrich were because people know/like him well, and not just because he's #1 NTSC and has a load of videos (that most of us can't even emulate anyway), or because they dislike Louis. Can't we enforce manditory vote sharing rule, Liem?

Overall, another 1/2. Shock, I know. Of course, fully expected here again.

Edit: Almost forgot. Nice vote totals. 2 matches/day = awesome too.

Been busy in the past couple days, and never got the time to do any vote sharing. Gotta catch up now, I missed tons of matches...

Nathan Stinson vs Martin Cesar
-My vote: Nathan Stinson
I think Nathan got a pretty easy match here. He still was the obvious choice for me though. Not a whole lot to add about this guy. He's been helpfull lately explaining to me the new YV sc. Thanks for that.

Alex Penev vs Mike Simmons
-My vote: Alex Penev
Simmons got a serious oponent this round, and I never really thank he would make it past Penev. I saw in some earlier post that some of you didn't find anything interesting about Simmons. Maybe he changed over the years, I don't know. He was a pretty cool guy back then. So at least I'll keep a good impression of this guy. That beeing said, Alex is still force around here, and I guess he deserved the vote. One thing I sometime dislike about him though (yeah, I gotta find crap to say about those guys Smiley ), is that after all these years I've seen/chatted with him, I don't think I know the real Alex Penev. He always jokes around, and we rarely see his serious side. I think it would be good once in a while to see a serious Alex around here.

Thomas Grandjean vs Lars Nouwen
-My vote: Thomas Grandjean
Saw some nice comments about Thomas here. While I don't know him that well, I don't have a hard time to believe any of that stuff. He's a good update partner, and sometime does my updates when I'm too busy to do them. Very helpfull guy. He even showed me recently a french kart64 page that he maintains along with a few other people, and he created me an account on the site so I could send my PR, and they would get updated automatically. How cool is that? Smiley

Mark Jones vs Chris Rayola
-My vote: Mark Jones
I don't know Chris a whole lot, So Mark gets the vote. I had a few bad things to say about him a few weeks ago, but now I'm on better terms with him. Updated stats: Jones is 92% nice and 8% idiot.

Derek Clark vs Simon Laflamme
-My vote: Simon Laflamme
Figured I'd go with the home boy here. I just don't know Derek well enough. I don't have a whole lot to add about Simon either, so I think I'll just leave it there.

Michael Jongerius vs Steven Gutierrez
-My vote: Michael Jongerius
Ok now we're talking. Steven finally meets someone to who I can give my vote to. This might be a harsh vote concidering Steven has changed alot since his arrival 1.5 years ago. I definately know him better than Michael. And for this very reason, I cannot give him the vote Smiley I'm gonna use a cheesy line here, but it really sums up my situation with him: forgive but not forget.

Louis-Philippe Sabbagh vs Eric Habrich
I'm glad you people made the right choice (ah! Smiley ). Eric was my toughest oponents so far, and I really thought it would be a close match (didn,t really turned out to be one). What might have hurted him was that outside of his awesome kart64 skills, not many know him a whole lot. I personnaly have nothing bad to say about him, and for the times I've chatted with him on AIM, he's been a nice guy. Now I'm gonna have to find some way to get past Jongerius...oh man!

Latest votes I voted for Steven G for much the same reason as Whalls, I know him better, and he's a pretty good guy;)

Louis was a no-brainer for me to vote for, with the help he has given the community with updating time sheets, and just for being a good person to converse withSmiley

I voted MJ and Louis.
I don't like some of things Steven says (not just to me, to just about everyone else), and MJ usually keeps quiet so there's nothing bad to say about MJ - except that he looks really really young in his pictures, and it's not always fun to be beaten by someone so young-looking.

As for Louis, he will always be the "trivia guy". Despite his not-so-awesome taste in video game music, I find him pretty funny. He even drew some great pictures of me shooting Olga the Cow! I should print some out and pin them up on my ceiling so I can see them every day. Plus, he's Canadian and so is Brooke.

Zwartjes vs Miller

Voted for Ben.
Ben was one of the very first people (along with Liem) that I talked to online. I guess we got along well because we were both shooting for different goals. He wanted #1 in SC and I wanted #1 in NonSc. I don't think either of us ever managed to get it though. lol..well at least I'm sure on my side. Smiley Don't see him around much these days, but I doubt he'll ever completely disappear from Mk64. On the other side of the coin is Steven Z. Steven is a strange breed of Karter, who has impossible talent, and an annoying habit of not proving his greatest achievements, or even attempting to appease the questioning masses. I guess nobody "owes" anything to the community, so it's not something you can hold against him and in any case, I wasn't going to vote for him anyway, but he probably would have gone further in this tourney if it wasn't for the debate around his recent LR time.

Berger vs Prentice

Very easy vote here for Finn. I expected a little more mkdd support for prentice, although I don't really know the guy.

Well I voted for Sami in the one match because he deserves it.

Anyway for the record:

MyleStyle8184 (5:12:58 PM): anyhow good for Whalls I guess
KevinBoothWWDB (5:13:06 PM): ya WHalls wasn't sure
MyleStyle8184 (5:13:13 PM): I was going to play a funny prank in the match vs. Sami
KevinBoothWWDB (5:13:16 PM): if he was gonna make it otu of that round
MyleStyle8184 (5:13:21 PM): but now I won't get the chance
KevinBoothWWDB (5:13:26 PM): what were you gonna do?
MyleStyle8184 (5:13:45 PM): well the only rule for this contest is that you can't vote in the round you're playing in
MyleStyle8184 (5:14:12 PM): so it is perfectly legal for me to tell 100 girls to email karters128 and say "I'm voting for myles because he is very sexy"
MyleStyle8184 (5:14:13 PM): Smiley
MyleStyle8184 (5:14:19 PM): I was gonna do that
MyleStyle8184 (5:14:24 PM): I was planning it out
MyleStyle8184 (5:14:29 PM): it would've been funnySmiley
MyleStyle8184 (5:14:35 PM): but not going to happen now

Besides folks, Kart=chicks as we all know it, so if I get 100 chicks to vote for me like that I'm living out the mario kart 64 dream.

Myles

P.S...Notice the higher seeds have won all 14 matches so far. That trend had better end before I start placing bets on the matches and become a millionaire!

Apparently you would need to also convince those 100 girls to join a kart site.

what type of people that aren't members can vote? My friend is thinking about joining the site and I was wondering if could he vote?
My friend is around the expert/advanced area. He is going to join the site after he gets a little higher in the ranks. He started playing TT as an Intermediate D(I like to say"You are currently ranked as a YOU SUCK")
Anyway, is he alowed to vote?

Hey one question though...what exactly classifies being a "member" of a kart community? I never really did anything whatsoever regarding to becoming a member. Basically I just sent times to Booth a long time ago and started talking to him cause he was cool. Is that all it takes?

Maybe the people running the contest thought you were very sexy so that's why they let you vote in the contest.

Lol right on Fried that explains itSmiley I couldn't agree with you more...

But the girls that would've voted for me...I'm sure Tanney and Liem and Simon would've thought they were very sexy too because only quality babes receive the luxury of voting for the Myles. I could just throw a big party and bring a bunch of the college girls I goto school with over my house and have them each play LR NonSC flap or something simple and get 39"XX or something like that in one try and they could all send their PR before voting.

It's complicated but I usually put forth quite an effort for the ladies so this is very feasible.

Catching up on the last 4 matches...

Ben Miller vs Steven Zwartjes
-My vote: Ben Miller
I pretty much said what I had to say about those 2 guys in their past matches. Lacey pretty much explained Zwartjes' situation, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one beeing suspicious about his LR time. For that I found it hard to give him the vote. Miller being his oponent though, made the choice obvious. He is gonna be facing Berger in round 4, and in my mind this match will be very hard to decide.

Finn Berger vs Jon Prentice
-My vote: Finn Berger
An easy vote for Finn here since I know next to nothing about his oponent. Still no regrets, since I know Finn is a good guy. One thing though, that probably doesn't have anything to do with this contest, is that I'd be really curious to see a pic his him. What does an old wise MK64 player look like? I have no idea.

Sami Cetin vs Jonathan Steel
-My vote: Sami Cetin
The bottom line here is that Sami has been of great help to me in my SMK days, and that I have yet to talk to Jonathan.

Jason Whalls vs Myles Bukrim
-My vote: Jason Whalls
This was one of the best match of round 3 in my mind. While I never questioned to who I'd give my vote, it's sad to see Myles get the boot.

Myles has shaken the MK64 history more than once in the past. His multiple SC discoveries have made the SC division much more interesting. He also left his mark in the "kart jokes" area. His name is now associated with "river" and "retirements", and I guess that's something to be proud of. Bottom line: good karter, good guy and good joke material.

I don't have a whole lot to add about Whalls at this point. I'd like to come up with bad things about him (like he did to me in his vote sharing about my match), but I just can't come up with anything worth mentionning (and that's quite annoying). Therefore, I'll ask any of you guys to come up with some dirt about him. I know that he is appreciated by most, but come on, some people must dislike stuff about him. So feel free to throw any insults at him in your vote sharing, I think it will be more appreciated than more compliments Smiley.

Smileybasically I'm bearded and bespectackled. When that is said, there's not much left to cover. But once I get round to cutting my hair (3mm all the way) I'll see if I can get my son to take a picture of me and get it online.

Voted for Steel, 'cause he helped my team out in the ;K64 challenge, and proved to be real helpfull and nice (I may just have been telling him - on the MKDD board - to get a mental checkup. I'm not sure though, but if so, I hope he'll receive it well.)

Voted for Whalls, because of both history and recent activities. The last includes fooling me completely on april 1st. That alone should get him the vote. But Bukrim impressed me a lot recently, by his posts in the last great PAL/NTSC debate.

last two matches:

Voted for Wonn, because of his role in the development of the game. Grard I don't know at all, except as a good player.

Voted for Pier-Yves, who is a real nice guy if ever there was one, and who has been doing a lot of faithful service to the game. Of course Booth deserves to win the whole thing - but I like Pier-Yves, and Booth reckoned he'd beat him real easy anyway, so ....
