I'll admit, I do sort of hope the seeds are reseeded for the next round Smiley  Because I'm against Myles Shocked  And similar to Louis, me vs. Myles is a lose-lose situation for me since he's another of my top picks.

Pobre when did I say anything about "getting 3" or "7-9"?

Reseed after 1st round, after the rules and the draw for round 1 and 2 had already been set? Nah, that sounds uncool... The projected draw for the 2nd round was known before the 1st round started. So, Louis and Tim, you better beat your opponent, or you won't make it to the reseeding stage...  Wink

well

I thought of a campaign slogan

vote duff   (responsibly)

actually I did vote for him, so my vote was the deciding vote.  That was purely off of forum activity.

I also voted for ben, hue le (cause he visited our chat room--free votes if I have no idea who your opponent is)
and chen (because he was my initial competition--well not really at first cause I was ahead...)  and since I've never seen met or ever heard from wonn that was an easy decision for me.

edit (other than for formatting the earlier slogan)--I guess I'll share my vote for Eise cause he's the only person from this community (other than chen) to actually at one time bothered to have a convo with me every once in awhile.  [not that I blame any of you, lol]

Day 15 votes:

Ben Miller vs Oliver Segarra
-My vote: Ben Miller
Miller has been very helpfull to the MK64 community in the past. I think he was one of the first player to release online vids of his time, and due to those, I managed to grab a few WRs (WS sc flap comes to mind). Besides that, he released a pool trickshot vid a while ago, which was pretty cool. I even thought about making my own pool trickshots vids because of him, but I never got around to do them. Anyway, Miller is great!

Sebastien Holmiere vs Hue Le
-My vote: Hue Le
I've got to know Hue alot better in the past recent days since he hangs out in IRC. In one of our chats, I learned he beat Halo on Legendary level, so he's cool Smiley . Too bad he got the x-box version because I'd be inetrested in facing him on multiplayer.

David Wonn vs Ruokai Chen
-My vote: David Wonn
David had been here for ages, and I'm positive he was the first player to help me in Kart64. I sent him an email about 7 years ago asking where and how to do the LR sc, and replied to me the next day with a very detailed strat. Back then, he was the King of SC and receiving an email from him was really cool. I've got to know him a bit better in the last 2 years. I've had periods where I chated with him almost daily, but then our chats stopped for some reasons. David also introduced me to ZSNES netplay, and god knows how many hours we've played SMK/TEtris Attack/Contra 3 and a few other games.

Marcello Almeida dos Reis vs Drew Blumfield
-My vote: Drew Blumfield
This one was kinda hard for me. When Marcelo was active, He used to drop me lines on AIM, and some conver would pick up. But then we lost sight of him. On the other hand, I've known Drew for a bit over 2 years now, and he's been a good netplay buddy for a while. He pretty much showed me how SMK was played in 2 player mode Smiley. He was so dominant in Battle it's crazy. I hate to admit it, but I think he's better than me in Battle/Vs/150cc GP. Damn him!

Closing in on the 2nd round...

Ben Miller vs. Oliver Segarra Gonzalez
Voted for Miller. For one, it is never "Gonzalez Time," so he was at a disadvantage to begin with. Ben had a lot going for him though. He has been pretty cool on AIM for a few years, though I haven't talked to him in quite some time, I presume because we're usually not active at the same time anymore. He has also been a firm supporter of PAL rights, and even though I'm firmly for NTSC, I do have respect for that. In conclusion, something about "Men Biller"...the end.

Sebastien Holmiere vs. Hue Le
Voted for Hue. Though it seems that Hue can be slightly on the obsessive side of things (look at his GV2 play or the fact that he once sent me 40 pictures from an SMK rom in one AIM conversation), he is a regular at the IRC room and has been pretty nice there, so that wins him enough points for me over Sebastien, who I've never talked to. Plus, his whole name is Hue Van Le...that's so much easier to type. Wink

David Wonn vs. Ruokai Chen
Voted for Wonn. Though my fake chats may suggest I hate Chen, that is not the case. I don't really know him for anything much other than Booth's tape deletion. Besides, my fake chats also suggest that I think Wonn is totally insane, and while that is true, it just shows that I don't discriminate. Wonn gets my vote based mostly on his contributions to the SCs of Kart (when he actually deems us prepared...).

Marcelo Almeida dos Reis vs. Drew Blumfield
Voted for Drew. The thing I remember Marcelo (MAD R - sweetest initials ever) most for was hitting his old WR literally minutes after I hit my BB lap NTSC record, which was roughly the gaming equivalent of being kicked in the junk. He did, however, come back into the chat room to congratulate me when he forgot to do so in his brief WR announcement. That seemed really nice to me, especially after I said all those bad things about him stealing my spotlight. Smiley
Duff maybe steals the vote here because of his participation in the IRC chats where he has been fairly cool, if a bit odd. Plus, being Duffjr makes him like...the son...of Duffman, the character that practically holds The Simpsons together. Oh yes, and anyone who beats Louis at SMK is cool by me...I sure as hell can't do it.

Figures that I win the close match this day and lose a different one.

Round 1, Final Group
(and what the hell am I gonna post about tomorrow?!)

Simon Laflamme vs. Jonathan Bennett
Voted for Simon. Simon is the only of the two that I've really talked to, though I think I had an e-mail or two shared with Bennett. Simon always seemed like a good guy in our AIM talks, he wrote a monster of a fake chat, and he seems to speak his mind - something I like to see. That was plenty for me. Plus, my youngest brother is named Simon..which is...um...unrelated.

Gerard Roodhorst vs. Andreas Runnelid
Voted for Andreas. While I haven't talked to him in quite some time now, I have always enjoyed chatting with Andreas. He is always pleasant and humorous. We mostly got to chatting over something unrelated to Kart (Metal Gear Solid time trials), which is somewhat interesting given that Kart is the primary connecting force between all of us. Anyway, his story alone in the bios section was worthy of at least one round of votes.

Steven Zwartjes vs. Jonathon Halford
Voted for Zwartjes. I barely know Steven, and it's true that Jondy is far more active in the community, but I remember a while backing reading multiple posts from Jon that struck me as somewhat bigoted or unnecessary. Perhaps an unfair assessment of the guy, but I don't read every thread so I can't judge him by any other means. Maybe a mistake on my part here, but Zwartjes still won pretty soundly, so I don't have to feel any potential guilt about being a deciding vote.

Robin Usher vs. Tom Gaffikin
Voted for Usher. Robin was the only guy to actually go out of his way to try to bribe me for a vote during my match. I figured that means he's a quality guy. And as a notice for future matches of mine - attempting to bribe me will not be humorous. It has been done and all my (1) special "bribe votes" are used up now, so if anything, I'll just assume you're completely uncreative.

3/4...big surprise. Bring on the 2nd round, where 3/4 won't exist! Cheesy

Day 16 votes:

Simon Laflamme vs Jonathan Bennett
-My vote: Simon Laflamme
Despite the fact that me and Simon seems to disagree on about 95% of things we discuss, I still enjoy our chats. I've met Simon on 2 seperate ocasions now, and it's been alot of fun each time.

Gerard Roodhorst vs Andrea Runnelid
-My vote:Andreas Runnelid
I read both guys bio, and learned about Gerard that he was against the NBT. I'm not gonna start debating the topic, but I think beeing against the evolution of the game is ridiculous. So he lost some points there. Andreas bio was quite original I think, and he used some words I have never seen. So he gets bonus points.

Steven Zwartjes vs Jonathan Halford
-My vote: Jonthan Halford
Kinda hard match for me. I don't really like any of the 2 guys. Even though I never got to talk to Steven, he looked like a talented karter and a nice guy 3-4 years ago, but on his "recent" apparition, I think he acted like an ass. On the other side, Halford seems like an odd guy to me. I find myself disagreeing with him in most of his posts. Anyway, I somehow decided that Halford was the way to go, but if you asked me to revote today, it might change. So yeah, it was close.

Robin Usher vs Tom Gaffikin
-My vote: Robin Usher
With Robin started this rivalry page a while ago, I thought I should give him the vote for his contribution. Also, some of Tom's post on the board seemed anipropritate to me, so no vote for him.

Round 2 has begun! Unfortunately, this one might drag slightly as many of the matches will be lopsided, I think. Our vote totals have been lagging a bit too. I find it hard to believe that between the multiple kart communities and t-e.n that we can only muster 35 people per day that have any interest in the matches. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to make the best of what we've got. Here goes...

Stanley Jeram vs. Pier-Yves Lemire
Voted for Jeram. This was a tough match for me. I have talked to Jeram a bit a while back, and not so much with PY. Jeram always seemed like a nice guy, and he never yelled at me for accidentally calling him "Stand" over and over. I'm not sure what it is with that typo and me...
Still, Pier is a more active poster to my knowledge, especially in the game I tend to have my focus on (K64). In the end, it just came down to Stan being the guy I've talked with more and what he has added to the SMK community. Pier took quite a commanding win though, and I think he's still a plenty good addition to the 3rd round.

Derek Clark vs. Julien Holmiere
Voted for Clark. This one was an easy pick for me. For one, my only connection to Julien is that he plays a Kart game...something that I can say for anyone here. Clark, however, has always struck me as a really cool guy, both in IMs and through his work in the karts/t-e.n. He also has competed in a few games I've been interested in - Kart 64, Mario Golf (N64) and Mario Golf (Gamecube), and even the Yahoo game Word Racer, where he thoroughly trashes me. Plus, I'm pretty sure I have his vote in almost any round of this contest (if he's even voting). He still owes me for the last minute "help" I gave him in the Mario Golf tournament Nintendo hosted that netted him a $25 Target gift card...that's right, I've got him in my pocket. Or was that his buddy Eli? Oh well...hopefully they're both voting for me. Wink

First day down, and of course, how did I do? That's right. 3/4. Oh...nevermind...1/2. Yay!

I voted for Clark (omg!) yesterday, cause he's a great guy and all.  Wow, what an impressive win, glad to see that he must have just gone up against one of the strongest #4 seeds last time around, because he certainly isn't as semi-weak as his small win made him look.  Now I just hope to see the same from my good pal Expert today.  Vote Rayola!

Ok, gonna bust this vote sharing real fast...

Stanley Jeram vs Pier-Yves Lemire
-My vote: Pier-Yves Lemire
I like both guys. Not much to add that wasn't said in my first post about those 2. The fact that I actualy met Pier-Yves made my choice easier though.

Derek Clark vs Julien Holmiere
-My voteCheesyerek Clark
I believe I chatted with Clark a few times. His the-elite connection was the main thing that made me vote for him though. I know he's been involved alot around gaming pages. I don't think I know Julien well enough to give him the vote. Besides SMK, I'm not sure if he's competitive in another game.

Because this thing is set up to take so long that by the time we finish it, we'll have already started the 2005 contest.

However, my vote sharing for the day...

Chris Rayola vs. Marius Mollenhauer
Voted for Rayola. I've seen Marius post a little more on the MB since the first round, and he seems to be a nice addition to the community (and his avatar is kind of humorous), but I've known/known of Rayola for a few years now. I don't claim to be really close to him, but from all my experiences, he has been a pretty good guy. Plus, he does have the staffer thing going for him, which is just a pile of cheap points in my book.

Eric Habrich vs. Stefan Baczynsky
Voted for Habrich. This one wasn't quite as easy as it would appear for a MK64 based guy. I have been assured that Stefan is a pretty good guy, and even though Hab is from Kart 64, I don't know him well (as is evidenced in my 2nd chat). However, the difference maker came in the form of the videos that I have of Hab's. While they haven't really helped me improve my times yet, they are mighty impressive, and something I can understand better than MKDD. Not the most fair of voting criteria perhaps, but I think Hab is only going to be put in more difficult positions (as it relates to my vote) in later rounds, as people I know much more are approaching.

2/2 today! 100% How did you people let that happen?

Btw, I must say that I am extremely glad to see round 2 go back to 4 matches per day. It should keep people more interested, and it will get this done a bit faster.

So ends my post with the least jokes ever.  :'(

Chris Rayola vs Marius Mollenhauer
-My vote: Chris Rayola
Two guys I don't particularly know. Chris seemed like the obvious choice for me somehow. I've heard his name alot more than Marius. Anyway, this is the kind of match where I really don't have alot to say, so I'll stop right here Smiley

Eric Habrich vs Stefan Baczynsky
-My vote: Eric Habrich
There's only one of those 2 guys that I know, and that's Habrich. Still, I got plenty of good things to say about him, so I'm not feeling bad for not concidering his oponent seriously. Sorry Stefan Smiley

Come on people. Louis and I can't carry this damn thing on our own. One of you has to hate one of these guys. Let him have it...he deserves it...and think of how good you'd feel.

Well, until they switch votes because of it.
