Among other things, there's another difference at the ceremony after you finish a Race Cup.  Note the display of the text at the top.  There's also no Blue, Red, or Gray ribbons.

Here is what happens when I rank out during a GP race:

Pretty cool, huh?  Any comments?

Yeah the ribbons are missing and where is the fish?
Also the ranked out part , that is just the same as PAL.

Oops. crap, I was trying to change the title of the topic.

Below was the first post of the topic when I first started it, sorry about this.

Quote:
I just found some more differences between the Japanese version and US version of Super Mario Kart.  Do you remember that code that allows you to access the Special Cup without having get gold cups on the first three cups of the 100cc Class?  Well, in the Japanese version, the game makes a sound when you do the code correctly and the Special Cup menu appears.  In the US version, you don't hear that sound.   What sound?  The sound that the Japanese version makes is the one that you hear when someone uses a ghost in 2P Match Race or Battle Mode.  What do you think?

Among other things, there's another difference at the ceremony after you finish a Race Cup.  Note the display of the text at the top.  There's also no Blue, Red, or Gray ribbons.

In the other topic, there was a discussion going on about the difference in the skids between the Japanese version and U.S. version.   If you have any ideas, you can post in the other topic.

The fish does exist.  Those pictures were done after the fish passed by.

i just woke up from my dream.  we were playing on a gamecube conversion of the snes game.  when i reached the trophy ceremony, a black sky with detailed clouds and orange lighting flashed by.  then i realized we had found a glitch.  in the next screen, we got to choose options and any GP track.  then there was an option to choose a level with Powerwings and my friend didn't click that, so i was furious with him.  then i went to check to see if those codes were online

what happens in the ranked out pic?

My copy of mario kart doesn't have a fish.  It disappeared one day and now there's just an empty space and the cup drops out of the sky.

The Ranked Out event is the same as it is in the U.S. version.  I'm just amused that there are two Japanese symbols representing the Rank Out.
