yeah rules are o.k but we will talk about them when we meet. How much dollas do you want to play for..........?  and the question about shortcuts when we meet we can chat about  that because most of the shortcuts are stupid they spoil the race. But some of them are high skill if you can pull them off in mid game flow  BIG RESPECT [BUT ANY WAY WE WILL CHAT ON THE DAY]. My times are not ranked any where but  you can check them out when we meet so you can see what you are facing. The other person i am going to bring is the BRAD MAN he is pretty good.     C U  LATER WHOOOOOOT.

ok, point taken, but i think maybe we should discuss them here, that way everythings out in the open. I know what your saying about how some short cuts require more skill than others and as i spoke to Sami last night the competition could turn out to be who can do the 0.03 short cut laps the fastest. I dont really see a way around that unless you want to try to agree to ban a particular short cut on particular tracks.

are we playing all the mksc and smk tracks?

and i think its only somewhat fair to know your level of skill seeing as you have a fair idea of ours by our rankings on the site. list your times and somhow indicate why you think you'll be such a worthy opponent.

in regards to the cash.. what kind of stakes were you originally thinking?

Tom

yes tom we will ban the shortcuts that cut out to much of the track because i want this comp to be about the racing lines and the weapons and how you use them because any body can spin round in acircle and do alap in 2 sec`s there is not much skill in that. The kind of money i was thinking was £2000 a race.Only joking we all put £20 in winner takes all if not let me know what you have in mind. And as for the tracks if you want to play the mksc/smk that is fine with me my time i can not give at the moment because i have not got my game boy on me i will email them to you.

£20 quid winner takes all sounds good to me. I think we should maybe decide about certain sc's.. if you get a mushroom and want to use it then can you use it for bigger jumps?  i agree 3 second laps wouldn't be very good competition but for instance if on rainbow road with a shroom it might be hard not to take some level of sc.. without my GBA infront of me i can't think of more examples off the top of my head.. i think the other thing is... characters, are we allowed to pick a different character for each course or do we have to pick one and use them throught? do you have any idea who your thinking of using? i'll think of more later in the week as well when i get my mksc from my old house. and whhat kind of rank do you think you would have on each track in the rankings on the site? roughly?

Tom if you get a mushroom as a weapon yes you will be able to use the jumpers and you will be able to shroom with it but only on certin parts of the tracks i will show you them when we meet trust me the racing will be as fair as possible so that it is a test of skill. [I have also emailed you some of my times]so have a look and tell me what you think.

Saying time trials don't matter in Vs. is one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever heard. Anyone who is good in time trials will automatically have an advantage over someone that only plays the game in versus/grand prix mode. Time trialing allows you to refine your technical racing and cornering on the track... something that a GP race doesn't always allow because of the constant items and the ability to lose your rhythm quickly. I'm not saying that time trialing is the be-all, end-all measurement of multiplayer capability but saying that your ability to time trial doesn't matter in multiplayer/gp is absurd.

BTW, what are your time trial times James?

Also, Tom the MKSC is horribly out of date and I wouldn't use the times on it as an overall measurement. For example, on Boo Lake someone has a 1'11"x without using shortcuts (57"x using shortcuts). Granted, 1'14" is still a good time

it's ridiculous to think you can win without any versus practice while being a good time trialer.  i know with mk64 and some others, you get practice with mushrooms and miniturbos in time trials, so that may be a different story.  but cornering is worthless in any match with a red, mushroom, or a few shells in the road making a difference.  granted, the guy with the most shortcut practice will probably win.

Paul you have to take into account that although you are better, your brother is also one of the best MKDD time trialers on the planet. The difference between somebody ranked 4th to somebody ranked 37th is very small in terms of overall ability. Now, if either of you face some nobody who can barely MT you are both going to destroy them.
