Sami's MC1 is first without a shadow of a doubt, this is the most delirious race ever done (in any Mariokart?) Shocked

Might well be considering he spent many years perfecting it! Cheesy

Than comes the incredible BC1 1'28"93 from Armin, that's robotic...
The barrier is close and on such a long course too!! Shocked

GV1 3/5 jump from Sami..I know MJ pulled it off first, but Sami claims he did it as well. Hats off, I can not imagine doing a 2/5 jump on GV1 Non NBT let alone 3/5! ???

And I'll mention GV2 as well, 1'02"26 is as consistent as a WR can ever be without jumping platform. I know MJ did 1'02"30 with all laps within 0.04 of the WR non-jump!

I don't know about RR, it's great for sure but I didn't play the course enough to judge it's greatness Undecided

Last mention for BC3, where 1'30"72 is a great time considering all the troubles on the course.
I came close to beating it myself, but crashed in the wall in the very last corner Roll Eyes

I am forgetting all Sami's MC times, as his MC2, 3 and 4 are beyond belief as well...however I included his MC1 that tops them all! Tongue

I'll admit that it wasn't until Pierre started improving his time and posting the splits as he was (Posting splits is something I really appreciate. My own are so useless to most of you that I usually don't, but I like that most of the top players take the time to do it.) , that I started reflecting over how consistent the RR 5-lap record is.
(And how obviously bogus Kent's claim of 1' 27" 08 was/is.)

I've have always been impressed with the times achieved on VL2, but in retrospective I think it had more to do with how the course was played / (considering how it's) constructed. Not to trying to take away from the performances; an average player or below average time trialler like myself can't see possible mistakes or time-savers on it during the race replays.

Strongest untied, I wouldn't know. I feel I'm not in the situation where I have enough knowledge or skill to even make a fair judgement. (Especially with the evolution/progression over the past two years in mind.)

In regards to BC1 I have a little story to write, but currently not the time. It will be done..
For now, I was meaning to ask all of you BC1 perfectionists if you have considered (using) the boosting executed in the Japanese BC1 1-lap emulator video, and regardless of whether you have, what you think of it. (Potential, difficulty, other course possibilites, etc.)

The Japanese boost not only on BC1, but everywhere including RR.
However without an emulator they have not recreated this times, and the WR's are done with normal driving

BC1 Martin Morisette and RR Jamie White for example.
The Japanese are better in off-road boosting (the MC1 NBT WR is theirs for example), but boosting done like in the RR video wins very little time and is almost impossible to pull off i think Undecided

And on PAL that would be even harder Shocked

Karel, I know they boost pretty much everywhere, I also know they are emulated, that's why I wrote "emulator video". I've seen all of the videos they put up unless there are new within the past month. I was only asking what you all think about using it in BC1, since it was fiercely competed on not too long ago, and most of you have seen these vids. I know it would be a lot harder to do on PAL, I was just asking openly, so that people could give me their views on how much it could potentially save, if it is realistic to hope to string together a run that contains all boosts for 5 laps. etc. Regardless of system.
Just thought it would be a good time to mention it (albeit not a good place), since most of the other boosting videos have been discussede, but strangely to me, not BC1, where people have been very active lately.

Well that's what i was trying to say really, it's not realistic. If no-one can do it on NSTC non emu we're not gonna pull it off in PAL either Undecided

We already do the boost after last corner for 5 laps though, that's a normal one and quite easy (compared to the others) to pull off. The one in corner 4 can also be done on PAL with one zigzag and Armin's flap of 17'61 whas with both these boosts and a startboost.

I never tried to boost in corner 4 myself yet, and I don't have to cause I have the WR by 0.06 anyway! Cheesy

(meaning I doubt it is quicker cause you have to jump immediately as the yellow jumping bar pops up so close after the corner, this ends the boost very quickly and therefore the advantage is gone)

I guess MC1 1'00"99 is an obvious choice here. It has an historical and symbolical meaning that no other WR will ever dethrone, I'm pretty sure. Those who say it will never be improved again could be surprised, though. Sami himself talked about ~1'00"89 being possible, and his 1'00"99 splits sort of prove it, (lap 2-3-5 are 12"12 and lap 4 is a 12"22!) but stringing together 4 laps such as 12"12 will remain extremely difficult, if not impossible for any non-Sami human being.

For a 2nd best Non-NBT PAL WR, I would nominate one that hasn't been mentionned yet: Sami's 1'39"26 on MC4! This one tends to get forgotten because it had never made it through the site news nor Yahoo groups because Sami's MC4 PR was NBT back when he achieved the 1'39"26, but nonetheless, when you think about it, a 1'39"26 in MC4 is just insane. If we were just doing a rough estimation of what it could give in NTSC, we could end up with a high 1'36, but that is before taking the boost into account, as there is indeed a boost PAL players can't use to their advantage that NTSC players do! So, at the end, we might end up with 1'39"26 Non-NBT in PAL being similar to a mid 1'36 in NTSC!! This just doesn't seem sensible when you look at the NTSC WR being of 1'37"50 (which, must be said, remain widely improvable, though), but that's how Sami is and has always been on MC's...

Michael, who has still a very nice 5-lap of 1'39"85, talked about his 5-lap there being nearly maxed out and well, I do believe him on that, since I'm sure his MC4 and MC1 5-laps are far better than mines anyway, but what can you do when you're battling against Sami in a MC?... (On the other hand, Michael has proved the DP's to be where he could stand out the most, so everyone has his strenghts and weaknesses)

No Karel, I don't want to stop RR ! I'm totally disappointed with this 1'27"34, cos the 4th lap (17"51, ridiculous) ! So I decided to continue RR, but I did a break at BC2 before ! Grin

To answer Armin, I think 1'00"99 at MC1 is the best non-NBT time ! And 1'15"87 at MC2 and 1'39"26 are crazy too ! No doubt, Sami is crazy on Mario Circuit !
