After I discovered mariokart64.com and realized there where a lot of competitive gamers out there, I would like to create a new site for DKR Time Trials.  I did some searching on the web and found that most of the DKR sites have been canned.  Personally, I love DKR and I think a DKR page that was constantly updated would be really cool.  Yes, the tapping technique can get annoying, and yes, the game is 7 years old, but I was wondering if I made a sit for DKR if anyone would be interested in submitting their times. ???

P.S. Would Alew Penev submit his times?  I've uncovered that he's a genius at hovercraft.

Wow... I'm so pissed off right now i can barely type these words !!!  My hosting site dumped my site because it was "copyright infringement"... wtf is this ^%%$$%!!!  I don't know if I'll try to start my site up again or not... probably not just because I'm so mad!  It was a good shot though

You didn't have anything saved on your comp? That's suicide for gaming sites...

That said, I'd be interested in seeing what you could do for DKR if you're actually dedicated to the site. I have long predicted that DKR could have a large following (maybe not Kart 64 numbers, but close) if some people were willing to really devote the time and effort into making it a good community.

However, that hasn't happened. The longest stretch of active DKR community was back in the days when I ran the main site (and that has been years). Zalesky's efforts were marginal at best, and since the players are scattered about, with the largest gathering at GameFAQs, and that's pretty weak.

One thing I would suggest, if you really want to do this, would be to talk with the Kart folks about the database they use to update scores. I have experience in this, so trust me here, DKR is not something you want to update manually. My manual updates were just slightly less painful than being dragged by a car...while on fire. Understated a bit, sure, but you get the idea.

If you can get the site set up well (and preferably as automated as possible), you will surely get a lot of support.

P.S. Alex Penev is Australian. That automatically disqualifies him from potential genius status.

Well obviously I have to use a free host  The problem is I'm running out of free hosting websites suitable for this kind of work.  50megs has the same format as freeservers so that probably won't be much help.  Tripod doesn't have enough memory or a good enough format.  I guess my last hope is Geocities... I'll check it out later.

i wouldn't mind competing in diddy kong racing.  i picked it up a couple years ago again when i picked up mario kart 64, mario golf, and mario tennis.

I know a few other places that hosted Mario Kart.  The ones I can think of are Zeldagames and 20m.com (I think).

i just had a dream they were releasing the sequel for gamecube, but they hadn't started working on it.
