So, any decision on where (city) it will be held? The sooner we have an idea, the quicker we can look for accomodations...

That, and is there any decision on the dates yet? It'll be easier to get days off if we clarify things ASAP and I tell my boss soon, so I'll be sure not to get schedualed on whatever dates it will be.

Sorry if I'm rushing things, but like I said, the sooner the planning is over, the better things will go. Roll Eyes

Any date is potentially good or bad for me Undecided
I won't know if I'll be working or not until the specified date approaches..so I personally don't have a preference.
I'll try to make it for whatever date you guys decide on. I don't mind tossing in money for a room, etc.

Well, unless there is opposition, then I guess we can declare July 16 (Friday afternoon) to July 18 (Sunday) the "official" meeting date. Chris, and other concerned people, that would be the dates for which you would try to free yourself from work (was that a grammatically correct sentence?). At worst, I guess people can come at 1 or 2 days of the 3 that are planned to hold the meeting...

Anyway, if July 16th-18th are indeed the chosen days, then we would have a bit more than 1 month to choose a location, which I agree would require from us to hurry up! I'm not quite sure if we have to settle for a room renting, or if there are still other possible options, but if we choose the first one, then we have to start gathering information as soon as possible. I can do some researches on google tonight for information regarding the price, location (at Montréal or nearby if possible) and such, and we can gather all this information here on this topic, in order, at the end, to choose the final meeting's location.

Well, I of course want it to be from the 16th-18th of July, there wouldn't be a problem for me then...

Just a quick question, when you say nearby to Montréal, what do you intend by nearby? I want to help out find a suitable location, you know! Wink

I agree that this would shorten the research but we're not sure yet on what will it be maybe a local maybe something else so you can search some general place.

Well, when saying "near Montreal", I don't imply any definite limits, but we could say that searching for a location that's within a ~1-hour (in car) radius off the island seems fair. It can be a bit more than that obviously if we really find the "perfect" place; Basically, it's all relative, but Montreal still remains the most central location.

Anyway, I was thinking about it in the last days, and I would personally really prefer to have the meeting held in someone's home or in a house someone knows about rather than in a rented room. If anyone is willing to invite a (maximum) amount of a dozen people, or if he knows about a house/other place that can, then it would be the best time to let us know about it. I personally don't, and seriously, doing researches through Google for example is pretty much like starting with nothing from nowhere...

I live about 1 hour away from Montréal, but I can't accomodate a dozen people, house way too small for that... though if I can find something around here, I'll ceratinly let you guys know! Grin

People would bring their beds and all their stuff I could even sleep right on the ground in a corner where no one goes and his all dark and ...  Wink

I could maybe get some people here but now I guess it's getting quite far of the 1 hour of MTL. If you drive really fast maybe  Wink

can't you guys rent out a couple rooms at a cheap motel ~50 dollars?  they have tv's.  or you can opt to bring large tv's. 2 days x 2 rooms/8 people plus food ~40 dollars a person.  they usually have a lot of restaurants/fast food places in town.  i doubt you can get any large places for cheap.  you might be able to pay some dude with a computer to rent out his apartment for a couple days.

Well I asked my parent and it could be at my house.

I live near Quebec city so it's farther than Montreal for Ontario guys but you could still come.

I have 2 beds and 2 air bed (???)

For the foods either go to restaurant , call for food or buy stuff at the grocery like spag or anything else if you're good cooks (which I'm not so  don't count on me there;D).

Is it still for the same week-end?

I'd say it's allright and it should be here.

Also is it 3 days or 2?

Normally, it should be for 3 days, (from let's say Friday afternoon/night to Sunday afternoon) and yes, I guess it should still be the same date: Friday 16th to Sunday 18th.

I guess if people don't mind too much and can still come, then having the meeting held around Québec City instead of Montréal should not cause too much trouble, but having people agree with that alternative first is indeed what counts the most. So, does anybody mind having to drive some more to come to a place that's in Québec City's vicinity? (for the information, Québec City is around 2h30-2h45 away from Montréal in car)

As for the beds, I guess everyone can bring their sleeping bags, anyway. For the food, we can always work something out, but although I do like pizza, I must admit I would prefer not to eat some 5 meals in a row...  Smiley (and I'm definitely not a good cooker myself, neither!) I'd say going to a restaurant would be nice; staying in a basement 3 days in a row playing kart is definitely meant to cause headaches, I can say from last year's experience Wink (and I was thinking maybe to avoid that, we should also plan to do 1 or a few activities that are not necessarily done sitting in front of a TV?)

humm 3 days? If everyone can come by friday I'll take a day off otherwise I think they could arrive late (I'm at home at about 9:15 to 9:30 pm after work  Undecided)

If everyone works like I do well they can either plan their trip to get here after that time or come "early" the next day.

I talked with Louis and Nicholas (spelled right I think Smiley ) and Nich wouldn't mind at all while Louis may come but we'd have to get him a path to follow since going to unknown area can be really annoying Smiley. There was you that I can contact that I hadn't other than that the other guy I don't know well I couldn't contact them (Jean Sébastien Dubois and Martin Morissette that is mainly). That would probably kill Chris hope to get here but well so far it's the only thing we have otherwise their seem to be no meeting .

Yeah I never taled about eating pizza 5 day in a row heh once maybe twice max for me Smiley. There is a St-Hubert a Normandin and a Mikes close along with a vieux duluth. For faster things there is McDo of course Subway Dunkin Donuts. Those are all within like 5-10 car minutes so it shouldn't be a problem.  Tongue

Other than sitting in front of a T.V? what ?  Wink Yeha I have a comp  Wink. okay well I don't really know what we might do since not everybody will have a bike I guess  Roll Eyes  and other than that I don't do much than working  Grin. I do have a few board games or cards or whatever if that can interest some people  Smiley

Ah ok. In that case, I'm sure people can plan their schedule so they arrive later in the night or just on Saturday morning. Or, maybe, and that's really just a possibility that still has a very uncertain chance of happening, but maybe I could manage to invite people at my dad's home (where I will be by that date) for the first night. If we do that and my father agrees, then we could manage to have the whole basement free for a part of the afternoon/night or the whole night if needed. I'd have to talk about it with my father first obviously, but that's still a possible alternative if Friday night is causing problems.

For the path to your home, chances are that everyone will need one anyway. I must admit myself that I don't know much about the South bank (rive-sud) of Québec City, except maybe for the "20" highway being the main road for people who will be coming from the West, but you probably don't live directly next to the highway.  Smiley And by the way, I should have no problems getting in contact with Jean-Sébastien and Martin, as I see them online quite regularly on AIM and MSN. So, once things start getting decided, I can tell them about it.

Sure, we'll play some Scrabble in French against Chris! Tongue No, seriously, I also tend to spend my days way too much in front of a TV or of a computer, and finding good ideas of how we could spend a MK meeting doing other things could be hard, but 3 days straight in front of a TV is long honestly, so I think it would be worth to think about it a little. These can be very simple things. I'm someone who's generally not too excited about doing these things that most people around me really enjoy doing, but on the other hand, I can have fun with very little. Besides, any activity done with people that I've known for 2-3 years through the internet but that I'm meeting for the 1st time in real life is meant to be fun whatsoever. Wink While the scrabble thing was a bit of a joke, I do enjoy playing some board games occasionally, just as long as it doesn't have fucked up rules. In fact, I do know of one MK-related game that Jamie and I were playing when we were really bored.  Tongue (I was generally the one who insisted to play it)

And lastly, while having the meeting held around Québec City unfortunately increases the length problem for most players, I must admit you may be right when you say this would be our last alternative if we want that meeting to occur. Still, we must remain open to any eventual better solution if one arises, because the more players can come, the better it is. In a perfect world, all PAL and NTSC players from all countries would meet at the same place at the same time and... and... hum... yes, they would!

haha free parking Smiley

Also I just remembered I had a pool  Grin. So if the weather is good for us then we could do that. I don't know if everyone has rollerblade or bike that they could bring but that would be hard I guess but still just throwing ideas here.

As for the arrival it depends on when people can arrive I wouldn't mind getting back from work earlier  Roll Eyes

And no I don't live near the highway but not far from it. It's the first exit after the Laporte bridge when going toward Montreal. Since I live in a small place which is done mainly of one street well it's not hard at all once you got the exit Smiley

Yeah I'm open to other suggestion it was just to get something more probable thrown out.

Oh and I do have Risk but if we're more than 6 I wouldn't mind just watch as I played a lot. Is it me or this game just lack piece? Smiley We always end up having to get those cavalry there for those up to there than those here and finally this canon for those 5 there and this one and then ...  Tongue. Anyway we'll see
