Breaking 2:10:000 on WC was probably my most memorable barrier in MKDD.  It took me hours until I finally got 2:09:839.

I had two very nice PR's today that I consider barriers that I will remember.  I knocked my DK mountain lap and total times down a bit.  I got my lap below 36 to 35"775 and my total down to 1'50"121.  Both were fairly sloppy and can be brought down.  I'd say I can reasonably take the total time down to 1'49'200 and the lap to 35'500.  Oh I am still using the parade kart even though I've been told countless times that its worse.  I haven't tried the toad kart yet so I really don't know.

I posted this once but and it says im the last to post here but the post isn't showing up so ill try again.

I managed to break 36 for Dk mountain lap and 1'51''00 for the total time.  I actually got 35"755 and 1'50"121.  I'm sure that I can take off another .3 on the lap and can reasonably take the total time down to 1'49'200.  I'm still using the parade kart however, and I have been told many times that I should be using toads kart because its by far the best.  I have yet to try toads kart here but it seems like from what ive been hearing that i should be able to take of a bit more time even if i use that kart.

1:20 on SL...my previous record before tonight was around 1:20.6, and one run I slammed into the skaters after being -0.707 after 2 laps.  Then I was more than a FULL second ahead after 2 laps but got really nervous around the ice skaters and missed a couple MTs and finished with 1:20.3.  I'll remember getting 1:19...

I don't really think there's barriers in the game.....it's just sometimes (for whatever reason) you get better quicker than at other times.

My most memorable barrier is the one which finally bounced me back to MK64. That happened when I couldn't get under 1'12 on Peach Beach. I had gotten down to 1'12"087, which at the time was close to the top 10, I think. And I tried and tried and tried, and my left hand fingers hurt insanely - and finally I had to give it up.
So don't tell me there aren't barriers Wink

PS Dammit, I didn't realize this thread was so old. I just went back through it and found that this is a story I've already told. But that was in March, so ...
and Scott never passed me, so I needn't go back to PB

I don't think there's anything that terrible about bringing back old topics if you're new, have something interesting to say (that hasn't been said in another topic), and think other new/old ppl might also have something to say about it.

forgetfulness is one of the privileges of the old

ps. I quite agree, Matt. Some old threads actually deserve being brought up again, too. And if you've been around a while, you realize that what new threads bring up, seldom is a novelty Smiley
