Hmm... I'm not sure to understand your point, Tom, but in any case, if someone wants to get Non-NBT times, he won't have to "force" himself all the time to make sure what he is doing is not NBT. If anything, Non-NBT could be considered the "natural" way of racing, or at least the way people used to do their WRs back around 2001 and before. So people have been playing for about 5 years of online competition without even being aware that you could use that kind of technique (the NBTs) we're using today: I don't see why suddenly people would need to be careful in their driving when playing Non-NBT to make sure it really is Non-NBT.
The only time when it becomes problematic is at a few DP corners, where normally you would do a "normal powerslide boost" (no off road cut through corners involved), but sometimes when releasing the boost, you get over some bits of grass that are on the road's edge. It is important though to keep in mind that the site isn't being too picky in that kind of situation. As long as the boost isn't volontary held over long distances, that the grass cut is on the side of the road in a straight way and not through a corner, the PR remains by definition Non-NBT.
As for everything else, it's pretty self explanatory from the moment you read the rules and experiment a bit with the boosts. Basically, pretty much anything you would
not do if you were only letting the kart goes around the corner on his own and let the boost released as they are got has to be NBT.
I hope it relates to your point. If not, either my english really still sucks, or you're writting the kind of sentence that got me a low grade in my December writting exam.
