You should get blue before the corner. Your kart will turn more if the flames are blue. If you have trouble doing 2 SSMT's on a straight, you should stick to only one. You can get good times with only one. For eg. Finn Berger has clearly subbed 1'09 with only one MT per straight.
In cornering, it doesn't matter even if you bump on the walls a bit. It won't slow you down much unless you really get stuck to the sides. When coming out of a corner be sure you don't go wide on the track. When doing the SSMT try to get it quickly so you won't be dragged that much to the sides. My advice is to do a left-facing SSMT after coming out of the corner. Don't do it immediately after releasing the the corner MT. Wait a second or so before starting a new slide.
When going to the corner, I think the optimal place to start the slide is right about in the center of the track or maybe a bit right from the center. If you're too much right you won't be able to keep your cornering tight and if your too much left you'll be taking a longer path that slows you down.
There might be a vid of BP at
http://www.david99.co.uk/ but the vids aren't working at the moment. And of course you just need practice. 1'09"825 isn't that bad but you can easily take maybe a second off. When your comfortable with your MT skills start learning to do 2 SSMT's per staraight. It is a bit faster but less than you might think. I actually don't like BP at all coz I think it's very boring.
And btw, an SSMT is just a normal MT done on a straight (Straight Stretch Mini Turbo)
