Good job Etch Smiley , all of this reminds me the last time I played DP1 MKSC in TT using Long Boosts that was 6 years ago and I subbed 57", that was a nice 56"95 if I'm remember well, I still have my cartridges so I will check this thing later, but I was sure 55"9x was doable and 54"9x wouldn't surprise me if someone already did it; Q: do you know what is the current RDP1 WR 5-Lap with LBs (ticking)? Also, I never played MKSC for doing some PRs since that moment and this is where I hit a wall to start my LB and where the effect of my LB ends:

My GBA SP was already pro-ZZMT in this time and I also did ZZMTs for my PRs, I am interested to see your 56"00 record Etch Wink

Hahaha Grin but I'm really serious I would like to see you trying your best on SMK NTSC, your rank (#89) doesn't represent your true power Undecided , and yup we all know that the GBA port of SMK is a great thing but the true experience is by playing this game on a Super NES, I already know you can reach #25 but the things could be really more complicated for you @ #10 so... imagine being #5 Roll Eyes
Etch, I believe in you to be an AWESOME SMK KARTER, don't leave MKSC but forget the shrooms for a moment and please enter in the greatest old school of all karts!!! Cool

Thanks, well since you can hop over the wall near the start this is a slower strategy without utilizing full lap skips.  I'm not sure what the fastest time is going around the long way but I was pretty satisfied with my splits.

And yes, that's exactly how I used my shrooms!  It felt so strange trying to hit the wall rather than avoid touching it at all costs.  The angle is also important because you won't get the full boost to clear the grass section later at normal speed.

Shucks, I'm flattered you think that but it has been 5 years since I goofed around there briefly.  I'm no wizard but when I sink my heart and soul into something nothing feels out of reach.  If I ever feel that way again with smk, I'll dust my snes off and see what happens.  When playing doesn't feel like a chore that's when I'm at my best.  I don't mind if it takes 6-8 hours to shave a few hundredths now and then, haha.

Two months, too long...

Retro Bowser Castle 3:
12"82 #12 (MC) -> 12"67 #2 (GD)
Big surprise here, got one of those laps where everything just clicks. This was only my third lap under 12"80, after a "78 two days ago and a "79 yesterday. Win on Cole, Mick, Nosey, Guilherme, Stacy, Etch, Banjo, Alan, and Ethan (on a SNES flap!?  Shocked), tie with Chris, Top 3 #[database down], God #37.

.125 AF cut.

CCI 56"35 (19"66 Smiley - 17"09 Smiley - 19"60 Smiley)

I hate to admit it, but when you poopy on my precious hard earned times it lights a fire in the darkest recesses of my soul.  For the first time, I feel like I actually understand how this works and with some more work I will land 2/3 and 3/3.  I actually nerfed a 2/3 run this morning so I'm confident when I'm in a good rhythm I can aim for something around 51"xx land if I'm mentally willing...

Practice going for the zipper after the shroom. All it is, is a double hop that's really easy to time.

Heh, that was what I was going for. Glad it worked out! Good luck on getting into the 51"xx range; I'd bet you could even do 50"xx if you can keep your nerves together.

The most important parts of this track are keeping a decent speed through the gap, then maintaining a fast speed by getting a waterslide after the shroom. Like Ethan said, aim for the bumper. In my experience hitting or not hitting it is about the same if you have a great slide, and I hop over it because I feel more comfortable going for the zipper afterwards, but that's up to you.

From there, it's just a battle with the nerves around the sharp corners.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips guys because they paid off!

CCI 54"76 (19"30 Tongue - 18"63 Smiley - 16"83 Cool)

At first I was aiming to sub 56 using scuba but caught a lucky break.  I wasn't playing much into this session so my transition towards the zipper was sloppy but thankfully I kept things together.  I suppose this will become more consistent with practice thanks to muscle memory.  I'm rarely conscious when I'm in the zone, lol.

Also, looks like I have just one last Expert time to extinct...

Field testing for standards made me realize how bad my SGB 3lap was...

Shy Guy Beach:
47"75 #9 (TA) -> 47"00 #5 (MA)
Splits: 15"65/"81/"54.
This was fairly frustrating to get considering how unpolished the time is. I first improved to 47"40 with an awful, awful 16"25 lap 3. I then proceeded to get a bunch of runs between 47"40 and 47"70. Prior to setting my 47"00, my Top 5 was 47"40/"40/"40/"50/"63.  Smiley Win on Etch, Cole, and Mick, Top 5 #23, Myth #68.

.05 AF cut.

BL: 1'11"81 (#3) - 21"45 (#3)
RiR: 1'10"95 (#3) - 21"96 (#4)
YD: 59"18 (#2)

And from yesterday and today:
