Hi fellow karters,

I'm working on my BP time and trying to switch to the 8 MT start, but i still struggle a little.
So i'm hoping for some advice for how to perform the 8 MT strat in detail or some general tipps that help making the transition.

Hey there! I'd say a 1:06.481 is still pretty early to switch to 8MT, usually I would recommend getting at least a 1:05 with 6MT before making the switch. Here's an old video of mine that kinda displays the 6MT strat a bit better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRjKuki5ISo

As for 8MT, the basic strat is to go around the corner, do a left, a-tech right, normal right, as displayed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSObNA1OCYM

What you really have to focus on this is spreading (thus spacing) out the MiniTurbos properly in order to make proper use of the extra miniturbos you'd do compared to 6MT. And also of course as always: Maintain the best racing lines possible.

With both 6MT and 8MT, the timing of the a-tech will be a bit tricky to get down properly so keep experimenting with it.

Eventually at the higher level of 8MT it's pretty standard to do a little bit of a-tech on almost every MiniTurbo, but try to focus on nailing the basic stuff first, that should already get you towards a mid 1:04.

Thanks for the answer Goomba, exactly what i was looking for.

I will practice the 8 MT a bit more, but at the moment my mt around the corner is always to late to make a good turn.
Maybe im still to slow and should aim for the 1:05 with the 6 MT strat first.

Also for the flap i saw some videos with strat you were talking about but i didnt really understand how to do it, would love a good descriptionon how to perform that.

I got 1'05"639 with the 6 MTs, but I have never figured out how 8 MTs works. I also do not know how to do the flap.
