I always wondered who people consider the best players to ever pick up the game. There's probably another similar topic around, but let's refresh the discussion. I'm considering Time Trial prowess only, not considering other contributions.
Mine would go as follows (no particular order)

Karel van Duijvenboden: longest champion, most WRs ever, consistently been the champion since 6 months after joining the page. Not much to add to be honest

Sami Çetin: the most dominating player the game has ever seen. Still has some of the strongest and plain unbeatable records in the game.

Guillaume Leviach: honestly, I think he had the best peak out of any SMK player ever. He had that couple of years where we were all just waiting to see what crazy WR he would get next.

Jamie White: most dominant NTSC player ever. One can only wonder how good he would be had he continued playing after the development of NBT. Personally, one of my favorite players.

Honorable mentions (Second Team):

Alicia L'Hoest: one of the most inventive players ever, and also had the best fight for #1 I've ever witnessed against Karel.

Julien Holmiere: insane last couple of years. Dominant using new strats. Always pushing the boundaries.

Oliver Segarra Gonzalez: the best player from the south hemisphere. Too bad me and him kept alternating our active years, or else we could've had some great battles for BR #1.

Joe Bernier: one of the pioneers of NBT inovation on NTSC. Contributed a lot to the development of the strats we used for years.

My "Mount Kartmore" would-- with 100% certainty-- have Sami and KVD on it, and I had the honor of meeting both at ASC 2020. My third pick would have to be Antistar and I'm still debating who my fourth one would be. Alicia, Neo, and Scoub are probable candidates so my Mount Kartmore would most likely have two French faces on it.

At the moment I'm leaning towards Scoub, or as I call him, the James Holzhauer of SMK (due to both the shared initials, and their proclivities to not break but absolutely shatter records)

I'm still not sure of my Time Trial portrait, but if I had to build The Mount Rushmore of SMK (Overall) for sure Neo has already won a place.

Wow, very proud to be part of the Fab Four. I think there should be a spot for Neo somewhere, he was never TT champion but as a specific track specialist (MC2, KB1, CI2, VL1 anyone?) he used to master things like nobody else. I also think Simon deserves a spot somewhere.

When it comes to the "top 4" it's pretty obvious Karel and Sami both get the two most obvious spots. I don't know if I should include myself there considering there are Alicia, Jamie, Scoub, Neo or Joe, I'll leave it to the others there [smiley=lolk.gif]

To even be mentioned in the same breath as all of those absolute legends is such an honor. It's incredibly hard to narrow it down to four people, but I would definitely put any of these people on my list:

Chris Clark
KVD
Sami
Scoub
GAS
OSG
Jamie White
Mario86
Neo
Alicia

I'm a bit biased to the era when I played, but all of these people are incredibly talented and blew the game wide open from what it used to be in the early 2000s. I consider most of these people (some more than others) close friends of mine, and I'm very thankful that we've kept in contact over the last 15 years since I joined the site.

In all seriousness though, based on pure driving ability I can't look beyond Sami, Karel, Scoub, and Neo.

Unless of course (like a few of you obviously have done) you consider me based on that one UK record I held on MC2 for like a day about a decade ago.

First off, I'd say Moll is right with the full GAS mountain. :D
If we're talking purely about TT Players' Page performances (and GAS specified that we are), then Sami just has to be there before anyone else. He pretty much invented top level SMK and has been blowing our minds with crazy WRs all the way until today (his recent VL2 47" speaks for itself). That's more or less 2 decades of being at the top, which is completely incredible, if not insane.

Then I've had three French rivals for the #1 position that really stood out through the years and all of them have reached it more than once. :)
Alicia, Guillaume (Antistar/Mario86) and ScouB. All of them have/had the ability to rain groundbreaking WRs like there was no tomorrow. And for me all 3 deserve to be on that mountain full stop. :D

Then the impossible 5th one. Neo, Firewaster, OSG, Joe, Aron, Jamie, Simon, MJ....yeah I don't know. Let's make it a blend of all those faces. ;D

For the record the 'official' top 5 in terms of sheer WR prowess would be: KVD, KartSeven (Alicia), Sami, Jamie White, ScouB.

But I do believe the era in which you were active weighs in here, so there are definitely arguments for a different set of players to be on that mountain. ;)

I agree, but he came like quarter finalist or something in the last CDM for Battle Mode? If there was a Mount Rushmore of Skank Tactiques, or generally winding everyone up during matches, then it would be Harold, and only Harold, always and forever. ;)

EDIT: Harold lost in the Top 16 in Battle Mode, to Salim! I only just noticed that, anyone know what happened there? On a lighter note, Harold made the Top 4 in Match Race. 2019 stats. But yeah he still deserves a mention, for all of his years as a powerful contender, some highlights knocking me out of the ring in Match Race 2016 and winning Battle Mode in 2013!
