Title: How far away is the sun on Luigi Circuit?
Post by Winbag4 on 03/15/20 at 21:43:32

So a while back I did a paper on a technical topic of my choosing. I calculated the distance to the sun on Luigi Circuit and its effect on the climate of the course.

I turned this in for an actual grade (and did a full presentation for an audience) and got an A lmao

Enjoy

That's an A+ from me. I may be wrong, but I didn't see a vertical component of distance computed, but I don't think it would have changed your end numbers too much as the sun doesn't look that high in the sky. Still would've been amusing to compute the temperatures at different times of the day (sun directly overhead etc.) :P

^yep, still cool regardless. Nice job. It'd probably be possible to get a vertical measurement with moon jump somehow (or some TAS tool, no idea what these guys use these days).

Thanks!

And yeah I considered it negligible. It looks to be about 15° or so which would give an error of less than five percent, but it's difficult to get an accurate measurement on that. And it would be neat to calculate the hottest and coldest temps, since the equations I used only estimate the average temps of a particular location. I'm not quite sure how to go about that, but I would guess that it would change by roughly the same percentage of an average day on Earth.

Not sure if it would be useful in any capacity but remember that the credits uses Luigi Circuit at sunset with I think similar camera angles to the track intro before a VS race

Because he got to do a technical paper of his choosing
