I recently watched a speedrun by ScouB in which they complete MC1 with a time of 46"94 however the fastest recorded time in TT's I could find is a 55"97 by Sami, so how does that work? Is it something special about GP mode or do the coins in GP mode increase your speed?

Coins increase your speed, and WRs in GP are played on 150cc, whereas TT is played on 100cc by default.

yes, SMK TT mode runs at 100cc only (same with mk64)

Plus it's Scoub so the timer starts at -00'00"02 by default.

I think he was talking about my All Cups NTSC video for which MC1 was purely NBT iirc (no LBs.)
