Title: Streaming Twitch Post by Dave Smith on 06/26/19 at 11:27:54 Hey Guys! Sorry if there is a topic like this but I could not find one. Can someone explain to me what all is needed and how to set it up so that I can stream on twitch. A video would be awesome! Thanks! |

Title: Re: Streaming Twitch Post by Dan H on 06/27/19 at 05:50:43 Basically all you need is a capture device that can run the video to your computer. I use a Diamond VC500. It's a fairly cheap one and there are several others out there so you can shop around. I also use a powered a/v splitter and a couple other a/v cables. So my setup goes like this: SNES connects to splitter, one a/v cable goes to tv, another goes to VC500 which connects to my computer, and that's my basic setup for the hardware. Fairly simple if not horrifically rudimentary. As for software, my VC500 came with software that pops up a screen on my computer and shows what's playing. To capture that and put on twitch, you'll need broadcasting software. There are a few out there, but the one I know is Open Broadcaster Software (OBS). All you have to do is choose what screen is open on your desktop to broadcast and away you go. There are a few other steps in setting up OBS, which I think you can get by reading through their website. I recall setting up my audio capture was somewhat of a pain, but I tried using 3 or 4 different mics before I found one that I could tolerate. Once you have a twitch user name, you need to enter your stream key into the OBS software where it asks you to do so and choose a server location that's semi-close to you. You may also have to toy with the bit rate you broadcast at. I had to lower mine significantly because my computer isn't really powerful enough, otherwise your video will look really choppy. Not sure what else there is. Mostly just get the components and play around with them until something seems to work. That's what I did, anyway. Good luck. |

Title: Re: Streaming Twitch Post by Dave Smith on 06/27/19 at 07:41:14 Dan, will these two things work? https://www.amazon.com/Elgato-Video-Capture-Digitise-iPad/dp/B0029U2YSA/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=capture+card+rca&qid=1561646424&s=electronics&sr=1-4 https://www.amazon.com/BronaGrand-Female-Splitter-Adapter-12inch/dp/B01MXNGXS4/ref=sr_1_25?crid=TLPDENR2G0BC&keywords=female+jack+to+female+jack+rca+cables&qid=1561648893&s=gateway&sprefix=female+jack+to+female+%2Caps%2C137&sr=8-25 |

I read mixed reviews about ElGato back when I started streaming 3-4 years ago, but they seem to have taken off in popularity. The cable you posted would probably work, but I would be concerned about the length of it. It seems from that picture you would have to have your computer almost right next to the tv to make it work. ScowBee, Joe, Karel, Moll, Sami, Lafungo... Anything you can add or suggest to this thread? |

Title: Re: Streaming Twitch Post by Danger M on 06/27/19 at 09:44:54 I don't bother with a powered AV splitter, just use regular ones. There is no apparent loss of signal; or brightness. |
