2018 was a controversial year for the MK7 community, but was also one of our most active years in a long time for time trialing. Among all of the active players, these three impressed us the most, but only one will receive the title. Who will you choose?

TAKmk
Our #2 ranked player continually improved throughout the year, and is inevitably sneaking closer to the throne. First of all, TAK got the second ever 1:46 on MP and 1:57 on BC. Both of these are amazing subs and his Bowser Castle PR is a Site Record. He does like to reign over villain castles apparently, because he beat Lun on rBC1 NG and rBC1 G in two epic WR battles, something that this game hasn’t seen for a while. After winning both, he had a 1:10.784 for the NG category and 1:10.264 for G. Overall, TAK had a very consistent year with improvements on 28 NG tracks, which continues to shock us. It is very impressive that he is still capable of improving most of his times and that he now achieved top 10's on every track.

Thomas S.
Thomas had a very eventful year with World Records on eight different tracks. He continued to impress us by introducing new strats just like last year. For example, he got 1:58.040 on MC with a new pasta strat, which would eventually bring the WR time down by almost a second from Jacob’s no pasta WR. He also revived slicks on TC along with a new SSMT strat, got a RIW WR with the USC for the first time in over six years, and recently introduced a new shroom strat on rRR. He got a WR on all of these tracks. He also got WR’s on DKJ, rLM and rMT. Thomas managed to cut over 10 AF across 22 NG tracks, which brought him into the top 3. Thomas’ innovations to time trials have given him a very successful year.

Alpha
When he joined the Players’ Page in February, Alpha wasn’t even inside the top 50. However, he quickly began to improve and got his first WW top 10 on rCM in March. He continued to get very strong times like 7th WW on MC and 3rd WW on rDDJ, and eventually he achieved his first World Record in August. It was an astounding 1:42.950 on rLM NG, but it unfortunately only lasted for 59 days. He still continued to get many top 10’s, however. Twelve NG and four G worldwide top 10 times, to be specific. Towards the end of the year, he beat Glooba’s legendary rMT WR with a new turn cut strat. He lossed it temporarily, but reclaimed it on December 31st with an amazing time of 2:14.654. Alpha made big improvements on 28 NG tracks since he joined. This brought him all the way down to 5th place overall, making him the best French player on the Players’ Page, even passing Sun.

The player of the year 2018 is............. ALPHA

Alpha was very active during the whole year. He got many WW top 10's and 2 WR's on rLM and rMT NG. He also became the best known player in the French country. Something to be satisfied with! He has cut 47.1876AF and went from #53 to #5 in one year. Very impressive! Keep going!
