Title: The magical 55 min WR barrier to be broken soon? Post by Harambey on 10/01/18 at 00:13:56 Just a simple question but I'm really interested to see how you think about it. So currently, the total time of all World Records (so not Site Records) is 55'00"420. Do you think that total time will get under 55 minutes before the end of this year? We still have three months left to try... [smiley=thumbsup.gif] |

Title: Re: The magical 55 min WR barrier to be broken soo Post by cros107 on 10/01/18 at 00:20:51 I don't think it will happen this year. Definitely by next year though. |

Title: Re: The magical 55 min WR barrier to be broken soo Post by Rhodechill on 10/01/18 at 00:40:39 It's not really magical. Also, I don't even play the game, and I know it will be subbed significantly before 12/31/2018. |

Title: Re: The magical 55 min WR barrier to be broken soo Post by Martijn Veldhuis on 10/01/18 at 00:51:22 Depends on a few things. If someone gets usc on RIW. It could be done immediately. But with those tiny improvements right now. It will take a long while. |

Title: Re: The magical 55 min WR barrier to be broken soo Post by Nick Renzetti on 10/01/18 at 07:52:47 It’s unlikely in my opinion, I don’t see much room for big improvements other than a good RIW run with at least 1/3 USC |

There are more tracks possible as RIW. What about MP 1:45, NBC 1:40, rBC1 SC However this things aren't likely to happen quick. No one is attempting them at the moment. But to be clear. It's only 0,4secs to go. It should be definitely doable this year. |

Title: Re: The magical 55 min WR barrier to be broken soo Post by Kleenex on 10/01/18 at 12:13:29 Another cool question would be "which track do you think will make that sub possible?". I'm going with DH :P |

That's indeed a good question. Another question could be 'Who would it be to push it under 55 minutes'? Must give a lot of satisfaction to be that one. |

Title: Re: The magical 55 min WR barrier to be broken soo Post by Martijn Veldhuis on 10/15/18 at 07:03:16 Shine could've done it already. He was like 0,4 seconds ahead of his ghost on rMG, but failed. [smiley=dead.gif] |

Title: Re: The magical 55 min WR barrier to be broken soo Post by Harambey on 10/23/18 at 00:49:40 We're less than a tenth of a second away now! I'm going with Lun on rDKP. He's made a cpl improvements lately and it looks like he won't stop until he gets the sub. GG to those that thought it was not gonna happen. The next two months need to be really crazy if it were to still not happen in 2018 [smiley=bath.gif] |

Title: Re: The magical 55 min WR barrier to be broken soo Post by WillD on 10/23/18 at 19:07:22 Here's a quick history of minute milestones in MK7: 12/5/2011: The first day of WR Tracking. The Total WR time at the end of the day was 58'28"993. 12/7/2011: End of day WR Total was 57'55"353. I have no idea who set the time that officially pushed it below the minute mark. Things were fast and furious in those days and some times weren't found until days later. 12/21/2011: End of day WR Total was 56'58"024. There were a total of 19 WRs set that day. Here they are:
I was able to locate exact post times for 18/19. The only one I was unable to find was the 2'02"006 BC by [ch12415][ch12428][ch12435]. Fortunately, this didn't cause TOO many issues, as you'll see later on. The source for all of these times was the post time in the WR thread, except for Cole's TC, whose video metadata had a slightly earlier time. Now, the WR Total of times at the end of the previous day (2011-12-20) was 57'00"433. This equates to 3420.433 seconds. So getting below 3420 seconds is equivalent to getting below 57 minutes. Here is the progression of WRs over the course of the day with a corresponding total time counter. Scenario 1: BC was the first record of the day set.
Conclusion: -BC was set between 0:00:00 and 0:04:24 on 2011-12-21. In this scenario, G-danzee WP 2'14"393 broke the milestone. Scenario 2: BC was the 2nd record of the day set. For these next tables, I'll be including just the first 5 times, since the rest have no bearing.
Conclusion -BC was set between 0:04:25 and 0:55:34. In this scenario, [ch12415][ch12428][ch12435] BC 2'02"006 broke the milestone. Scenario 3: BC was NOT the 1st of 2nd record of the day.
Conclusion: -BC was set between 0:55:35 and 23:59:59. In this scenario, Mick rMT 2'21"661 broke the milestone. Final Conclusion: Assuming a uniform distribution of times of the day that [ch12415][ch12428][ch12435] could potentially set times (probably not entirely accurate, but good enough for this unofficial experiment), I get the following percentages using this formula: (latest possible time - earliest possible time)/length of day Scenario 1: (0:04:24 - 0:00:00)/(23:59:59) = .003056 = 0.306% Scenario 2: (0:55:34 - 0:04:24)/(23:59:59) = .035533 = 3.553% Scenario 3: (23:59:59 - 0:55:34)/(23:59:59) = .961412 = 96.141% I think it is pretty safe to say that Mick's rMT 2'21"661 was the legendary sub 57 time. 5/17/2012: End of day WR Total was 55'59"985. Phew. This one was a lot easier. There were originally only 2 WRs set on this date. Alexony rDDJ 1'52"562 and [ch12424][ch12387][ch12375][ch12540] rMT 2'18"488. However, looking at the metadata for the rMT time revealed that video was actually uploaded on May 16th at 14:40:02. It was not reported on the MB until May 17th however, which explains why it was added on that date. With that date correction, the Total WR Time at the end of the previous day, May 16th, was 56'00"015. Alexony's 1'52"562 was officially the time to push it below the milestone. SUMMARY: 58 Minute Barrier: 2011-12-07 No idea on which exact record. It would be basically impossible to pin down. 57 Minute Barrier: 2011-12-21 Mick 2'21"661 rMT 56 Minute Barrier: 2012-05-17 Alexony 1'52"562 rDDJ 55 Minute Barrier: 2018-1X-XX ??? |
