Title: Kart Challenges - Mushroom Cup Post by Harambey on 09/28/18 at 01:23:17 This is the thread designated to the Kart Challenges for all Mushroom Cup tracks. So if you want to do something different than just TT'ing 3laps and flaps, this is the thread you're looking for! If you want to know more about Kart Challenges, check this thread and in particular post #15, where I explain the new concept of Kart Challenges: http://www.mariokart64.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1512215059 This post will contain the rules and guidelines for doing challenges and how to submit your times. The second post will contain the challenges for each track. Currently, there are only challenges for Toad Circuit and Daisy Hills. Challenges for the other tracks will come shortly. The third post will contain the leaderboards for all the challenges. The leaderboards will be updated occasionally, but I can't tell how often I will do it, especially since I'm doing my final exams this year. Currently, there are leaderboards for all Toad Circuit challenges, and leaderboards of the Daisy Hills challenges will hopefully come soon. So let's go to the very important part: Rules and guidelines: 1. Your time submission should look like the format for submitting times for the official 3lap and flap leaderboards, but some things change. Here's a lovely example: Quote:
That means your post should include your Name, but does not have to include the Date as leaderboards will be in this forum and I want to have them look organized and not messy. Just your Name and your times for challenges is enough. The abbreviations for the tracks are the same as usual. I suggest you just take a look at the Times Updating Thread in case you still don't know the abbreviations. After that, you write 'Challenge' and then the number of the challenge. Then you submit your time and I'll update it. - Proof requirements: The proof requirements are the same for each challenge. It is made up of the following: - If your time is the fastest time, you must provide video proof. You can show me proof either by DM'ing me in the Discord, showing it in the #challenges thread or sending me a private message through the forum. Your time won't be accepted if it is the fastest but does not have video proof of the time. - If your time is not the fastest time, picture proof is enough. However, video proof is always appreciated because it is stronger proof that you didn't cheat in the challenge and followed all restrictions. The proof requirements used to be different and more complex, which is why they have changed. Two more things: Unlike all previous times people came up with and tried out Kart Challenges, they were weekly or monthly. This time, they're NOT TEMPORARY. You can try the challenges at any time and I won't ever remove a challenge. Secondly, you can also submit your ideas for Kart Challenges. After I've unveiled the first three challenges for a track, you can start submitting your own ideas for other challenges on that track. Most of the time, I'll be free to add it to the other challenges (unless it is really a bad challenge idea, like the example I showed earlier). So that's it. Your time only counts if you managed to get all 10 coins and finish the race. Restrictions: You must grab all 10 coins to successfully complete the challenge. There are no other restrictions. Challenge 2: Mario Likes Pipes Too Much! Description: In this flap challenge, the task is to get the fastest lap time possible while using Mario. Furthermore, you need to touch all eight pipes on the track for your time to count. After all, Mario uses pipes a lot! Restrictions: You need to use Mario - your kart combo is up to you. Secondly, you need to hit all eight pipes during your try. Challenge 3: One Side Of The Road. Description: In this 3lap challenge, you must drive either on the left side of the road, or the right side of the road, for the entire race. You can use shortcuts if they are on the same side of the road you are driving on, but you can't ever drive on the other side of the road. The line in the middle of the track will tell you what's the left side and what's the right side. Important: This challenge contains two sub-challenges: Challenge 3A and Challenge 3B. Challenge 3A is the challenge where you drive on the left side of the road only. Challenge 3B is the challenge where you drive on the right side of the road only. Your times combined will determine your time for this challenge. Restrictions: For Challenge 3A, you can only use the left side. For Challenge 3B, you can only use the right side. These are the only restrictions. Proof: For this challenge, the rules on proof are slightly different. For the sub-challenges, the rules on proof are the same as for normal challenges. In case you have the fastest combined time of both challenges, you will however need video proof of both challenges, whether or not you finished first in the sub-challenges or not. http://www.mariowiki.com/images/thumb/3/31/Daisyhills.png/150px-Daisyhills.png Daisy Hills Challenges: Challenge 1: Colorful Balloon Combinations Description: In this 3lap challenge, you will have to hit two balloons in each lap, so that you will have hit each of the six balloons exactly once at the end of the race. To make it more difficult, you are required to make 'combinations' of the colors the balloons have. That means that you need to hit a red and a yellow balloon in one lap, a red and a blue one in the other and a yellow and a blue one in the third. In which order you make these combinations is up to you. Your time only counts when you hit each balloon exactly once and each combination occurs exactly once. (I know, it's quite a puzzle) Restrictions: You must touch two balloons in each lap. You must have hit each of the six balloons once in your run. The combinations 'red+yellow balloon', 'red+blue balloon' and 'yellow+blue balloon' must occur once each. You can't hit more than two balloons in one lap. Challenge 2: 'Hi I'm Daisy!' Description: Daisy already was pretty annoying, but you will make her hated even more. Therefore, in this flap challenge, you will drive Daisy and you 'knock' on all the doors with your kart. You must make a clear hit with each door, so driving along the wall does not count as 'hitting a door'. You need to get the fastest flap time possible while hitting all the doors as Daisy, so that means that the doors of the houses past the finish line are the first ones you must hit. Restrictions: You must use Daisy as your character. You must clearly hit each door in your flap time. There are no other restrictions. Challenge 3: Greedy Goats Description: This challenge also is quite a complex puzzle, so listen carefully. In this 3lap challenge, you need to collect all 22 coins and hit one of the goats four times to lose three coins upon colliding with them, and finish the race with ten coins. That means that you will first need to collect enough coins so that you are going to lose three coins when you crash with a goat, and repeat this four times. Because there are 22 coins found on the map in total, and you lose 3 coins each of the four times you crash with a goat, thus losing 12 coins in the process, you should be able to finish with the remaining 10 coins. Ranking method: The ranking method for this challenge will be slightly different. Your time counts when you have hit a goat four times losing three coins each time and finish the race, but you do not HAVE to finish with 10 coins. You can finish with less coins. However, players that finished with more coins than you will always be ranked above you, no matter how fast you were. Thus, submissions will be ranked by amount of coins at the end of the race first and then by time. Therefore, your submission for this challenge should look like this: Quote:
Restrictions: You must hit a goat four times in your attempt. You must lose three coins each time you hit a goat. I changed them because I realized the old rules were way too complex and it made the posts look messy. Please read the new proof requirements which can be found in the first post of the thread.
