Welcome to the Karter Contest 2K18!!! This thread will outline all rules and guidelines applying to this contest and its corresponding section on the forum, which is where you are now.

If you have seen any of the previous Karter Contests, especially the more recent few, then you should know generally how this stuff works. Newcomers, however, are encouraged to read these rules in full!! Don’t worry, I’ll keep it as concise as possible!

The following are subject to change, as needed.

I. Participation

Participants Must Meet ALL Contest Entry Requirements:

- Must be a member of at least one of the 8 Players' Page sites, since May 1st, 2018 00z (0:00 UTC);
- Must be a member of this message board, from before May 1st, 2018 00z (0:00 UTC).*
- Must be alive. Trying to nominate dead karters isn't classy. It's stupid. You know who you are.
- Must NOT be a winner of a previous edition of the Karter Contest. Previous winners are:

- Alex Penev (2004)
- Sami Cetin [Sami de la SMK] (2006)
- Michael Fried [Michael F] (2008)
- William Lacey [shadow] (2010)
- Mickael Smolen [Mick] (2012)
- Christian Wild [Chraizy] (2014)
- Chris Clark [Zarkov] (2016)

*Ex-Member forum accounts ARE included in this post-count condition, provided you can demonstrate you owned said accounts and that they were not banned by an admin.

- If you are caught during or were caught before the contest cheating on any of the eight player pages, you may be subject to removal from the contest at the discretion of the host.

While this is all you need to be able to vote in the contest, entry is dependent on being nominated by your fellow Karters – see the Nominations Thread Here (http://www.mariokart64.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1526347377) for further details!

If you do NOT wish to be nominated for the Karter Contest, or wish to be removed from the contest once matches have begun, send me a Personal Message here on this forum, or send me a direct message over Discord, requesting your removal.

If you are unsure about your eligibility, contact me via PM or discord DM.

II. Voting

ALL Requirements below must be met for voting/nominating players in the Karter Contest:

- Must be a member of at least one of the 8 Players' Page sites, from before January 1st, 2018 00z. Partial timesheets DO count! Gray area cases resultant from database update delays will be decided based on join email/join forum post timestamp, links to which must be provided by the participant to myself via PM/DM for review.
- Must be a member of this message board since before January 1st, 2016 00z* **;
- Must have a post count on this message board of 50 or more*.
- No alt accounts allowed! ONE MEMBER, ONE VOTE, ZERO TOLERANCE!!! If I catch someone sending votes from multiple accounts that person may be banned from further voting, depending on a couple factors including my mood, and half the time I’m a soulless genocidal husk so don’t try me! :D
- If you are a participant of a match, you cannot vote in that match!!!

*Includes ex-member accounts (same as participation condition)
** I am willing to make exceptions for pp members active on discord who haven't made 50 posts here. If you are under 50 posts here, DM me on discord with a link to your pp account(s) and your forum account, or PM me here on the forum with a link to your pp account(s) and your discord ID [name#xxxx]. YOU MUST DO THIS BEFORE YOU VOTE. YOU MUST SEND BOTH ITEMS LISTED IN THE OPTION YOU SELECT TO REACH ME. VOTES RECEIVED FROM LOW-POSTERS WHO HAVEN'T GOTTEN ME TO WHITELIST THEM WILL NOT COUNT!

If you are unsure about your voting eligibility, contact me via PM or discord DM.

KC voting is EXCLUSIVE to this message board's polls, that will be visible from all the sections. That means no votes allowed from e-mails, discord/IRC, etc.

- Absentee voting: If you know you cannot be around when a/some match(es) happen, you may send me a PM beforehand with your vote(s).

If you accidentally voted for the wrong person, contact me via PM/DM to have your vote cancelled, as long as the match in question remains in progress.

III. Campaigning

You can make campaign threads in this forum section to promote yourself or other people that you like (and so even if you're not part of the contest!) to gather votes.
Content can go from presenting yourself to the community, to providing amusing incentives/rewards for each round you go through... there's a lot you could do! Be imaginative!!!!!!!!
Note that while that can give you a nice boost for the contest, it is by no mean mandatory nor even needed to win the whole contest!

In the spirit of fun and civility, I will enforce the following:

1. Keep campaigns (and other KC-related threads) to this section ONLY. Such threads seen in other sections of the message board will be removed and I might even publicly shame you for breaking this rule! ;D

Also, don’t vote-beg outside your campaign thread. It’s annoying and pathetic. Don’t be pathetic. If I get enough complaints of this happening the offending party may be removed from the contest!

2. Don't spam the section with threads or posts within threads.
Obvious rule, one that applies to the rest of the forum. However, I’M the one who has to deal with that shit in this section. Breaking this rule is a good way to make me your enemy. You don’t want me as your enemy.

3. KEEP IT CIVIL!!!
The Karter Contest is primarily meant to be a fun event for the multiple kart communities hosted here. As such, flaming or harassment of any kind in any thread will NOT be tolerated!!! If you have a problem with someone, contact myself via PM/DM, or work it out amongst yourselves in private, like adults. If you act like a child I’m going to treat you as such, and spoiler alert, I don’t like children.

4. Keep it SFW (Safe For Work). That means no porn, violence, gore, etc. To be clear, I’m not against NSFW stuff, but not everybody shares that opinion, including forum leadership, so just don’t.

Finally, this last rule is absolute: Have fun!!! :)

While these rules ARE in the match threads themselves (hence why I bothered typing em out), SOME ppl must have a hard time reading, so I'll post a reminder of sorts here for those who may possibly be... developmentally challenged, like MaxBot v28.0.61 here. Not to worry, however, as he IS scheduled for a firmware update. :)

At first I just thought this was a typo, or misclick, or something, maybe erroneous current in his circuits. I mean, 3 DOES look so much like 4, after all. Fucked with the results 'n made a discrepancy that probably still exists, dunno if I fixed it or not.

But then he had to go and ignore my rules a 2nd time!!!

This seemed like a pretty simple rule, a one-liner so to say, but I guess some folks just have the urge to make that number tick a little higher in the poll results, a pathological urge, if you will, to inflate their fragile yet bloated egos and senses of self-worth, since their kart timesheets clearly aren't doing them any favors ;D

Then like 15 minutes after I finish removing the ego masturbation, I come to find out the act of removing the vote chopped my beautiful graph in half! :( This made even more work for me as I had to go back and re-enter the data then delete the right cells' stuff just so it would work properly! [smiley=chairshot.gif]

Overall, results took about 4 times longer than they should have as a result...!

Everyone send Max your thanks for things getting delayed, I'm sure his ego.jar will enjoy the attention! ;D
