This is probably old news, but I picked up this book today in the electronics section of Wal-Mart. It has maps, speedrunning tips, glitches, and trivia for many SNES games, and SMK is one of them. And guess who gives the speedrunning tips for SMK in this book: none other than Sami Çetin and KVD (who are mentioned by name in the book). I was quite surprised to find their names in a book at Wal-Mart, as well as a mention of the CDM (!), although I think I've seen Sami in another book before (possibly even Guinness World Records). It just goes to show how famous SMK and its time trialling community has become over the 25+ years that the game has been out now.

On one page, though, the Godfather's name was misprinted as "Sam Cetin" (no cedilla under the C in any mention of his last name, actually), although it's quite likely that many of his friends (especially those not familiar with Turkish pronunciation) probably call him Sam anyway, or Sammy.

Too bad the book doesn't give readers the URL for the Super Mario Kart Players Page! Imagine people submitting times to "Sam Cetin" after seeing the site mentioned in the book. [smiley=smokin.gif]

Techniques mentioned in the book include GV platform jumps, various NBT strategies, longboosting on MC2, and skipping the bumpers on the BCs, all common knowledge among us top 100 players, though Karel also gives us some tricks involving items solely for GP/Match Race.

Yeh everyone got a copy back in October. I grabbed one in NYC then another copy was posted to me by the time I got back.

Translation: Copies were available in October for anyone if they wanted to order them or find them in shop where they were for sale. But players may not have bought or even known about it.
