Title: MK8 Deluxe Purple Drift Boost ? Post by Kam59 on 03/11/17 at 07:07:25 In a very recent youtube video showing an overview of MK8 Deluxe, there is a very short clip of Waluigi doing a drift and having the orange sparks turn into purple ones. To me this suggests they could be adding a THIRD drift boost for even more speed. The race is set to 200cc but I don't see why this third drift boost would be secluded to the fastest game mode. If this is true, MK8 Deluxe will need separate charts for sure. Personally I thought they always needed this. Would make me consider buying the game.. http://i68.tinypic.com/sfz5ms.png Check it out and tell me what you think. https://youtu.be/ZKB9FEXhJ68?t=1m39s |

Title: Re: MK8 Deluxe Purple Drift Boost ? Post by Jazzy on 03/11/17 at 07:32:57 I'd definitely advocate for separate charts if this is in 150cc as well. Or even if it is a bike-only thing. There will be other differences between the games as well, such as new karts. I'm feeling more like this game is an altered version of the original rather than a port with added features. Reminds me of Super Mario World on the SNES versus the GBA "port", which had several important differences in gameplay. No speedrun site would consider speedruns on those two games to be comparable. I already have separate charts working on the new Players' Page, which I'm working on still. I'm hoping to complete it for the launch of Deluxe. Then, we can see from there if things need to be altered with the PP. |

Title: Re: MK8 Deluxe Purple Drift Boost ? Post by Mick on 03/11/17 at 14:31:14 While this is an intriguing addition, I can't really think of too many situations where you would be able to pull off such a mini-turbo and getting the full benefit of it. However we could also see other minor changes that will affect the gameplay and which vehicles end up becoming the best. After all vehicle stats may have already been modified! This is the kind of element that grabs my attention at least, as someone who wasn't keen on buying this version. |

Same. The game was a definite NO buy from me until I saw this. If all the vehicle stats are changed, controller advantages are taken out, a triple drift boost added, and a 200c TT is added, then I feel like I need to buy this game for sure. Really wanted to put off buying the Switch until at least Super Mario Odyssey came out though. Also I hope that the extra drift boost is not exclusive to bikes as Jazzy said. |

[/quote] Honestly, bikes kind of deserved to have a bone thrown their way, as they were useless in TTs and hardly used online. Nonetheless I'd rather they buff them by improving their stats rather than giving them an exclusive mechanic (we all know what happened with MKW :P). |

Nice find! I really really like this addition. Hope it shakes things up in a few tracks for TT. |

Post by Frederiek on 03/17/17 at 01:37:38 http://mulehorngaming.com/2017/03/14/mario-kart-8-deluxe-overview-whats-the-difference/ "200cc returns as the fastest engine class in Mario Kart 8: Deluxe. Originally, this mode was dominated by expert racers. However, they have made one slight change in the 200cc Mode which is the ability to break while drifting. Being able to slow down will add more control and precision for the users during the high speed race. Also, you will be able to do Time Trial in the 200cc Mode, helping you become a master of the track!" |

Title: Re: MK8 Deluxe Purple Drift Boost ? Post by SamH on 03/17/17 at 05:17:37 I thought you could already brake while drifting? |

Title: Re: MK8 Deluxe Purple Drift Boost ? Post by Suuper on 03/17/17 at 09:47:44 Yes, you can, though not with all controllers. E.g. on the wii mote brake and drift are the same button. On the GamePad, they are separate buttons. |

Title: Re: MK8 Deluxe Purple Drift Boost ? Post by ORANGE.gov on 03/17/17 at 19:08:17 If Mario Kart 8 deluxe has all of the courses from Mario Kart 8. Would racing online in Deluxe be compatible with MK8? By that I mean would there be an option in Deluxe to race with only the MK8 courses |
