Title: Just bought the game, what's all this stuff?

Hey, I'm an MKDS player and I just bought MKSC to try it out. What should I know to start? I've looked around for a topic on this but couldn't find one. What are ZZMTs? Also, what lap count glitches should I know about? Is there a page/site where I can read all about this?

Probably just play through grand prix to get used to game. You should eventually try to learn to use bowser as he is the best. To unlock the snes retro tracks for time trials, I believe you have to get all gold cups on 150cc and then do all the cups again and get 100 coins in each of them. Go to here for the non-shortcut rules http://www.mariokart64.com/mksc/rules.php it has images of the tracks showing the shortcut/banned routes. I don't know much about ZZMTing (zig-zag mini turboing) but i think you have to mod your GBA to do them (it lets you do MTs on straights). To do normal MTs, you press R and then must turn ~180 degress then straighten out again and a blue spark will show giving you a speed boost.

That's all I can say. I'm sure the pros will have some more useful information :)

Have fun  ;D I'll also link you to this playlist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW72IxqKsWc&list=PL3hRSOp8fv1jpWctFP09YW_BK6aXOaVv0 It helped me a lot with some beginner strats. Most of the times there are around intermediate level so good for starting out  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

If you need to know about lap skips, just ask me or Etch, as we know more about them than anyone else here. There's quite a few of them but SC isn't the main ranking, and typically requires a totally different set of skills, coupled with the ability to effectively utilize non-Bowser characters.

As far as ZZMTs are concerned, you need not worry about them until you're at least top20 level, otherwise you'll have ZZMTs and bad driving. They're typically obtained by filing down the notch under a D-pad, but can be obtained naturally if the pad is worn down (Cole was the first player to use them and he used a worn down DS pad from MKDS).
