Title: TvK TV
Post by TvK on 05/27/16 at 14:01:28

Hey there karter people,

I know this campaign comes too late to make anyone nominate me, but I guess better late than never. The reason why I am so late with this campaign, is because I have been doing thorough research into the voting trends of the people that will be deciding this Karter Contest: the karters from all over the world. I've done tons of interviews, I've asked numerous questions, but now I can finally share with you what the opinion of the average karter on the KC is. At least, that is if that average karter is a TvK supporter.

So without any more ado: here is episode one of TvK TV. If I make it past the first round, I will start collecting enough video material to complete a second episode.

Just to show that I am a man of many talents: here are some interesting stats about this year's Karter Contest!

2K14 had 112 participants. Only 67 of those karters will return for the 2K16 edition. That means that we have 29 entrants that didn't feature two years ago. Of those 29, 22 karters will make their very first KC appearance this year. Karters returning after a longer absence (last entry between brackets) include ScouB (2K8), Fabien (2K8), Tuomas (2K12), PYL (2K10), Darius (2K10), Dan H (2K10) and the legendary Mike Groels (2K4).

This unfortunately means that 45 of last year's participants could not secure a spot in this year's KC. One of them is our combined champ Chris, who got banned from the KC after winning 2K14's rigged contest. That leaves 44 karters. 31 of the 44 who were unable to return to the KC went out in 2K14's group stage. 12 karters who were knocked out in last time's round of 64 will not feature this year, and there was even one player that reached the last 32 in 2K14, but he could not gather enough nominations to make it into this contest.

But anyway, we should take a look at this year's participants. First we'll look at the 29 karters that didn't feature last time 4 of them are mainly MK64 players, with two of them immediatly skipping the group stage by getting into the top nominated spots. SMK and MKDD do even better with 5 new participants each. But it is MK7 that takes the crown. The MK7 crew will have 6 new players in the KC! MKSC and MKW on the other hand will only have 1 new karter in the contest.

When we look at all of the 96 participants this year, we'll see that 30 (31%) of them are old school karters (2005 or earlier). The biggest chunk of participants, 38 (39,5%) of them, belong to the middle school (2006-2010). The smallest class is the new school (2011 or later), with only 28 (29%) representatives.

41 participants live in North America (USA/Canada). 52 players are European. That leaves 3 outsiders: 1 from Brazil, 1 from Australia and 1 from New Zealand. The country with the most karters in the tournament is obviously the USA, with 35. The UK carries the biggest load for the Europeans. 15 of them made it into the KC. Other countries with multiple representatives include the Netherlands (10), France (10), Canada (6), Germany (4), Sweden (3), Norway (2), Italy (2) and Belgium (2).

The mod block has received a big knock since last time around, when the mods were auto-ins. Last time, 21 mods were in the contest. This time, only 14 of them made the cut. And just a funny stat to conclude: 27 people have played/are playing in one of the two mafia games hosted in the past month. 19 of those players have made it into the KC.

As a Dutchie it's actually hard to not listen to the spoken sentences instead of reading your text, but that's ok, as both the real vids and your 'translations' are hysterical and I just ended up watched both your campaign vids twice (once muted).

I actually just wanted to bump my campaign becuase my match is up in a couple of hours. But now I'm here, I can just as well post some more KC stats about the contestants in the round of 64.

We'll first have a moment of silence for the 32 karters who had to leave the contest before the bracket stage. The casualties were the heaviest in the new school department. Only 4 MK7 or MK8 players made it into the bracket stage. On the other side of the spectrum, MK64 only lost 4 of their own and SMK even had to leave 3 of their karters behind in the group stage. MK64 has 19 players in the round of 64, SMK has 15 MKDD and MKDS have 8, MKSC has 6 and MKW and MK7 have 4.

We also say goodbye to 13 North Americans. 29 North Americans did make it into the bracket stage. 19 Europeans were eliminated in the group stage, while 32 of them move on to the next round. Great news for people who do not live in either of these continents: everyone in the group stage who isn't European or North-American will feature in the round of 64.

If we look at the schools, we find out that only 5 old school karters are knocked out of the tourney. Middle school also did relatively well: 10 of their own were eliminated. The biggest blow by far was dealt to the new school karters. 17 new schoolers did not make it past the group stage. The bracket stage will feature 25 old schoolers, 28 middle schoolers and only 11 new schoolers. So if you're a relatively new karter who got knocked out early this year, then don't despair, you'll do better in 2k18 for sure!

For those who were hestitant to join the mafia games: only 3 mafia players that entered the contest have been knocked out in the group stage. The remaining 16 mafia players will take part in the round of 64. The mod block is going strong as well: 13 of the 14 have made it into the bracket stage.

10 karters who didn't even enter KC 2k14 have now made it among the 64 most popular karters! Of these 10, 7 were even first-time participants. 8 people that were knocked out it last edition's group stage have now improved on that result. Only 3 participants in this contest who made it into the bracket stage in 2k14 were knocked out in the group stage.

And finally, we'll have a look at the karters' nationalities. Incredible performances by Australia, Brazil, Croatia, Italy, New Zealand, Spain and Sweden. They didn't leave a single compatriot behind in the group stage. Unfortunately, two countries were totally eliminated in the group stage. So long, Finaldn and Switzerland, we hope to see you again in two years. Some other countries also suffered heavy losses in the group stage: Canada lost two thirds of their entrants, Belgium has lost half of theirs, surprisingly France and the UK both lost almost 50% of theirs. Other strong performances include Germany, the Netherlands and the USA.

That's it for now. Don't forget to vote TvK!

Finally, the third episode of TvK TV is here! Instead of keeping the focus on myself, I decided to put other karters in the spotlight. Obviously none of the stuff that I put in the video is made with the intent of hurting other karters' chances of winning the contest. My main goal is entertaining others.

I just noticed my match will be up in 41 minutes. I'm sorry, guys, I didn't have the time to make another TvK TV video. I hope my previous videos + my overload on KC stats have convinced you all to vote TvK in my next match. I've had a great run and I never would have thought to reach the Sweet 16 (and make into Etch's famous Sweet 16 Redux). So I'm calling all of my discord friends, mafia buddies, resistance pals, MK7 bros, general generals, mod monsters and anyone else who I've had the honor to entertain:
