I found myself refreshing the forum’s home page, wasting a ton of time clicking every sub-forum to check if new posts were in any topic I was interested in to find that none were lately, tried to look for a function that I’ve found in every other forum I visit but didn’t find it here. This is the kind of thing I’m looking for: http://i.imgur.com/utcgHy6.jpg

Can it be implemented? That’s the page every forum visiter should be on and refreshing if they’re regulars. It’s super helpful. If it’s already there and I’m missing it, please give me a link.

lol you don’t understand. I want a page that lists topics with new posts. The home page lists sub-forums with new posts. I don’t care for most topics in the sub-forums, so telling me a sub-forum has new posts isn’t helpful at all.

Each topic also has yellow star... You just have to be viewing the sub forum rather than all forums at once.

Go to the home page. Imagine new posts in every sub-forum. You have to click on one of them, see if there are any topics you’re interested in, go back to the home, do it again for all other sub-forums. This is a gigantic time waster. Look at my posted image and see how every other forum in the world does it– much better.

It's hard to miss anything these days, few people care about every section right?
Have a section populate topics with new replies only, sure but is that worth a few extra clicks? [smiley=bath.gif]

Even if there were new posts in all 9 subforums, surely it would only take 30-45 seconds to check all of them, versus scanning all posts on a single page like the image you linked would probably still take around 15 seconds?

If you're clicking back and forth a lot and your computer/internet is slow, you can still right click subforums and open them all up in new tabs fairly quickly I would think.

Just doesn't seem worth trying to implement this unless it's already a default feature of the forum, which it doesn't seem to be.

That’s what I’m worried about. I think this forum might be terribly outdated, because it’s literally the only forum out of 8 forums (yes I counted them all) that I visit that doesn’t have this function. I’d really like for it to be implemented but if Alex or whoever says that it would require way too much coding, I understand…

What's the big deal about spending 30-45 seconds checking the forum? That's not a lot of time if you ask me.

Not sure how many sections you frequent but you only have to check 10 at most.

Try adding topics to your Favorites. You can view them from "My Center" and see just your favorite topics.

YaBB never got a See New Since Last Visit function. Looks like someone made a mod here (http://www.boardmod.org/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1421340836/0#0) but I doubt anyone wants to take the time to merge it with our current version. Not even sure if that does exactly what it seems like.

Probably somebody could make a hackish version of the same thing without a crazy amount of effort since the user profile stores a last visit time and each topic is in its own file with a last modified time.
