If you hold up you get a speed boost, and since the ramp is higher than the ledge you're fine. Try landing right into the first coins of the ledge. I think you could've gotten it in your run aswell if you just held your drift. There is no reason to release it where you did, I'm pretty sure it would always be better to just hold your drift there, even if it doesn't give you the red one I don't trick, aren't I already doing this?
