Title: How to race without pressing A Post by Jazzy on 05/26/15 at 19:00:11 I'm sure others have figured this out, but since I couldn't find any discussion about this on these forums, I'll show you a way I came up with to race MK8 without pressing A at all. I've tested this on the Pro Controller, although this trick may also work with the Classic Controller and Gamepad as well. So to race without pressing A, follow these steps: 1. When you connect the controller, hold the right joystick all the way down. If your controller is already connected, you can reconnect it by pressing the home button and going to controller settings. 2. Now, you will always have the "gas pedal" pressed, so you will crash at the start of a race. To get the start boost, hold the right joystick down before the race starts, until right after the "2" displays, when you should release it. And now, you will be driving at full speed, without pressing A! And even if you do press A, nothing will happen. Also, if you ever want to quickly "release" A, you can flick the right joystick down for a moment. Let me know what you think, and if you already know about this, just let me know. |

Title: Re: How to race without pressing A Post by Jazzy on 05/26/15 at 20:40:44 LOOOOOOOOOL!!!!! I just TT'd SNES Rainbow Road in 6'07"447 without pressing any buttons at all, with the exception of X (rearview) twice, to keep the controller awake. I posted the MKTV replay to Miiverse, for anyone who wants to see it. And, if this hasn't been done before (not sure) I'd be THRILLED if, as a joke, mindscarp created "WR" videos for races done without pressing buttons ;) (Just a thought...) https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAADVHkH8JQ3Aw |

The biggest problem about doing this is that brakedrifting becomes a real problem Therefore,it's not that useful. |
