Title: Buying WiiU only for MK8? Post by LeOsTyLe on 03/22/15 at 15:42:43 Hello, i am thinking about to buy a WiiU + Mario Kart 8. In my childhood i played Super Mario Kart very often. After i saw a advertisement i began to watch some Mario Kart 8 Video on youtube and it saw like a funny game. 1) Is it worth to buy a WiiU only for Mario Kart 8? Have this game long time fun like Super Mario Kart on the Super Nintendo? Or is it just a game you play some weeks and than you go play another game and wait till the next Mario Kart comes out? I know this is hard to answer but whats your opinion? 2) I am specially intressted in the online mode. Is this game good playable online or are the lags to high? 3) I know every mario kart is luck dependent on which items you get, etc. but how much is it in Mario kart 8. I heard in 8 there is a better item balance than in the other mario kart games is it right? 4) And how important is your driving style. I remember in Super Mario Kart it could make a huge diffrent, when you know how to take the bends, then to break etc. Is this in Mario Kart 8 too or is the diffrents you get from better driving style small? It would be great when more when 1 people answer, so i have more than 1 opinion. |

Title: Re: Buying WiiU only for MK8? Post by J-Cop on 03/22/15 at 18:21:14 I would never recommend buying a system just for one game. If you already had a Wii U or would use it for multiple games over the next few years, then I'd recommend buying MK8, but it's nowhere near good enough on its own for you to get a Wii U. |

Title: Re: Buying WiiU only for MK8? Post by Mick on 03/23/15 at 00:29:32 If you have only played Super Mario Kart from the series, Mario Kart 8 has a radically different feel in terms of driving and physics compared to the oldest games. The most recent games are nowhere as slippery for instance, and handles drifting differently. However, if you do enjoy the game, you can easily get several hundreds of hours out of the multiplayer and online alone (not to mention time trial mode of course :P). The online has a pretty good netcode overall, besides some annoying quirks, but that depends on your connection and the connection of the people you're racing though. A really bad apple in the pack can alter and delay the item draw, but fortunately that's not too common. You're also guaranteed to find opponents for years to come, even Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii are still played to this day despite no more official server support. Item are quite determinant in this game, and there are occasions when there will be nothing you can do about your draw. Many people are questioning the item balance as well, particularly with how items are attributed depending on distance from 1st place rather than current rank, and the 1-item limit. Nonetheless, driving skill and item usage makes a noticeable difference in the long run, and the learning curve is fairly interesting if you're willing to put up with some of the techs. Not as significant as SMK, but enough to beat or even crush mediocre players most of the time. Overall, you ought to at least try out the game before considering buying a console just for it. Being a SMK fan doesn't mean you'll like the game upon testing it. There are other good games on the Wii U at least, but still... |

Title: Re: Buying WiiU only for MK8? Post by ShadowBalla on 03/25/15 at 20:52:44 I bought the wii u just for MK8. And i compare it to buying 3ds for pokemon. IMO mk8 is not worth it for the average person. However, I have spent many hours on it and have gotten my value for it, but I believe for most people this will not be the case. On the other hand, pokemon has felt 100% worth it. If i wasnt involved in the competitive scene it would have been a huge regret buying the console. |
