Title: Re: DLC Confirmed!? Post by RRD on 08/26/14 at 13:33:35 I hope the Players' Page rankings and Cole's WR website are ready to host additional courses and decide whether they count or not in stats. If not, better think about it quick. |

We've got until November so not too urgent I think only very few won't want to pay £7 (or whatever your currency is) in November and £7 in May for 16 new tracks so I think they should be included... The console and game cost a lot already, I'm not sure if some tracks shouldn't be on the PP just because they also cost a few $ |

Title: Re: DLC Confirmed!? Post by Suuper on 08/26/14 at 14:49:54 Perhaps track the new course times like SC times - a total non-DLC ranking and a total all courses. Or like PRB and non-PRB in MKDS? |

I don't see why not unless there's some odd limit as to how many tracks he can put. I mean, the MKs that don't have retro cups don't have the same amount either. I think they should be included as normal courses, anyway. The price isn't too hefty. |

Yeah, I can add the new tracks to my site. My plan so far: -The WR table will have a 2nd section called "DLC tracks". -DLC tracks will be weighted the same as the original tracks for rankings/statistics/WR tally. I could make separate rankings but I feel there's no reason to because the new tracks will most likely be just as competitive. -The "total time" for the original 32 tracks will remain. This will be pretty much the only thing on the site that is "original tracks only". -When the DLC tracks come out, the WRs at the end of the day will be entered as the first set of WRs for those tracks (similar to what we did for pre-release WRs). For the PP, it would make sense to have some sort of separate rankings for the AF chart, since players shouldn't have to keep buying new tracks just to have an AF. Maybe there should be an AF chart for the original 32 + an AF chart for the original+DLC. |

Title: Re: DLC Confirmed!? Post by Mick on 08/26/14 at 23:41:51 Yooooooooooooo wtf !!! Didn't think it would be announced so soon, and it's also incredible value for the price :o As for those who would ask if the new tracks would be included on the PP, well they shouldn't be on the main charts at least, for 2 obvious reasons : 1. They won't be available online in a few years, which means new people wouldn't be able to join once we're past 2020 or something 2. Not everyone will be able to download this (specifically the countries with no access to the eShop). This should affect very few people but it still wouldn't be fair for them) This could potentially apply to overpowered DLC karts that could show up as well, but I don't know how we could handle this yet. This said they should absolutely still be tracked in the site. What Cole proposed in the best option for me. |

Post by MH on 08/27/14 at 02:53:37 http://gaygamer.net/ggnet/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Shut-Up-And-Take-My-Rupees.jpg Maybe Nintendo decided to announce them earlier, since we found out about the DLC-icon-files on the MK8 disc a few weeks ago ;D We should definitely add them to the rankings, but keep an additional ranking for the 32 original tracks only. For the combined ranking just count the best of the two scores like it is done in MKW. Once DLC servers go offline in probably less than a decade, we will get a significant problem with newcomers, but maybe we will find a way to distribute the DLC tracks without the servers until then, kind of like the custom MKW servers were set up. |

Title: Re: DLC Confirmed!? Post by Rhodechill on 08/27/14 at 09:01:00 Looks like the only new character competitive TT'ers might get any use of out of this is Dry Bowser, since all the others seem quite light in weight. I was hoping for a Magikruiser bike too, haha. I hope rWGM will fix the demented pulling effects of the downward ramps that occurred while drifting on them in MKW. I wonder if we will get more DLC down the road. How do you use the colored Yoshis at the present time like Cole has? |

Title: Re: DLC Confirmed!? Post by Zepple on 08/27/14 at 09:44:59 That looks so great, can't wait for this! Will the new tracks be playable online btw? Maybe special rooms where you select an option and only people who have the DLC can join, idk... |

Title: Re: DLC Confirmed!? Post by Zepple on 08/27/14 at 13:00:56 I don't think it'll work as you said since these tracks worth money. That would be weird to be able to play them online without paying. Nevermind, we'll be aware of that quite soon I guess. |

It will probably work like this only for DLC characters & vehicles. There's no way Nintendo forces everyone to download a 2 GB update just to have the right to play online. 2E070D0C07210311160310620 wrote:

Title: Re: DLC Confirmed!? Post by UchihaSDA on 08/29/14 at 20:50:04 i think they'll just let people be able to play the tracks online to advertise them. online is an uncontrolled enviorment and you can't play the tracks whenever you want there anyway. it's about the same as playing the DLC stuff on a friend's console. you still get to play them without paying for the DLC. the real treat is playing them when you want and you have to pay for that. same with characters and karts which you'd be able to see online but not use unless buying the DLC. 040412560 wrote:

Yeah, these are games that Wii U Basic owners can get on disc, not patches they're forced to download in order to play online. There's no 2 GB patch as far as I am aware. Games bigger than 3 GB already existed at the launch of the Wii U in 2012, where both packs were released, so it's a non-factor. The 8 GB Wii U is not discontinued in Japan. http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wiiu/hardware/index.html#setcontainer Mario Golf: World Tour is the only Nintendo game I can think of that has online play and DLC courses. If everyone has the DLC courses in the lobby, they can be voted for; otherwise, they don't show up. http://www.gamefaqs.com/3ds/704056-mario-golf-world-tour/answers/371254-can-you-really-not-use-dlc-maps-characters-in-online-random http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/704056-mario-golf-world-tour/69283794 DLC courses could only be used in private rooms / communities with code. They are not usable in random matches even if everybody has them. |

Title: Re: DLC Confirmed!? Post by ShitoRyu on 09/28/14 at 04:07:34 About PP and the DLC... For the AF (which is the important thing), I guess it could be a good idea to have 2 AFs: one without the DLC, one with the DLC. Then the real AF is the minor of the two. This way you can either compete without the DLC or with the DLC (which gives you an advantage of having two AFs and taking the minor one, as well as probably minor competition in the DLC tracks since somebody won't buy it, at the cost of having to play 48 tracks instead of 32 and so spending less time for each track). Idk if anyone has a better idea.... |

Will probably turn into on of my favorites. - It would make sense for the new vehicle to be an ATV, and its design lends to it being on, still quite hard to tell though. Speaking of which, I will also use this post to mention that a global Nintendo Direct will be airing 3 hours from now, and that MK8 DLC content will likely be discussed and shown there. In fact, a new page on the official site of MK8, about the usage of the Amiibos for MK8, has already leaked (but taken down since). Those figurines will alledgely unlock new costumes for Miis, corresponding to the character represented in the figurine. Non-Mario characters like Captain Falcon or Fox may be supported as well, but we should still wait for official confirmation. |

Was going to post this, thanks! There's also this video that shows really well the whole content of the pack : We now know all the tracks for the first pack! Egg Cup Yoshi Circuit (GCN) Excitebike Arena Dragon Driftway Mute City Triforce Cup Wario's Gold Mine (Wii) Rainbow Road (SNES) Ice Ice Outpost Hyrule Circuit I agree we should start to discuss which abbreviations to use, especially for SNES RR :P For Mute City, we should do like MKDD which had both Mario Circuit and Mushroom City, with the latter being designated as MuC, and the former as MaC. This could cause trouble for the people that are used to go with MC for Mario Circuit though. Another idea would be to denote the DLC tracks with their own letters. After all they will have their own charts! |

Except maybe Excite Bike Arena. It looks like it could get boring. I wonder if WR runs will use the shrooms in the grass or if it would be faster to shroom + firehop up a steep, lengthy ramp. |

Title: Re: Paid DLC packs information (Pack 1 - Nov. 13) Post by SamH on 11/13/14 at 05:31:52 I think the Blue Falcon has a new stat set? Doesn't seem equal to the Mach 8 or the Pipe Frame Quite like some of the new tracks, Yoshi Circuit feels quite technical and high intensity, a bit different to some other tracks in the game, but maybe that's because it's new edit: MickX posted the stats here http://mkboards.com/forums/threads/new-dlc-amiibo-trailers-discussion.10132/page-5 |

Title: Re: Paid DLC packs information (Pack 1 - Nov. 13) Post by MH on 11/13/14 at 06:43:38 Yoshi Circuit is a track which fits perfectly to MK8's driving physics imo. The only other similar track which comes to mind is RRRy. They are pretty much pure driving. Blue Falcon actually has a different stat than the other karts. It is a legit candidate for a new top combo, as it's speed is just 0,25 away from the top speed karts. Same goes for Master Cycle which is 0,25 faster than Sports Bike. I doubt, it will revive bikes in TT, though. |

Title: Re: Paid DLC packs information (Pack 1 - Nov. 13) Post by J-Cop on 11/15/14 at 00:41:48 What do you guys think of the new tracks so far? I like Yoshi Circuit because of how fast it feels. It smooths out a little toward the end, but you're constantly drifting and doing mini-turbos for most of the track. Hyrule Circuit is also great, but I don't know if I like it more because it's a Zelda track or if it really is that good. Dragon Driftway and Ice Ice Outpost are nice because they're completely original, not re-made or based off of other games, and they both turned out pretty good imo. The only one I dislike is Mute City. I can't explain why, I just don't enjoy it. |

Title: Re: Paid DLC packs information (Pack 1 - Nov. 13) Post by MH on 11/15/14 at 05:32:02 Yoshi Circuit and Hyrule Circuit (I am still wondering why they didn't name it "Hyrule Castle") are my favorite tracks in the pack so far, it's hard to decide which one I like most, but at the moment I would go with Yoshi Circuit, because of the nice nostalgic Double Dash-feeling^^ I like Ice Ice Outpost design-wise a lot, but Nintendo failed miserably with the shortcuts on this track. They should have taken the hopping physics into account and made the ramps cut a little bit more of the corners :( This could have made the track way more entertaining. Mute City is what to expect from a F-Zero-track, very fast paced with crazy gravity, I like it. My least favorite track is SNES Rainbow Road. The graphics look really nice, but I'm at that point where I actually had enough of this course. It got remade so often, it just doesn't feel special anymore. I had preferred a SNES Bowser Castle or SNES Ghost Valley ;) Btw.: When will the DLC track charts go online on the Players' Page? I know there has to be worked out some stuff for the rankings, but really, the DLC was announced for such a long time now - wasn't there enough time to prepare things? |

Not noted there is that the P-Wing is going to be a top-speed kart while the Bone Rattler will be an ATV which strengths are weight and traction, based on this 4gamer article (http://www.4gamer.net/games/220/G022038/20150415041/). Really excited for the two GBA tracks (Cheese Land and Ribbon Road, finally!) and Big Blue. |

Title: Re: Paid DLC packs information (Pack 2 - Apr. 23) Post by J-Cop on 04/16/15 at 07:50:37 I've never liked Baby Park. It will probably be my least favorite track in this bundle. Ribbon Road looks interesting, but I'd probably like it better if it was flat like the original. Same with Cheese Land. I'm not a huge fan of Animal Crossing, but I like what they did with that track. The four original tracks look like they'll be a lot of fun. |
