Hi,

I made a post shortly ago and it went through fine, then tried another one and got this:

"Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /cgi-bn/yabb2/YaBB.pl on this server.

Additionally a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

I tried logging in and out, trying with different browsers and even different PCs, getting the same error with all.

Has anyone else got this tonight, and can it be fixed asap?

IIRC MVT or someone had this issue in either 2010 or 2011, not quite sure how it was solved.

And if I recall correctly, MVT was trying to make a large post, but it had a word or combo of words in it that weren't allowed, and there was some weird conditionals too like you could use it if you had only one sentence or something. I don't think that one got resolved; iirc it was something controlled by YaBB or something.

I think I figured this out finally, after over a year.

Believe it's caused by "mod_security"...seems to match symptoms but I can't confirm without seeing apache's error logs.

Did some quick peeking and it looks like one possible fix is to add the following to an .htaccess that applies to the forum code:

Alex/Jones/Lacey will have to take it from there.

The issues reported in the original topic linked above are pretty likely from mod_security, but I'm not so sure about the one someone reported about the MKW TAS topic. I looked at the first post there and I can't quite figure out what's going on there...I'm guessing there are some error log messages from when I just played around with it.

I have the same problem while trying to post the topic about SMK CDM 2014. I'd like to have it fixed asap because the post is very long and I'd like to have it posted at the same time as I did on many other boards...

I can send the topic text to an admin by email if requested.

I was making a post in the MKWii section not too long ago, and it wouldn't let me post if I used words like "channel" and/or "video" and/or "streaming." When I removed certain words like these, the post went through...

Those anti-span filters are server wide and implemented by our hosting company. I'm pretty sure we don't have any control over what words are listed. :-X
Scott made a suggestion on how to bypass part of the filter (assuming it's the one), but there's various reasons and arguments why that might be a bad idea.

Well do you have access to a list of banned words? It would be nice to know for future reference since it's a lot harder to find out the banned word through trial and error.

I believe the list of words would be set specifically by the admin of the server. They would probably not want to release the list since it would just give any potential spam generators a list of what not to say.

I had an issue yesterday. I had to pare down my post, testing paragraph by paragraph, then rewrote the offending paragraph.

The culprit was:
"I got a c0uple videos without the jump..."

It seems that "couple" and "videos" together might denote porn.

Just an educated guess based on previous experience, but I think you can get around the filter by putting in a useless tag, like [ b][/ b] (of course without the spaces) somewhere in the word or phrase.

The word poker is banned, for instance, but if you quote this post you can see what I did to get around it. If you try to remove the filler tag, you'll get a "Forbidden" type of error.

You're correct there Yasten. The reason I didn't think of that is that I did not try to isolate it when making my original post. I only isolated the paragraph, erased it, and rewrote it from scratch- only when posting in this thread did I try to find the exact cause. But yes, "a couple OF" videos would have worked great.

That's funny how you used the "bold" tag with absolutely nothing.
