Title: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by Lafungo on 09/27/12 at 15:59:24 I've been thinking recently about how annoying shrooms can be in MKSC, with difficult shroomspots and tons of stupid SCs. Since MKSC is supposed to be SMK's sequel, I thought it'd be interesting to try playing without shrooms, just like in the original. If I get some times in, I'll create some tables to keep track of competition. As for rules, I was thinking of making two separate categories: SC and Non-SC, where SC is anything that makes you deviate from the actual track (like RiR jump to the right/left, BC3 SC...) and Non-SC stays only on the track's normal path. Lap skips are banned altogether. As for ZZMT, I would prefer if it's not used, but will accept them (however I will probably mark them on the charts). Feel free to raise up any issues with the rules/questions you may have and start posting some times! -Christophe. Edit: Here's the page with rankings for each track: http://speedrunwiki.com/MKSC_SMK-Style_Times |

Title: Re: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by BPA on 09/27/12 at 23:22:16 Funny because I always thought it'd be cool to have triple shrooms at your disposal at SMK... [smiley=evil.gif] I might try this on a few tracks tonight, sans ZZMT. |

Title: Re: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by Mario86 on 09/27/12 at 23:29:55 If LBs were banned too in a SMK Time Trial with mushrooms it wouldn't be that cool, since there wouldn't be loads of big shortcuts to give a try too, apart for the f-laps that would make no sense compared to the global runs :( |

Title: Re: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by Lafungo on 09/29/12 at 12:09:04 I'll accept Fenner's times unless someone objects to them. As for SC/Non-SC, I'm still unsure as to how strict I want the difference to be. For example, should we consider the CL double-bumper strat SC? What about cloud hopping on SG? Or even PJs on the rGVs? I tempted to say yes, since this is an alternate challenge and I feel that Non-SC should be "pure driving". Please share your thoughts to set up SC/Non-SC limitations. I'll add charts soon (maybe I'll do them on a SpeedRunWiki page to not clutter up the first post). -Christophe. |

Title: Re: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by Shock on 04/27/13 at 19:37:13 Hah, forgot about that page... Yeah, they're all ZZMT. I don't have a non-ZZMT console and I don't want to try non-ZZMT stuff because some MTs that require countersteering to charge up would be pretty questionable at times. |

Title: Re: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by Johan on 05/15/17 at 06:58:56 Hi. I finally got my own copy of the game today (however, I had already had the opportunity to try the game in the last weeks). Played GP a little to unlock a few things and then jumped to TT. As a non-NBT SMK player, no-shroom non-ZZMT was the first thing to try! rMC1 : 52"58 / 10"30 |

Title: Re: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by Johan on 05/28/17 at 04:06:34 rMC1: 10"25 I have a vid but it's so blurred that the time is barely readable. I have to say I use an old digital camera but it's ok to record SMK vids so is there something special to do to record MKSC vids which would not be too blurred? By the way, is the page on speedrunwiki.com still updated (http://speedrunwiki.com/MKSC_SMK-Style_Times)? And more important, do some people still play this way (non-ZZMT + no-shroom) or not? |

Title: Re: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by Etch on 05/28/17 at 13:28:28 Does it have a macro mode? If not, try getting it in focus further away then get it closer if all you desire is that the times are discernible. Also, no idea why we just don't have the records listed in the first post. I might move that over later if things stay active. I actually gave this a spin and it's a lot less worrisome when you aren't trying to jam in several zzmt's per lap, lol. Title: Re: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by Johan on 05/28/17 at 22:08:50 Thanks for your answer, Etch. However, in the first post of the topic, Lafungo had explained this: 4C6166756E676F000 wrote:
How are off-road boosts like yours considered? SC or non-SC? Being a non-NBT SMK player, I tend to avoid them and that's what I've done so far in MKSC but how are they considered in this topic? By the way, another little improvement (so, non-ZZMT + no-shroom + no off-road boosts): rMC1: 10"23 |

Title: Re: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by Etch on 05/29/17 at 04:31:33 Good question, I just went by the site non-sc rules which let you mt anywhere. 6B464152494048270 wrote:
Like he mentioned, spots like CL and SG would require writing a whole new list of rules about which routes are banned and how non-zzmt's are used. You might find this topic interesting as well, much closer to non-nbt style driving. It's as pure as hopping gets in this game. Title: Re: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by Johan on 05/29/17 at 05:31:17 In fact, non-NBT in SMK allows on-road boosts as long as they are "natural" (no zig-zag or things like that to generate them) so I'm not sure "No Shroom and No MT" would be closer to non-NBT than the current topic. In fact, the closest thing to non-NBT might be the rules of the current topic... but on rRR! ;) |
|
Title: Re: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by Etch on 05/29/17 at 06:06:34 Easier to just ban them all than go through each course...[smiley=bath.gif] It sounds like this should be a boiled down version of non-zzmt where going off-road and delaying mt's falls into the unnatural category? There are also some spots where you slide in a straight to build a non-zzmt. Without any official guidelines, I'm not sure what this topic wants to be since zzmt are also included. Nothing in this game honestly feels all that natural...;D |

Title: Re: MKSC TTs - SMK Style Post by Chrono Krysster on 05/31/17 at 22:15:01 "MKSC TTs - SMK Style" Interesting, it reminds me of something.. whatever, thank you Johan for the bump :) @Etch I encourage you to continue playing SMK, so why not "SMK TTs - MKSC Style", yeah ikr these shrooms are difficult to use in Time Trial there ;D |
