Title: Question about a specific goal
Post by Shock on 07/03/12 at 10:10:08

Hey everyone, quick question for you to answer and think about if you wish. What is your highest ranked time and your lowest ranked time? What tracks are these specifically? Do you have a goal by the end of 2012 regarding them? (Do you want a better ranked best time or a more respectable worst time?)

I've decided to focus my own playing around achieving a goal like this. I think I have only 11 times that are outside the top 3.

My best time is hard for me to decide since I have several WRs, but I would have to say a few good candidates would be SG course, CCI course, LC course, and BC1 course.

My poorest time is ranked sixth, and it is Rainbow Road course.

So, my goal for the rest of 2012 is improve those 11 times into the top 3, and have a time sheet showing only 1s, 2s, and 3s. I'd also like to have at least 70 times that are first or second overall and 10 third place finishes or less.

What are your goals regarding this? Do you specialize on a course and want to continue to improve it? Do you want to bring all your times into the top 40 or 50 or 10? Let's hear your aspirations for the rest of 2012!

My worst time RKB1 flap. I wanted to improve that, but my GBA is fucked... and I can't be arsed to get a new one.

My best ranked time is my SGB flap: 12"10. Poor. That's my best time, but I want to sub this. And I will do this someday.

Shock, your goal of improving every time into the TOP3 is amazing. I wish you the best of luck to achieve it, it's clearly not easy!

I already gave it 1 shot in the beginning of 2k12 but ruined a GBA in the process, but I'd like to properly modify my GBA to ZZMT. Then my mission of obtaining the Dutch #1 and the majority of the CR's will be a piece of cake. So yeah that's my goal; getting that Dutch crown back.  :)

Alvin is currently #19, perfectly viable to reach without ZZMT, but it's not motivating me to play if I know there are better strategies, which are easy to perform, but inaccessible because of equipment. I feel like a caged tiger, so I really need that sorted at one point.

My #1 goal is to obtain as many non-ZZMT WRs as possible. I don't think I can pass Mick for overall champion, but if I can grab as many records as possible I will be happy. At the moment I'm playing different circuits in a dual attempt to improve my personal records, but also to scope out my potential on tracks I could take the site/world record on, so improving my AF is an inevitibility if not the end target.

Seb is currently second on the records list with 12; I have 6 (funnily enough we're both tied on course records, 4 each, but he destroys me on flaps 8-2). Passing Seb's record total will be the first mini goal.

My highest ranked time is RMC2. I won't play this track again any time soon, I know I can improve it but it'll be difficult to do and the ratio of playtime-to-PR required to improve here is inefficient compared to the times I can improve elsewhere.

My worst ranked time is PC. This will be easy to improve, and it's a track I enjoy playing. I know Su has 47"1x using the strat I used for my PR but I'm fairly sure a different strat here would yield far greater results. This might be a track I'll try again soon, I played it a few months ago to no success but I've regained much of my overall skill since then. More importantly I think, in my peaks, I've become a slightly better player than I was 5 years ago, though some of my old weaknesses remain and I have some slight inconsistency in ability across different types of tracks. I am particularly poor at tracks that require tight playing with little room for error (ie most flaps). I much prefer longer tracks that require consistency, which essentially means courses and long flaps. I have to improve the former if I want to gain as many records as possible.

^Su's 46"96 was sloppy for his standards. I'm sure it can go as low as 46"7x nonZZMT.

My best time is probably RR 34"91, though I'm not satisfied with it at all. Back before I took a break, I had failed several runs that would have beaten Hirano's 34"63, and getting this WR is still on my to-do list. I have mostly empty slots for the PP, but among the ones that I have submitted, BC3 would have to be the worst, placing in at #46 with 1'23"78. This was back from when I was a "baby" at MKSC though, and I have tried it according to the PP rules since. Crashed several sub-1'20 runs but never seem to finish one.

For SC though...

My best time would have to be one of my 19+ SC WR's (I can't really choose; all of the not-max'd-out times are on my to-do list for big improvements). In terms of hardest-to-beat, though, I would have to say that either my Choco Island 1 or 2 are some of the hardest SC times to beat (unless you're Su >_>), even though they both place in at #2. My worst time is definitely Vanilla Lake 1 flap, placing in at #11 or so, with 5"17.

With that said, my goal is still to sub 2.0000 AF in SC and break at least top5 on PP, preferably top3.

And now for nonSC (not following PP rules though). Though I'm ranked #5 here, it's only because I haven't spent nearly as much time as I have on SC improving my times. My "dream" is to beat Hirano of course (though this also relies on how many people beat his "weak" times, such as SGB 48"60). I don't remember my best time and I'm too lazy to check, but I definitely take pride in my 2/3 Sky Garden big SC landing run, which places in at #2 WW. I don't remember my worst run, but I know my Boo Lake 1'13"93 can be improved by another 2 seconds if I just used the ticking strat.

My best ranked times are obviously my #6 CCI times, of which I think the flap is much stronger (3lap is still full of mistakes). As I've mentioned in the goal thread, I'd like to sub 50" on the 3lap and sub 12" on the flap, which would get me at least rank #4 in both cases.

Now that I've gotten rid of my horrendous rCI1 flap (was ranked #65), my worst ranked times are PC flap, ranked #55, and rVL1 flap, ranked #54. They're my only two remaining times left outside the Top 50 (I do have a couple others that are at risk, ranked exactly #50) so one of my goals for this year is to get all my times into the Top 50.

-Christophe.

Is there a video of his 46"96 available anywhere?

Cheers! Thought I'd seen it before (most likely when it was set) but couldn't find it recently. That didn't seem too sloppy a run.

If you compare his 47"1x to that, you'll see that he took most of the corners wider.

New goal: to become UK #1 by the end of the year.

Goal for these year is to take over Luca for Italy #2 if i have spare time after SMK and MKDS.

After that, switch to the dark side and take the Italian crown.
