In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda, Super Mario 3DS is getting a special Zelda themed level. Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5811152/heres-a-look-at-the-zelda-tribute-level-in-super-mario-3ds) has more info and a short clip on that. So that got me thinking... mk3ds also comes out this year, so they might do a similar Zelda tribute in mk3ds.

Would you want a zelda tribute in mk3ds? If so, what would you want to see?

I'm a huge Zelda fan, so I'd love it. However it shouldn't be too big that it changes the feel of the game, nor too small that it's meaningless.

A Zelda themed track would be awesome imo! I'd like to see them pick 1 game and design the track through the main area(s) of that game. Any console game since Ocarina of Time works for me. Then, include some Zelda music and scenes/characters/enemies from the game so it feels more alive.

A track based on Wuhu Island (which is from Wii Fit, Wii Sports Resort, and Pilotwings Resort) is in mk3ds, so Nintendo has already started including tracks from games outside the Mario world. So I don't think a Zelda track would be too crazy of an idea. Also, creating tracks based on other games could help add some variety to the tracks too.

Well that wouldn't be the first time that another franchise is referenced in a Mario Kart.

Mario Kart Wii has the Blue Falcon from F-Zero. And technically R.O.B. isn't a "Mario" character.

Therefore I don't see your idea as impossible, though I don't where in the Hyrule world would make an interesting track. I have some custom tracks Zelda related in Mario Kart Wii, but they don't look very interesting.

Personally I don't think it's gonna happen.

But considering there was a Donkey Kong Country themed track, I don't see why ever not :D

I could actually imagine getting for example the fire dungeon of Wind Waker for a track or the ice tempel of TP(the one with the yeti).

I'm still wondering if Nintendo will ever go the Super Smash Bros route and just incorporate characters across all franchises into the MarioKart series. It seems far-fetched, but I wouldn't doubt it in the future to spice up the series a bit.

I hadn't thought of temples being used, that could be awesome. The wind waker style would be amazing! Also, the King of Red Lions (the boat from WW) would make a cool kart... just puts some wheels on it.

The idea of non-mario characters in MK really puts me off, it would take away the unique flavour of mk and make it into a game like SSB which i dont want :/

I don't dislike the idea of having tracks and characters from different games in MK3D, but they must fit the MK world. The Blue Falcon and ROB were good additions, but having Samus on a kart wouldn't be a good idea. The DKCR-themed track seems kinda promising though, so I think Nintendo will do their job right if they decide to implement other characters in this game. :)
