Title: Re: E3 Video Post by GenesisX on 06/07/11 at 09:27:47 Yep Maple Treeway (I beg its less glitchy) The underwater stuff looks cool, and the glider (depending on how much it can be controlled) could possible lead to a glitch or two if not checked carefully. The new tracks look nice and the tyre customisation will (hopefully) lead to many different combinations having WR's which would be a freshing change imo. |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by ALAKTORN on 06/07/11 at 09:29:22 the vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MBrs4UHocI looks like shit to me tracks I recognized: Airship Fortress Maple Treeway Mario Circuit (the one that's retro in MKW... don't know which MK it's actually from) Luigi's Mansion Mushroom Gorge(?) Koopa Cape(?) |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by GenesisX on 06/07/11 at 09:34:24 Huh I couldnt see Mushroom orge in that vid (maybe im blind) and yeah that could be KC. I am shocked that Coconut Mall and Toads Factory were not retro Wii tracks as (imo) they were tracks with very unique themes that I have not seen on other tracks, also the 3DS could make the stuff at the sidelines on CM look very nice :P |

Just because they weren't in the vid doesn't mean they won't be in the game. MG and KC are definitely not in the vid. But the bouncy flower may be a replacement for bouncy mushrooms. I reckon there'll be more glitches in this game that MKDS because of the extra weirdness. |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by Chris on 06/07/11 at 09:54:47 Imo the new Mario Kart has some very interesting new features. A Paraglider is a nice idea imo and the underwater stuff was also nice to watch. The option to choose the wheels of karts is a bit weird. But I'll 100% get that game! |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by GenesisX on 06/07/11 at 09:59:15 Good point Nosey! On the topic of the tyres, assuming the stat system is the same it will probably be that certain car frames give a certain stat and then whatever stat the tyres give would be added to that to give your vehicle stats, I'm sure the tyres added was just an extra feature so people can get the vehicles to behave more to their liking EDIT: What are the coins about out of interest? |

in SMK and MKSC they're GP only and make your kart go faster (like bananas in DKR) |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by Husky217 on 06/07/11 at 10:34:20 The trailer looks pretty decent imo, though it's not enough to really have a good idea of the game. Hopefully it will be playable soon so we can get some better impressions. I was glad to not see tricks and bikes. The gliding and underwater stuff is cool with me, as long as it's done right and not overused. I thought it was weird Luigi was gliding over the mud section in luigi's mansion since there are no jumps there. Then around 1:16 in the vid Alaktorn posted, you see a ramp on the right side was added to the track. So retro tracks may be changed to suit the new features. Hopefully the gliding doesn't open up all kinds of glitch shortcuts (like in mkwii. the one in mkds rr is cool haha) Around 1:20 in the vid, you see yoshi driving underwater, then mario drops in from gliding in the air... that could be a cool dynamic of competing tactics and paths. Blooper is back... lame. Bananas and red shells were the only other items I saw. I wonder how items might act differently in gliding or underwater. e.g. maybe a shroom while gliding allows you to pull up and go higher than you otherwise could, opening up new paths. a little kart customization is cool, but those tire choices looked ridiculous. |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by V|K on 06/07/11 at 11:07:34 When I saw the paragliders and the underwater part I thought about Diddy Kong Racing :) What I also hope is that the retro tracks are all "new" tracks (meaning that they haven't been retro tracks in MKDS or MKW). We didn't see any new items, did we? I would have found it nice to see the character special items like in MKDD again. About the tires, I think they probably won't have advantages and disadvantages. Only imagine every track having an own best combination of kart/tire/character... Talking about course specialists ::) |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by DarkRoy on 06/07/11 at 11:23:18 It looks great! :) The kart personalization is a great addiction, and so are the paraglider and the submarine thing. What really matters now is balancing the different components of the kart; if MK3DS will be balanced well, we'll have a great game to play with. I really liked the tracks that were presented, they're very good looking! :) I just hope the cloud won't be in it, I would laugh so much getting one just before a paraglider segment. Title: Re: E3 Video Post by Mwopick on 06/07/11 at 11:42:33 Customisation will be really cool. We'll have to see yet to how much extent it will be possible, and how it will affect the kart, but an old dream of karter is fulfilled :D I also like the underwater driving, and in general the new tracks look well made. The aircraft is a curious addition, I wonder how much it will add to the gaming experience (imagine yourself dropping a bomb from the sky 8-)) but I fear for cheap shortcuts. And to think the game is likely playable at the E3... Christmas can be close enough ! |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by MKDasher on 06/07/11 at 12:02:14 Fuck yeah Airship Fortress :D Also I could see the yoshi's egg, Id prefer BLS though ;D |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by Ridley_ on 06/07/11 at 12:20:44 So.. it's definitely MKW drifting style :( Anyway, that looks fun to me, even if I was hoping for something more traditionnal. |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by robman60 on 06/07/11 at 12:24:16 Looks really impressive I think. The customisation of tyres is unneeded imo, but most of the other things seem like nice additions. |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by NEo Bazz on 06/07/11 at 13:09:51 So first off, I'm going to say this will cause a decrease in grades in my upcoming semester(s). But I digress.. It looks like a great game. From what I can see the MTs look like a modified version of what MK-Wii does. It looks to have a little bit more sliding-style of MKDS, but the MTs still look like MK-Wii. I like the whole 'more customization' thing. This could offer a new set of options that aren't just character and kart. If I'm guessing correctly, the wheel size will probably be similar to F-Zero's "Accel --> Max Speed" slider. For example, bigger wheels would be higher speed, but slower acceleration; small wheels = fast acceleration, but not a huge top speed. But thats only a guess - but it makes sense to me. Anyways though, I'm glad to see some of the longer tracks back. I just hope they still put in a good deal of short tracks though; I wasn't a fan of how MK-Wii generally went towards longer tracks. Also, the whole water and air thing will be very cool. I can't wait to see what will come of it. I feel like someone is going to do something stupid though and make plenty of SCs with the glider. haha. Hopefully there wont be a boatload of shortcuts similar to MK64's Rainbow Road. *Note to all friends (if this game is good): I will be playing this game, I will be coming back to MK, Pulsar will still drink, Moonside/Jeff/Arcadia/Whatever will still lose 75% of the time, we will be on IRC while playing, and I will never be #1. I look forward to seeing you on the WiFis. :D |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by wimmi on 06/07/11 at 13:13:29 I really hope the customization of the karts is just an optical effect and doesn't effect the stats at all... I want all karts&characters to have the same speed, so everybody can use whatever character he likes most + make his kart look like he wants it [smiley=smokin.gif] |
|
Title: Re: E3 Video Post by Utterrandomness on 06/07/11 at 14:27:31 ^ that removes the interest of experimenting with karts to see what works best |

Title: Re: E3 Video Post by inviso87 on 06/07/11 at 14:35:26 The tires probably effect paragliding and underwater. Certain tires may be lighter causing you to glide further and some tires may add additional offroad for going underwater. Also, it seems there will be multiple gliders. There will be a lot of stats for this game I think, which is both good and bad. |

Ah, but there was an element of that with the Characters and Vehicles in Mkwii, but each player soon after getting the game checked online and found the best combo for each track, although if the differences are as minimal as in MKDS, then that'd be good :) |
