Title: Ceci n'est pas une campagne
Post by TvL on 06/04/10 at 00:09:51

This is not a campaign.

I'm not going to ask for your vote; I woud like to get it, but I'm not desperate for it. Just vote for whoever you feel deserves it most.
I'm not going to make a funny story or a video to show what a great guy I can be; I aspire to be a great guy all the time, and not just once every two years. (Besides, I'm out of juggling tricks.)
I'm not going to do anything special if you vote for me or if I make it through; I would like to get votes for who I am, not for what I would or would not do.

There's one thing I can offer though: if you vote for me, you will have my gratitude. Even though I won't know (for sure) if you voted for me, you will know you have and so you will get it. And this will give you a nice, warm feeling.

Best of luck to my opponents; I hope there will be many of them to come!

In return for your gratitude I can offer you 1 free vote, plus 1 extra vote for each sister you've got whom you've taught to mini-turbo.

Vote for me in my match against The Gaff because I'm modest.

After seeing the bloated arrogance of Gaff's thread I think I will vote for you.  I think Tom may have just screwed himself out of the final 4 with his campaign post (I actually in a way hope not since I predicted him to go that far).  Modesty is valued however.   8-)

And you beat me so I owe you my vote anyway.

Needless to say I am cool.

Vote TvL

you've got my vote  :D because of math and physics skills, cool stuff like chess, and always being helpful

not for those terrible karting skills though

TvL has my vote. I can't stand The Gaff's thread either. Lining up ideas for the next rounds. When I play tennis, I play every opponent one at a time. You lose to one, you lose to all, so respect each and every adversary.

Also, TvL does stuff I like doing. I see him as a great physicist, and I want to be a physicist myself someday. I also like juggling. TvL juggles. TvL is modest. I, of course, am extremely humble. /sarcasm for the mentally challenged

This is the kind of guy I would vote for. Not Gaff, who based on his current campaign, does not do anything besides video games and the internet and expects a lot from the voters.

Vote for TvL, or don't vote at all. This guy deserves to "upset" Gaff.

Edit: Oops. Said this a little late. FFFUUUUU  [smiley=flush.gif]

Voted TvL as hard as I could.

I was running low on gratitude so this seemed like a good idea. [smiley=beer.gif]

Well, it was fun while it lasted, but it's over now. I didn't think I'd win, but I sure gave the Gaff a good run for his money! Just 9 votes separating me from the legend; and that's all thanks to you guys who've voted for me! :)

I will especially treasure the supporting posts, from Ivootjes, Shock and Etch, as well as those from KoopZ and robman60 in the vote sharing topic. Thanks so much, it means a lot to me. [insert smiley with a tear of happiness here]

I wish Tom good luck in his upcoming matches. He'd better have something very cool lined up, because he probably stole a lot of votes with his promises. ::)
Anyway Tom, if you're reading this, you've joined Alex Penev and Michael Fried on the list of people who've knocked me out. Not bad company eh?

See you all in 2012? I doubt it actually, my fingers are starting to itch again so I might be picking up the controller again, in which case it would be a lot sooner. [smiley=happy.gif]
Hm, maybe I should play SMK or MKSC to get some more votes from there next time... [smiley=evil.gif]

You and Tom were neck-and-neck when I voted. It looked like it would close.
I still enjoy your 2-threads-per-year. :-* I wish I knew more physics.

I was merely saying i'm not a one trick pony. I've got ideas lined up for future rounds. If people wanted to see them then it would be an incentive to vote for me.

I've no shame in campaigning - i started all this campaigning stuff!

Gotta say that TvL did extremely well and was good spirited all the way.

Preventing? Not preventing. Encouraging. It's exactly as Etch says. There are a lot of links that are fun to look at but useless to make topics for, because they'll get very few replies. There are also links that are fun to talk about. You should be able to make up your own mind which is which. Haven't you noticed that some topics that start out as a link are left alone? E.g. the facebook sex facts. That doesn't belong in Fun Stuff because it gets replies.

Most of the boards have no problems so maybe it's a demand for better posts he wants?

Jeff thinks the forum sucks more than it used to because I'm a buzzkill and delete lulz posts. I think it's the opposite. Many of the cool people (e.g. Fried, TvL, Finn, Ivootjes, Liem, Lacey, Duff, Hedley, even Booth, etc) don't post much now, so the only way the kiddies get to have their fun is to lower their standards and resort to lulz. Yet it's precisely the lulz that scares the cool people away, resulting in a vicious cycle.
Perhaps Jeff should go back in time and read some old posts from many years ago, and see if there was as much lulz as there is now.[/quote]

Being called cool by Alex... that's just a few kelvin!

Btw, I just noticed your post in the Physics topic; somehow it escaped my attention. It is definitely an omgwtf-thing. I'll reply tomorrow evening or so, I haven't got time now: I've got an exam tomorrow on condensed matter, which is literally some cool stuff! 8-)

I would've added KVD to the list-of-cool, of course, but he already posts lots =D. He must have built a resistance to kiddies.
