Maybe they hack their save file with impossible times then go online. :\

It's not too big of a problem though. We still will know the real WRs. If someone wants to record a WR ghost in higher quality then they can just exchange FCs with the WR holder. (I'm not entirely sure on that. You can view your friends' ghosts right?)

If the leader boards are all hacked/glitched then everyone won't be able to download real WR ghosts.

I got that on Koopa Cape. I would be 2nd on that course except 3 people have times of 1:02.297.

I'm totally not surprised by this..

The hacked times all seem identical for a course. Nintendo should be able to hotfix that quickly (ie..not allowing those exact times [may cause problems in future if anyone genuinely hits them])
Very annoying though.

Thats wonderful, nintendo deserve that for the ridiculous ranking system.

The ranking system is bloody stupid anyway, I can't see anywhere an actual numberical rank for myself. Yes it's very pretty to see all those faces on the screen but you have no idea what their actual time is or what rank they are numerically. Does a 1:16:xxx on the first course put me anywhere decent or does it suck? I haven't a clue because I don't get told my actual rank. Unless it's there somewhere and I've just missed it. Anyone?

EDIT: Correction, 1:18:xxx sorry

Is that "glitch" on every course for every single person here? It is for me, it seems to be the same four people.

I´ll say that is a good time, the WR is around sub 1:12. How long have you played? Go for the WR^^

About this global ranking glitches, ummmm........ Nintendo can never get things right, it is a shame.

Actually I correct myself, 1:18:xxx (typo sorry), about 6 or 7 finished runs. Discovered that I'm using the wrong shroomspot though and dunno which vehicle to use :|

So there are differences between 50hz and 60hz?
How do you figure 8th world and 2nd PAL?

Nice Moritz , I'm currently 7th world and 3rd PAL for GCN PB.

Gregor there are no difference between the PAL/NTSC. There are simply two ranking purely to see how u rank against people from your area, there is also a friend ranking as well to see how well you compare against them. :)

I was 1st for "Pal" (continental ranking), and 5th overall for Bowser's Castle when I went to sleep 8 hours ago. Let's see how quickly things change now.

It's fixed for me aswell, except... if I try to download continental or world record ghosts its comes up with the glitched records once more.

I think there is a glitch on every single course. Apparently you just drive two laps, then turn around and stop, and you can get these crazy times  :)  If this is really true then the whole online rankings are f***ed. The game might need recalled.

There are other glitches too.  Right now, my wi-fi races are in mirror mode, and I can't get out of it no matter what I do.  It's doing my head in. I hate mirror mode, and love wi-fi, so for wi-fi to be always mirror mode is a nightmare >:( >:( >:(   Is anyone else stuck in mirror mode like this? Or know how to stop it happening?

that miamoto guy or iwata said in an IGN interveiw that he didnt like the numberical rankings, because its only good for people in the top 100 atleast, and all the others are going to see how much they actually suck, so he thought by letting you see how many people are actually at your skill leval, rather than how far you are down on the ladder was basically a 'nicer' way of putting it.
Apparently no one wants to know they are that bad, but for all the people that want to see their ranking now cant... IMO nintnendo are a bunch of sissys by the way the interview sounded.
I didnt put it exactly how it was said, but it was somthing like that...

These are the two setences of the "Iwata Asks" that made the game worse:

---------------------------------------

Iwata: Why did you decide to add motorbikes?

Konno: To be honest, there may have been some influence from my own hobbies. I love BMX bicycles and snowboarding. When we made the game for the DS, we wanted to put in some elements of extreme sports12 so the players could do some rough riding, but it was difficult to achieve in a handheld game. That’s why we decided to make it happen for the Wii.

---------------------------------------

Konno: That’s why we decided to tackle something new like time trial rankings in addition to matches. But Iwata-san wondered what the point to being told you’re ranked 80, 000th would be, and we felt the same way.

Iwata: I remember that was brought up in one of the meetings during the Wi-Fi Connection’s development process. Something we needed to tackle with Wi-Fi matches and rankings, was how only a few strong players would be happy, among thousands of others who couldn’t become champions. You wanted to avoid that. This was discussed since the time we started development of the Wi-Fi Connection. So for Mario Kart Wii we tried something new.

Konno: So we put the rankings on a distribution map. The Miis would stack up depending on their times, and you could now see where you place in a glance.

Iwata: Instead of being told you’re ranked 83,431, it’s much more rewarding to be shown how many people around the world are playing at your level.

Konno: Also, you can easily see how you compare in global and national levels, and even with your Wii Friends. And a family of four can have fun as well. You can switch over to view the standings for those four members. For example, I can tell at one look the difference between me and my son’s times.
