Title: How U Play Post by Matt B on 07/08/04 at 16:08:09 I usually play an hour or two at a time, and I like to mix it up a bit too, so I generally don't play a course for more than half an hour at a time. Unfortunately, it's getting harder and harder to pr this way. I almost have to pick one or two courses and stick with it untill I pr, then turn all my attention to another course. So I'm curious what other ppl do, and if i'm really doomed to the monotonis future I suspect I have comming. |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by Paul R on 07/08/04 at 21:57:36 The past days i really feel like playing so it was something like 2/3 hours in a row on the same tracks (LC, PB). A lot of my prs are old, so it is not too difficult to beat them. But when i'm bored with the game i only play BC sometimes. And i often don't play for several days. |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by Prashant Bhoja on 07/08/04 at 22:05:47 Yeh I'm like Regeffe I only play what i can be bothered to play and if i get bored of it i just usually play LC after. And some time i dont play either for several days. I hardly play Special cup tracks but i play the other randomly. |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by JohnFive on 07/09/04 at 07:46:57 I stay on a single course for at least a week if not longer and mash it into my brain. I will warm up for about 20 minutes on some other courses but not try to pr, just try to break in the mt's |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by PT on 07/09/04 at 08:04:56 I stand on my head playing on friday nights , joke , i usually aim for a time and say to my self "im not going to bed until i get the time". |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by Stephen Regat on 07/09/04 at 14:58:34 what i usually do is play one course for about 15 minutes then switch. |

Yep, I'm kinda like that. I refuse to stop playing my session until I obtain a PR (doesn't matter whether it's by 0.001 or by a second or 2). When I get a PR I always watch a replay :D and the majority of the time tend to take a break. I don't want my ranking to drop, a steady climb to the top 50 is my aim (was around 75 a few weeks back IIRC) so I realistically want at least 1 or 2 major improvements every day. |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by Casey on 07/10/04 at 21:44:48 I usuallly pick the 3 or 4 times that are the worst ranked for me, and try to beat them, so that I don't lose touch with any particular course. My goal is to always have all of my times in the top 40. I haven't accomplished this yet but it's important to me to have no weak times that hurt my average finish a lot. |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by Ian on 07/11/04 at 05:03:58 I ended up playin to around 4.30AM and still didn't obtain a PR :'( (lucky I'm on holiday 'til October so there's always today to break some more records :D ) |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by PT on 07/11/04 at 05:21:34 lol i do the same as Ian im on night shifts at mkdd :P |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by Ian on 07/11/04 at 08:31:08 ;D Well I just posted 1 solid PR for me (MB flap) on the yahoo boards so that's a good start to the evening session. A new question, what course do you use (if you need to) to warm-up? I have around 5-10 mins on PB to get those fingers working and then I'm ready for all the courses (well, except RR :P) |
|
Title: Re: How U Play Post by John on 07/11/04 at 08:41:30 i normally spend bout 5 mins on bp, cause its so short and the mts are close together so helps me warm up on the mting |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by PT on 07/11/04 at 09:45:01 None , i press record and im away on the course im trying to pr on. |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by Cowman on 07/11/04 at 14:35:48 I'm with Ian and Tanney, I sometimes play tracks for hours at a time to try to get a new PR. I remember one time I played BC for four hours straight trying to get a new PR as I was really overdue, and I almost did several times but I always seemed to hit a fireball on the last lap, and after what was like my 185th time I gave up and smashed my controller so hard it almost broke. >:( ;) |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by Matt B on 07/11/04 at 15:39:38 Actually I usually play a round of gp to warm up (no all cup tour though....too long). And I suppose I do spend a lot of time on the same course sometimes when it's overdue. Hey, congrats on top 100 Cowman ;) |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by Cowman on 07/12/04 at 09:01:51 Thanks ;D |

That's what I do, usually Mirror Star Cup. I tend to focus on one track and when I get bored with it, I change. King008 |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by Vincent_Zee on 07/13/04 at 06:34:50 I play it when I am in the mood for it, and when I pr, I won't quit till I'm sattidfied enough, like two months ago, on LC, I hate the track, but there was a possibility for going sub 1.18 that day, so I tried and tried for like 2 hours. Normally its bout 1 hour, but since I hate this track, its not easy to get near my best splits (within halve a sec) and I didn't. Time I play depends. When I was fanatic, I was like Tanney, but still spended less time on it. I usually play like 2-3 hours ... when I play |
|
Title: Re: How U Play Post by PT on 07/13/04 at 09:51:15 Im not a fanatic , i just get it drummed into my head that i have to get that time that day , so i dont have to play it tomor or for a long time. btw i know u werent calling me a fanatic. ;) |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by PT on 07/13/04 at 10:03:01 Everyone has a worst time (of course) so many plp aim to improve them like i do , and ur right , Steel is on fire , but he is going on holiday for a week so he will have a lot of catching up. |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by Paul R on 07/13/04 at 10:28:56 I'm really pissed . I was really motivated to get Titan D ranked, that's quite high but i needed it to at least get hero B rank (of course i wouldn't be able to get Titan D on each track). so i started with LC. I got TD really quickly, expect flap. I switched to PB, it was harder but i managed to get it. Then i spent some times on BP but it completely shattered my motivation, damn track. as a result i bought a new game and i won't play mkdd for a while >:( |
|
Title: Re: How U Play Post by gingerscot on 07/13/04 at 10:39:36 BP always does that to you ::) you should of though bout it before & skipped it. Tho then's it's DDD >:( Dave |
|
Title: Re: How U Play Post by Paul R on 07/13/04 at 10:58:52 i didn't play BP since february. I tought it needed a boost. I indeed should have skip it. :P But DDD is a good track. I like it. |

Title: Re: How U Play Post by Ian on 07/13/04 at 11:09:44 I wouldn't say any of of us are "poor" (although there is the odd exception ;)) In the overall context of things we are pretty much all good MK: DD players, it's just some are better (some a lot better!) than others 8) They are the creme de la creme of the bunch ;D |
