PAL Activity:
PAL World Champion Karel van Duijvenboden continued his title defence strong this week to maintain his lead as the same against French Time Trial Champion Pierre L'Hoest. Karel went on a World Record rampage breaking a barrier on BC3 and surpassing it by some distance. GV1 lap breaking the 12"10 was also a strong achievment amongst some other World Records. Pierre also made significant cuts, once again taking CI1 lap World Record the next step further and a WR tie on Ghost Valley 2 then a 5-lap World Record Ghost Valley 3 with regular PRs of a very high standard.
#4 Florent Lecoanet made a tie with Pierre on Ghost Valley 2 lap with some insane platform jumping and immediate straightening up reaction time skills. As next level as it comes; oh and he also pushed his Koopa Beach 1 lap World Record down a little further.
#6 Sebastian Stellmacher, the SMK Champion of Germany drives some solid Non-NBT PRs including some good work on Ghost Valley 3.
#9 Christophe Paquin worked solely on Donut Plains 3 with a nice 5-lap and a strong middle lap fastlap to show some good potential with refining the strategy.
#20 Manuel Babjar continued on with improvements to his weaker tracks following reaching his 1'27"99 target on Rainbow Road. He has cut a few more points off, with further PRs he can reach more into the Top 20.
#27 David Bonne of France and #28 Bjorn Eklund of Sweden compete in their Non-NBT battle; this week shows David making good progress on CI1 and Bjorn shaving off some more time on MC3 to keep his stats up.
#31 Guillaume Leviach is also driving very well with some crazy Rainbow Road Non-NBT times, some of his strongest yet, and some other PRs to enhance his average finish.
#36 Angelo Di Vano, the Champion of Italy cuts his way through the average finish gap and is almost reaching Clark on the rankings with more karters not too far ahead. However he is under attack from French competitior, #37 Frederic Duarte-Leite who has some solid NBT PRs since his return to make a large average finish cut. The Champion of Spain is also not far ahead on the ranking as both karters make their approach.
#49 Alvin van Asselt sent in a Rainbow Road PR, sub 1'29" and maintains his ranking this week.
#57 Mario Brueser gains another rank with some stronger DP1 PRs and is close to passing Chabanis and Nouwen of France and Netherlands respectively.
#64 James Jones passes Stacy Needham for #8 in the UK and a lot of new PRs, highlighting the most his Non-NBT sub 1'02" PR for MC1. James also made a sub 1'30" on Rainbow Road and targets O'Neill and Hooper for more UK ranks after the Swiss and French rivals just ahead.
#89 Fabio Sacco drove 3 PRs but were some very nice cuts, these included Ghost Valley 1 and Donut Plains 3 and they place him at #89 in the World on PAL.
#123 Steve Bayliss has driven a nice PR on Ghost Valley 2 and maintains his position.
#133 Tanja Broennecke and #134 Ian Broom continue the battle this week with Ian cutting his VL2 fastlap nicely making a slightly larger cut overall; Tanja remains in the lead with a pair of GV2 PRs that she is pleased with.
#140 John Kennedy of Australia is fast moving up towards the Broennecke/Broom rivalry as he works on various weaker tracks including the GVs also and passes more karters including Finnish Champion, Nuutilainen.
#165 Daniel Caterbow worked only on Rainbow Road this week but made some very nice improvements putting him a few points short of Alex Hantson.
NTSC Activity:
#2 Guilherme Arantes, the Champion of Brazil is back in SMK this week with a World Record for Ghost Valley 1 5-lap.
#11 Soul Kobayashi the Champion of Japan set 12 very nice records cutting down some time and climbing the charts on each one. He has reached another rank and also closer to the Top 10.
#14 Tyler Worley worked a little further on Ghost Valley 3, shaving a few more points on his average finish.
#31 David Smith went for more of a significant cut this week and extended the lead from Harrington well and approaches Roodhorst.
#42 Nathan Stinson performed in a similar way to David in terms of strategy and cut some significant time off a few of the tracks; Nathan gained two positions on the NTSC World Rankings.
#59 Emeric Gosselin sets a small PR on Bowser Castle 1 lap.
#126 Jacob Goldfinger set slightly fewer PRs this week however the cuts were very good as Jacob continues to march through the 120-130 ranks.
#152 Nick Harvey has worked solidly on as many tracks as possible and is making excellent progress as he closes in on the Top 150 with several US rivals around his rank to battle his way through. Nick is evening out his times pretty well eliminating the weaker tracks and will hit a 1'01" on MC1 very soon.
#154 Ryan DeMaster drove a pair of KB1 PRs with a sub 1'00" 5-lap and defends his position following Nick Harvey's ascending.
#180 Chuck Foster maintains his rank this week following the entry of the two new members a bit further up the ranking. However he is well on the way to higher ranks as he hits 12 PRs learning some new strategies along the way to help him PR further on these courses and others. |

New World Records
Pierre L'Hoest made 5 World Records on PAL this week contributing to his rising power with Donut Plains 1 at 1'10"80 and a lap at 0'13"73; Mario Circuit 3 has been improved to 1'27"63 then Donut Plains 3 Pierre slightly edged out Karel with PAL World Records 1'16"39 and 0'14"78.
Karel van Duijvenboden drove Bowser Castle 3 PAL World Records of 1'30"14 and 0'17"63 following with a Ghost Valley 3 World Record tie at 1'14"88.
Florent Lecoanet made a lap World Record tie for Koopa Beach 1 of 0'09"27.
Movement
PAL Activity:
PAL World Champion Karel van Duijvenboden has had a litle less time this week to hold up against long time rival, French Champion Pierre L'Hoest. However the battle is still fierce with Pierre closing in only a few points away now for reaching the Top on PAL SMK Time Trial; next week could be the decider. Pierre went strong with 5 World Records while Karel hit some solid PRs and 3 World Records busted out.
#4 Florent Lecoanet hit more strong records this week with a WR tie on KB1 fastlap. He has cut a bit more average finish with his result.
#8 Armin Huber, the former Champion of Germany made a surprise return this week with some cuts to his VL1 lap time.
#9 Christophe Paquin of France made a few PRs and maintained his position this week.
#13 Pierre Coste continued to work on NBT PRs with his main highlight, breaking the 59 second barrier on Mario Circuit 1, excellent time Pierre.
#15 Geoffrey Label hit some solid PRs including his strong sub 50 sec KB1 time and a few others, passing Michael Jongerius in the process and closing in on Seb.
#27 David Bonne drove 3 small on-NBT PRs, working within CI1 and RR to maintain his rank.
#31 Guillaume Leviach also followed Bonne with further Non-NBT cuts greatly lowering his average finish further to former Paris Champion, Archibald Lefevre.
#36 Angelo Di Vano, the Champion of Italy is further taking down his rivals, both active and inactive as he is gaining on active Leviach above and has just passed the Norwegian and Australian champions with his records this week.
#40 Frederic Duarte-Leite of France made a super return to SMK, a legendary karter from a few years back, remember from my University days of updating. Frederic comes with some new Non-NBT PRs also passing Australian Champion Scott and gaining on karters above at the Top 40 PAL.
#49 Alvin van Asselt has gained a few positions this week with some PRs and is in the middle of a battle with the Belgian Champions.
#58 Mario Brueser of Germany made a bunch of further times since his return to SMK last week and is picking up the pace well within the Top 60; Geoffrey Ewbank is next up on the list to reach.
#70James Jones continued to lower the average finish gap vs rivals and is now a small point short of Brangeon and not far behind more karters ahead after PRs across each cup to improve his overall stats.
#93 Fabio Sacco of Italy makes some more improvements this time working on some Mushroom Cup and Special cup times; he is within easy reach of some very close points with karters above so he can pass them next week and move into the Top 90.
#123 Steve Bayliss drove a great set of new times working on key weaker tracks to lower his average finish down. He still has plenty potential and will rise to challenge more karters ahead as he lands at #21 in UK.
#133 Tanja Broennecke has something great to celebrate; with a set of fast records that she hit this week, she has passed Sue Cladingboel to become the new Women's World Champion of Super Mario Kart on PAL Time Trial! Excellent efforts and lots of potential to reach the Top 100 with the pace of improvement. However it didn't stop there as a sudden return from a rival in the UK, #134 Ian Broom provided a list of PRs and an equally good cut this week, so a battle may commence in the next week to see who will be in the lead.
#148 John Kennedy of Australia continues his improvements strong during this week with a cut into the Top 150. His next rivals are all pretty cose ranked so with the pace kept up he can reach the Top 140 or further in the next week.
#164 Alex Hantson of Switzerland is gaining more ranks this week with a decent cut to his times after passing some German and French rivals. He is on the way to Lola's rank on his next PRs.
NTSC Activity:
#4 Alencar Faria is continuing his pace from last week cutting down his weaker times and is making it towards #3. In the next few weeks he could be in range to attack the position.
#10 Florent Lecoanet of France had a few outstanding PRs to send on NTSC and has gained some average finish with these.
#14 Tyler Worley has extended a lead from White to maintain his #2 position in USA after some good cuts to his Ghost Valley 3 PRs.
#31 David Smith returned with a quick PR for Donut Plains 2 5-lap.
#36 Karl Ludwigsen also dropped by this week after a short break and has a few NBT Mario Circuit 1 PRs to strengthen his position. He has potential to gain ranks to the higher 30s and rival David, we will see more PRs soon.
#44 Nathan Stinson continues to drive strong records this week and is passing some more of the legendary USA Team karters from the start of the Millenium; Kelly Malo and Jason Whalls.
#129 Jacob Goldfinger did a run through of near enough all of his times with a mass improvement to his records this week. He has climbed to within the Top 130 on NTSC.
#161 Nick Harvey continues his PRs since joining and is following in the footsteps of other active US karters with some great times and is well on the way to the Top 150.
#180 Chuck Foster, not much further down the list from Harvey is also setting solid PRs after announcing a return this week. So far he has set some PRs on each cup, the majority on Flower cup with a lot of room for improvement to gain higher ranks soon. |
Its almost Unreal...

PAL Activity:
PAL World Champion Karel van Duijvenboden still remains in a close battle vs French Time Trial Champion Pierre L'Hoest. Karel is taking back some World Records on the DP tracks and Pierre went for a great cut with a slightly new strat on MC2 5-lap to cut a few seconds off his time and edge out Karel on the Totals stats.
