| New Members Welcome to... Bob Graat, Netherlands (PAL 272nd, Netherlands 37th, Apprentice A) Sergio Carvalho, Brazil (NTSC 223rd, Brazil 18th, Warrior E) Alex Vandegrift, USA (NTSC 234th, USA 102nd, Contender A) Alfredo Ramirez, Chile (NTSC 273rd, Chile 3rd, Contender F) Ricardo Ramirez, Chile (NTSC 284th, Chile 4th, Novice B) New World Records No new World Records this week... Movement PAL Activity: #4 Matthias Boucher set 3 PRs with a very fast VL1 time followed by a pair of records for MC4 and DP3 which have helped him to pass retired Cetin for 4th place in the World on PAL Time Trials. #10 Manuel Babjar had Koopa Beach 2 in his mind to keep the activity going and reached some nice NBT times with plenty of potential even for a sub 56 second course time. #30 Florian Chollet passed 3 legendary karters including Swiss Time Trial Champion, Raphael Braun. He has reached a good goal over Christmas landing in the Top 30 following some KB1 and VL1 work. #132 Lars Volkers of the Netherlands made a surprise return to SMK recently and has prepared some new times for Mario Circuit 1 and 2, then a pair on Choco Island 1 with a cut on VL1 fastlap subbing the 12 second barrier. #141 Arno van den Barselaar of the Netherlands made more progress on Mario Circuit 4 this week, cutting another average finish point down with his efforts. #199 Emily van den Barselaar breaks further into the Top 200 following up also on Mario Circuit 4, 3 seconds behind Arno on the course time. #225 Gary Thompson of Scotland, UK has driven a lot of new PRs since his first time submisson. He has made a strong cut to his average finish and opened up a lot more potential. He should fly well into the Top 200 in the World on PAL when he continues to improve his times. NTSC Activity: NTSC Time Trial World Champion Karel van Duijvenboden worked on his weaker MC3 NBT times on NTSC as he works out the best strategies available. His progress is moving along well with a course time heading towards the 1'25" barrier and a strong lap. #4 Guillaume Leviach went on a great assault the last few weeks to make a large cut and reach beyond the 5th place rank in the World for NTSC Time Trials. This even included taking 2nd place in the French NTSC Time Trial ranking; he had all round strong times including a satisfying 47 second VL2 ice dance. Shame that we cant drive so fast in the snowy European weather lately! #15 Ha Nyan, the Time Trial Champion of Tokyo continued to work on Ghost Valley 1 and makes further progress this week including a 4th place time for the 5-lap. #21 Raul Henrique is beginning to work on some other tracks that are already cutting off bigger average finish points. These included tracks on Flower and Star Cup. With further cuts on these he can advance well into the Top 20 of NTSC Time Trials. Former USA/World Time Trial Champion Jamie White is just ahead. #23 Simon Laflamme, the Non-NBT Specialist of Canada made a nice return to a favourite track; Bowser Castle 2. A tight record run with Non-NBT strategy was produced this week and he defends his rank. #54 Chris Morton is working on closing the gap to Oklahoma State Champion Nathan Stinson. He drove 6 new PRs across DP1, CI2 and GV3. #158 Jose Karica, the Champion of Panama has made a lot of action last week; he went through pretty much every course and lap time in an effort to lower them a significant amount, resulting in a large chop to his average finish and gaining over 40 or so ranks. His potential now is definitely heading towards the Top 100 which should be his next goal to work towards. #220 Joe Sebeny of USA returns to SMK this week also with 4 PRs on Mario Circuit 1 and Ghost Valley 2 resulting in a climb of a few more ranks. We look forward to see more PRs from Joe soon. |
