| 10th Birthday for SMK Time Trials Site 10 years ago I uploaded some of the first pages for the SMK site... How time has flown by! We started off small and it has grown so much from manual updates to more functional databases that we are using today. I would never have expected to have a community so great, joining several countries around the world, including great meets and much more to look forward to for the future! Except for some holiday weeks years ago or rare occasions, I think I have managed to keep weekly updates all this time. But it has also been thanks to all of you for your input, ideas and support through the years; thank you to all. Unfortunately I don't have a birthday cake here to celebrate, but we already did some good celebrations (early) at the CDE in August, and I'm sure you can all celebrate in your own ways on this day. So keep having fun, sending your PRs in and recruiting more players for the future and we will enjoy many many more years in our great community. Best Wishes, Sami Cetin New World Records Oliver Segarra Gonzalez took back the World Records of Bowser Castle 1 NTSC with 1'25"57 and 0'16"93. Chris Balch drove a new World Record on NTSC for Koopa Beach 2 0'53"40. Pierre L'Hoest hit an NTSC World Record with NBT on Ghost Valley 3 1'12"79. Movement PAL Activity: #3 Florent Lecoanet drove a pair of nice PRs for BC1 this week, and defends his rank well. #8 Angelo Di Vano, the Champion of Italy made 4 PRs with some great work for CI1 and BC3 in particular. #9 Guillaume Leviach also had a strong week with a nice set of PRs, reaching some targets he was after including CI1 lap. #10 Manuel Babjar continued his work on Bowser Castle 1 succeeding in a further lap PR cut. #24 Ben Allen of Team UK is continuing to take down his records on several tracks with great new marks made as he lands in the Top 25 of PAL. An interesting target is on the next large gap ahead as he continues his quest for UK #2. #98 Steve Bayliss continued with a few more PRs this week, namely on GV1 where he made some decent attempts including a platform jump. #203 Shane Quinlan, the Champion of Ireland has been improving some of his PRs already since joining the site, claiming a few more records from Cairns. He is also fast approaching the Top 200 in the World with a lot of potential to improve his records. NTSC Activity: #2 Guilherme Arantes took the KB2 World Record early this week but it was later taken by a rival. #3 Pierre L'Hoest has done a very strong attack on NTSC this week pushing out his full potential with several PRs on many tracks, also succeeding in an NTSC World Record. As a result he has passed many rival karters. #6 Chris Balch, Canada's Champion had a great week with a nice World Record on Koopa Beach 2, also cutting some average finish. #7 Oliver Segarra Gonzalez worked on his current favourite, Bowser Castle 1, succeeding in a pair of strong World Records there to fight back vs Karel. #10 Anderson Barbosa dos Santos returned to SMK this week with 4 new PRs and makes a small average finish cut, maintaining his position. #160 Kevin McAteer made the largest of climbs with his rivals in the USA team. He has once again climbed the ladder brilliantly cutting PRs on most of the tracks. #165 Eric Tapani gained 10 ranks in the past week, and is not too far behind Kevin with a lot of new records also with his Non-NBT getting sharper from the previous weeks. #174 Nick Fraher made a slightly broader cut than Eric but is still on the chase with his great set of new PRs, mostly with cuts to his Special Cup times which are looking more solid. There is still a lot of room to improve and he will pose a good challenge for his two rivals in the next weeks. |
