Karel van Duijvenboden made a new fastlap World Record on Choco Island 1 lap PAL with 0'10"62.
Movement
PAL Activity:
PAL Time Trial World Champion Karel van Duijvenboden reaches his great new World Record on Choco Island 1 fastlap on PAL; notably one of the toughest laps to pull off a tight NBT run on.
#34 David Bonne cut some more time off from his Koopa Beach 2 5-lap and is currently in the lower 1'02"s there.
#48 Alexandre Burel made several NBT PRs on the run up to the CDM and a few extra PRs during the time there. One great result was his first sub 1'00" time which was achieved on Koopa Beach 1; this helps him to pass Belgium's 2nd fastest Time Trial karter.
#52 Aron Langerak of Team NL put in a great performance at the CDM and his Time Trials are also getting much stronger with his latest wave of new times (both Non-NBT and NBT). He has now flown up into 5th place in Netherlands and is almost at the Top 50 of PAL Time Trials.
#64 Christian Wild of Germany continues his strong Non-NBT times with new times on the DP's and VL's, along with a further cut to his Ghost Valley 3 PR, resulting in a decent average finish chop and some karters on the PAL ladder passed.
#87 Euan Johnston has a close collection of karters just ahead on the ranking as he submits his latest PR; a sub 1'02" MC1 Non-NBT which is also the first in Scotland to break the barrier. With further sharp times on other tracks he can pass more karters including the next UK rank and shirt towards the Top 80 in PAL.
#100 Daniel Pabst of Germany is defending his Top 100 place well with some of his latest times. He has cut his way through the large average finish gap to be placed nearer the karters just ahead on the ranking.
#156 Alencar Faria of Brazil is starting to set some new PRs on PAL since joining the ranking there. So far he is working on the Mushroom Cup tracks with very good results so far, but as we can agree a lot of potential left. He should reach the Top 100 with ease once the other courses are covered with improvements.
#159 David Moll of the UK is making a very nice advancement on the rankings this week with 18 new PRs. A lot of effort went into the Donut Plains courses just before the update with very nice results. David reaches 27th in the UK on Time Trials this week.
#192 Antoine Dumont of France who recently joined us on SMK Time Trials following a nice entry at the CDM has returned again this week to report a list of faster records. The result has pushed him up to the Top 200 of PAL Time Trials; we look forward to see more PRs from him.
#237 John Western is getting to grips with Bowser and D.K.Jr more and is going through the transition on some more of the harder courses. A nice barrier was reached with a sub 1'03" at Mario Circuit 1 and a UK rank of 42nd place overall.
NTSC Activity:
#103 Justin Kapple of USA held the NTSC fort up this week on his return to SMK Time Trials. He made two PRs on DP2 this week that are fairly solid with potential for a sub 1'30" soon. Justin is closing the gap to Matt Ellis and the Top 100 is definitely on the cards as he continues to PR. |

Super Mario Kart World Championship 2010 success
As it is late in the evening, just want to say a big thank you to Guillaume and Claire Leviach for hosting a wonderful championship this year, and also to many others for providing items and helping in every way to make it the best World Championship yet.
Many stories and news will appear on the forum soon so do check by there for photos. Congrats to Florent Lecoanet for retaining the overall title for another year after a close 'Rocky I' movie style fight on the 150cc GP final vs Sami Cetin. Just as a quick snapshot, the overall winners and top 3 medallists for each mode were as follows:
Overall: 1st: Florent Lecoanet 2nd: Sami Cetin 3rd: Pierre L'Hoest
Time Trial One Tries: 1st: Florent Lecoanet 2nd: Karel van Duijvenboden 3rd: Pierre L'Hoest
Match Race: 1st: Sami Cetin 2nd: Florent Lecoanet 3rd: Harold Christensen
Battle Mode: 1st: Drew Blumfield 2nd: Geoffrey Label 3rd: Florent Lecoanet
GP 150cc: 1st: Florent Lecoanet 2nd: Sami Cetin 3rd: Pierre L'Hoest
Videos will hopefully be available of the finals in the near future, and I have to say they were much more exciting than previous years! P.S Special thanks also to Drew for providing non stop comedy (and pizzas) during the whole event
Hope to see you all again next year!
Next week update one day later
Just a quick note, due to travel, next week's update will take place one day later on Monday 30th August. Following that, updates will resume on Sundays as normal. Keep the PRs coming in as normal, and they will be updated accordingly.

PAL Activity:
PAL Time Trial World Champion Karel van Duijvenboden hit a nice PR on very tough Choco Island 1 fastlap at the CDM this week, very close to the WR.
#69 Christian Wild made a nice climb passing Freek along the way with 5 new PRs and some sharp Non-NBT.
#100 Daniel Pabst maintains his rank at the Top 100 this week with a pair of new times at DP1, almost breaking the 1'20" barrier.
#174 David Moll is really picking up the pace with a strong batch of new times, including his newly acquired 1'02" level on Mario Circuit 1 which is being chipped away at already, and many other times that are gaining him points as his UK rank reaches 29th.
#240 John Western is now at 44th in the UK also with a huge list of new times. He is pushing a few more with D.K.Jr and Bowser as he learns the driving techniques and passes more karters.
NTSC Activity:
#33 Akita Sounori of Japan returned this week with a pair of solid NBT records on Mario Circuit 3 and also a nice Mario Circuit 2 record that helped him to pass Goto for 5th place in Japan.
#75 Yukiko Takada gained a few more ranks this week with another pair of records for Koopa Beach 1, where there is a lot of potential once water sliding techniques are learned.
#153 Hunter Koch continued to fight hard on 7 of his weaker boards and cut more than -15 average finish points this week. As per Yukiko there is a lot of potential on the water courses so these may be a good place to target in order to close the gap to the top 100.
#238 Jacob McMillin returned to the Time Trials this week and hopes to set some more PRs soon; so far he has driven some nice PRs for MC1 and BC1 which gained him 6 ranks on the NTSC World Ranking. |

PAL Activity:
#3 Sami Cetin, the UK Champion of SMK made a strong comeback this week after a rival has been hitting the ranks hard close by. A great training session for the CDM with many of his weaker times were crushed including some extreme edge of the road driving on MC3 fastlap and consistency on MC4. He has now regained his 3rd place position in the World on PAL Time Trials.
#6 Guillaume Leviach had a fantastic week also with a very large average finish cut and several PRs on his CDM training. A lot of weaker times were improved upon and he has shifted closer to Boucher for the next Time Trial Rank in France soon!
#19 Geoffrey Label set 3 more PRs this week including a nice flatboost lap for Choco Island 1 then a few cuts on BC1 and BC2 laps. He has passed Michael Jongerius for another rank on Time Trial.
#34 David Bonne continues to defend his current rank and does so with another chop to his Koopa Beach 2 lap Non-NBT.
#70 Christian Wild had a grand return to SMK and stronger with 8 new PRs including some of the tougher tracks and those with tricky jumps. His average finish cut brought him to the Top 70 and a gain over rival Fellberg for 8th in Germany.
#100 Daniel Pabst of Germany landed squarely on the rank he was after... although he is likely to push into the 90s with his next targets. A new time for Bowser Castle 2 course time did the job to skip ahead of Mrgic for 11th in Germany and Non-NBT specialist, Moncrieff-Hill of Australia.
#150 Elie Blatz of the Plug and Play Team in France has also been preparing well for the tournament this week with 4 new PRs incluidng a very nice Rainbow Road 5-lap and passes 3 karters including Austrian Champion, Peter Elsaesser.
#198 David Moll of Team UK has really been picking up the pace this week with a huge list of new times on most of the tracks and large cuts also. His potential is increasing by far as he lands within the Top 200 and is sharpening up the hop jumping technique really well with each new PR. David climbs up to 34th on the UK ranking this week.
#246 John Western of the UK also made a very nice return to SMK this week and improving his general times on various tracks. Some of the stronger courses are showing good improvement now which opens up more potential on the rest. John has raised his UK rank to 45th.
NTSC Activity:
#12 Ha Nyan of Japan hit a pair of very nice Mario Circuit 1 PRs, almost breaking into the 56 second level with his Japanese record so far. We are sure we will see him break the barrier soon at MC1.
#48 Cole Gilbert of Canada has improved on some key courses this week with large average finish cuts as a result from 11 new times. He has broken into the Top 50 of NTSC after passing Colombia's Champion and is close to reaching Sabbagh.
#52 Chris Morton returns to USA this week and could hopefully provide some competition for rival Cole just ahead. So far Chris presents a new cut for Vanilla Lake 2 lap and defends his current rank.
#77 Yukiko Takada managed to pass Nelson this week with a pair of new times on Koopa Beach 1. With using more water slides, Yukiko can lower this time further and below 55 seconds.
#121 Daniel Newrell Strusser has passed 21 karters in the past week with improved times on many weaker courses. He has plenty of potential on other water and ice tracks when he utilises the faster strategies and also the Ghost Valley tracks. The Top 100 will be his before long when he unleashes his driving potential.
#155 Ryan Trovillion made a nice cut of 12 new PRs including more consistent Non-NBT to go sub 1'20" on Donut Plains 1 and some of the tougher Mario Circuit tracks.

Guillaume Leviach set a new World Record for PAL Koopa Beach 2 lap 0'10"43.
Michael Fried hit the NTSC trick World Record on Ghost Valley 3 trick lap at 0'02"06.
Movement
PAL Activity:
#6 Guillaume Leviach chopped a nice amount off his average finish with a pair of solid Vanilla Lake 1 times following good use of improved strategy and finally securing the lap World Record on Koopa Beach 2.
#20 Geoffrey Label also continued some PRs this week doing a similar job on the average finish with a few new times on BC2 lap and DP3 lap and maintains his overall rank.
#27 Florian Chollet finally reached his target of a sub minute NBT time on Mario Circuit 1, but a couple of very nice times including barrier breaks at Vanilla Lake 1 where the fastlap went below 10 seconds.
#34 David Bonne cut some more time off from his Koopa Beach 2 5-lap and is currently in the lower 1'02"s there.
#69 Freek van der Steen drove his latest PR on Bowser Castle 3 which was a 1'35" time, still with potential and perhaps he will return to it in future.
#88 Samuel Gomez is beginning to catch again towards rival Euan Johnston with a pair of consistently driven Rainbow Road PRs.
#102 Daniel Pabst of Germany has gained a couple of more ranks this week with PRs on Mario Circuit 2 and the test of endurance of Bowser Castle 2. He is working on the bumper jumping well there so a sub 1'50" course time will happen soon.
#125 Nicola Torre has driven another very strong improvement this week focusing on 7 of the weaker courses to improve the average finish stats by some margin. With continued pace we could see Torre close in on Fabio Sacco for Italy's 2nd place.
#153 Elie Blatz has been hard at work preparing for the next World Championships with a Time Trial return just in time with 9 new PRs not too far from Torre's level. Elie gained some more ranks and is close to the Austrian Champion's rank.
#174 Gary Thompson, of Scotland, UK set 15 new PRs to improve his stats on particular tracks that he could improve by a margin and improved well over 10 ranks on the PAL World Ranking. He is now less than 50 ranks to reach the Scotland 2nd and 3rd fastest, and there are many other rivals in between, keep up the great PRs!
NTSC Activity:
#17 Tyler Worley, the USA #2 Time Trialer has made an interesting return this week with 3 PRs and is starting to chip his way towards the next rank. We look frward to see more PRs and if perhaps he could close the gap to Bernier.
#24 Michael Fried decided to take the battle to Ghost Valley 3 fastlap on the trick times and succeeded in a World Record there. Will he try for some 5-lap WRs next?
#55 Cole Gilbert of Canada gained a rank this week with twin PRs for Bowser Castle 3 course time and a pair of Vanilla Lake 2 times.
#79 Yukiko Takada worked on more of the Donut Plains tracks with new PRs on all 6 of the boards as her overall level improves there. Yukiko is now closer to a few ranks above.
#142 Daniel Newrell Strusser has been very active this week, setting targets for his tougher tracks such as BC3 and reaching good marks, then improving some overall tracks to gain a margin on the ranks. Lastly he has pushed MC1 down to the 1'00"s and landed at USA overall rank 60th. Many more large cuts are likely to happen soon.
#161 Christophe Charignon improves a lap PR for Bowser Castle 1 and defends his rank from some approaching rivals.
#163 Ryan Trovillion and his latest PR list is working wonders as he cuts a large amount off his average finish score through volume of PRs and is in close competition with Charignon. Most notable efforts go to his GV3 PRs where he has succeeded in 3/5 platform jumps.
#175 Hunter Koch made a nice return to SMK this week after some time of inactivity. He has jumped back into the action with just 5 PRs so far, and they have produced good results on the ranking with a number of players passed. |

Michael Fried went for the next NTSC trick World Record; Ghost Valley 2 trick lap at 0'01"95.
Movement
PAL Activity:
PAL Time Trial World Champion Karel van Duijvenboden made a little return this week to defend his title spot after some sudden average finish losses; an old non-favourite course Koopa Beach 1 was selected and a very nice lap produced, close to the WR.
#5 Sami Cetin, the UK Time Trial Champion made a tiny PR during some testing on his weaker CI2 course.
#6 Guillaume Leviach has finally passed his old rival Angelo Di Vano after some great efforts on Koopa Beach 1 with a nice lap followed by a great sub 49 second course time.
#20 Geoffrey Label of France, and PAL Battle Mode Champion was a nice surprise return to Time Trial this week during a mini kart meet and hit a couple of times including some IB work on Mario Circuit 2 lap, and a sharp VL2 lap to reach the Top 20 again and 9th place in France for Time Trials.
#27 Florian Chollet was oh-so-close to the famous sub 1'00"00 Mario Circuit 1 time, so the next PR there will certainly back. It is likely he will hit this before the CDM as a nice goal; he made a nice fastlap alongside it also and maintains his rank.
#34 David Bonne continues to shave down Koopa Beach 2 a little more and also defends his current rank at this time.
#69 Freek van der Steen of Netherlands extends his lead a bit from O'Neill with PRs on MC2, CI1 and BC3 for a change to lower a few weaker times. His BC3 following some imperfections in his current PR has a lot of potential and this can benefit him on average finish when he next PRs.
#87 Euan Johnston, the Time Trial Champion of Scotland has passed current rival Samuel Gomez with 7 new PRs including a couple of more Scotland records, the Rainbow Road being a tie. He may be able to go sub 1'30" there soon and break a few more barriers on other courses. Euan has now reached 11th in the UK and the Top 10 is just ahead.
#104 Daniel Pabst of Germany is chipping away some more to get ever closer to the Top 100 with some PRs on the longer tougher courses of Bowser Castle 3 and Mario Circuit 4.
#136 Nicola Torre is certainly the karter of the hour with an immense improvement on his previous times. While Leviach is passing Angelo on the ranking it appears that now-turned Manager, Angelo is passing on his expertise to Team Italy Legend, Nicola Torre! His Non-NBT driving has greatly sharpened up with tighter work on the MCs, GVs and RR. A few watery tracks have also had a nice chop including consistency on the 5-laps!
#188 Gary Thompson, of Scotland, UK made a return also to SMK this week with a solid bunch of new times spread across the courses; 18 new PRs in all. A very nice average finish cut was the result and a climb to #32 in the UK.
#233 Davd Moll has continued his PR streak from the previous week with constant improvements as he refines his driving techniques with D.K.Jr. He even managed his first Longboost experience on Mario Circuit 2, first for a bit of fun but then with very good results. Combining all of his other PRs he passed around 20 karters so far and is now in the Top 40 of the UK Time Trialers with heaps of potential and and definitely land in the Top 200 very soon.
#244 Daniel Sampson of Australia also returned to SMK this week with 4 new PRs that included a great Bowser driven fastlap on Rainbow Road that helped him to gain a rank.
NTSC Activity:
#12 Ha Nyan of Japan sets a few nice PRs for Donut Plains 1 and Mario Circuit 2, cutting a good amount off his average finish score. With continued PRs at this level he can reach nearer to Matthias Mann and Soul Kobayashi's ranks.
#24 Michael Fried set his sights on Ghost Valley 2 for a new fastlap trick World Record there. According to the forum, Ghost Valley 3 could be one he tries to hit next. It would be interesting to see if Michael can take a few more of the 5-lap WRs there too.
#45 Nicholas Harvey returned from his retirement a little early but for great reason, some new PRs! Mario Circuit 2 and Koopa Beach 1 laps looked like good options for some quick improvements and he defends his current rank.
#79 Yukiko Takada gains a couple of more ranks this week with new PRs for Choco Island 1 and Ghost Valley 3. She has also reached 10th in Japan after landing just ahead of Takahiro.
#155 Daniel Strusser also made his return today after reviving Bowser and some Time Trials and setting a first lot of new times, with hopefully many more to follow. Some nice Non-NBT marks were his including a 1'00" Mario Circuit 1. The potential is there for a Top 100 place in the near future as he continues to set new PRs.
#187 Ryan Trovillion gained 7 more ranks since last week with 19 new PRs spread across the cups. He managed to land ahead of MC1 specialist Joel Marceau and still has good pace to follow Daniel above.
#290 Zack Weber started driving some more good times this week with 8 new records mostly focusing on Mushroom Cup times before moving to a few more challenging corners of GV2 and MC3. This helped him pass some more karters just within the Top 300. |

#27 Florian Chollet is continuing to chip away at the average finish gap to McCarthy with another KB2 PR on the lap following the activity of Leviach, and a pair of MC1 NBT times.
#34 David Bonne, a Non-NBT specialist in France made a nice return to SMK this week with some new PRs on the Koopa Beach courses (the lovely KB1) and also Mario Circuit 3 where he is reaching the 1'33"00 barrier soon. Swiss Time Trial and Match Race Champion, Braun is just ahead.
#43 Mickael Smolen made his fair share of NBT PRs this week, with MC4 a prime target as he goes sub 1'40" there and increases his average finish attack a bit more.
#49 Alexandre Burel of France went to improve his Donut Plains 3 which still holds a lot of potential.
#89 Samuel Gomez gains another rank over a former Non-NBT specialist of the UK from 90s, Russell Shaw with great new times on BC2, MC4 and RR. However, a powerful rival is fast approaching the Top 90...
#91 Euan Johnston, the Time Trial Champion of Scotland now holds 36 out of 40 Scotland Records and his 3 new PRs on Mario Circuit 4 and Donut Plains 3 this week gained him another rank, to place him in competition with Gomez, and also a few more target UK players.
#105 Daniel Pabst of Germany is fighting his way through the tough road to the Top 100 but his journey is going very well; with twin PRs on Choco Island 2 he is closing that gap faster every time.
#255 Davd Moll of the UK also made his return following solid MK64 activity and has driven 4 new PRs, mainly on the Bowser Castle tracks as he gets used to the feel of SMK. His potential is great as he already passes several karters including Western and Grier to reach 46th in the UK.
NTSC Activity:
#24 Michael Fried decided to continue his good result from last time and hit new trick World Record times for a few more tracks on NTSC; Donut Plains 1 lap and Koopa Beach 2 lap.
#81 Yukiko Takada of Japan makes some good PRs for GV2, DP2 and MC3 and gains another 4 or 5 ranks. The Non-NBT is getting sharper with 1'03"00 and 1'30"00 barriers on GV2 and DP2 reachable soon.
#100 Jacob Goldfinger was another surprise comeback this week and what a way to do that than to pull back to the Top 100 of NTSC! He made quite a few new times and a decent cut to pass a few players.
#161 Christophe Charignon was able to have some more NTSC SMK time recently and pushed out a strong list of times with a larger average finish cut, landing a few ranks short of Panama Champion Jose Karica.
#194 Ryan Trovillion has really fought well against his rivals this week with 16 new PRs and a large average finish cut, including a movement into the Top 200 of NTSC.
#195 Alex Vandegrift set fewer PRs than rival Ryan just ahead but still earned a good cut and gained a couple of ranks. Both karters have great potential and we look forward to see a continued rivalry there. |

#56 Cole Gilbert of Canada increased his volume of PRs this week and thus resulting in a nice average finish improvement and shift into the Top 60 of NTSC Time Trials. Now 9th in Canada he will have the edge and pace to go well into the Top 50 as he perfects some more Non-NBT driving for sharpness.

#100 Samuel Gomez of France decided on a fun return to NTSC this week and the results were great with PRs for each cup and a resulting cut to the Top 100 on NTSC Time Trials.
#147 Chuck Foster drives a pair of Ghost Valley 1 times with nice platform jumping attempts and defends his overall rank.
#189 Christophe Charignon had a return to SMK NTSC this week which was good fun as it sparked off some competition for the ranks below. His immense cut so far placed him well under the Top 200.

#234 Nick Meade is really putting together some strong driving following learning techniques with D.K.Jr and hitting 20 new PRs. Word has it that Sebeny is also a rival to Meade before, so perhaps we will see a nice competition from them both as they close the gap to the others in front around the Top 200. |

PAL Activity:
#5 Sami Cetin achieved a couple of more UK Record improvements on Mario Circuit 4 this week at a Retro Gaming event during some demos. The 5-lap of which was done by surprise while in conversation to one of the spectators.
#75 Christian Wild was certainly going wild this week with a lot of new times across nearly all the boards. He managed to break the legendary PAL benchmark on MC1 by reaching the 1'01"s. His GV2 driving, mainly the fastlap is looking sharp aswell, amongst many other great cuts on the tougher tracks.
#90 Samuel Gomez must be out celebrating this evening with a certain result! He also had time for a quick PR on SMK's longest track, Bowser Castle 2 and maintains his rank.
#110 Daniel Pabst of Germany passes a couple of karters this week including rival Alexander Walz to reach 12th in Germany. This was achieved with good results on VL1 (with more potential on the course time there), and Rainbow Road.
#157 Timur Ahmad was the other very active karter in Germany this week by making a strong climb on some key MC and GV courses. His achievements lifted him up to 18th place in Germany and just ahead of the PAL Women's World Time Trial Champion, Broennecke.
