10 July 2010: "The Birth of a New Champion"
Movement

What was the greatest reign in MKDS history is simply now just history. After years of hard work and the past few weeks of really cranking out times, #1 Abel Marques made the final push in order to pass over #2 Thomas Bolton and become the site champion! The astonishing pass was thanks to a 0.6563 AF cut, that brought him about 0.1 AF ahead of Thomas, and nearly gave him a sub 3.0 AF overall. He really brought his A-game this week putting together fifteen PRs, which were (yes, I will name every single one because they are THAT important) F8C 1'13"222 Titan A + 24"056 Myth E, LM 3lap 1'32"261 Myth B, WP flap 39"039 Myth D, TTC 3lap 1'31"523 Myth B, PG 3lap 1'26"378 Myth D, BC 3lap 1'52"997 Myth D, RR flap 35"101 Myth E, RMMF 3lap 1'03"301 Titan A, RBP 42"699 Myth D, RKB2 flap 12"794 Myth D, RCM flap 34"923 Myth B, RBB 1'44"510 + 34"488 Myth A's, and RSG 3lap 1"01"008 Myth C... phew. Along the way, he also made a massive ARR cut to become Myth C overall.

Etch already covered a lot of the history, so just some more minor details from this week. Abel still trails Thomas and/or David in every other PRB category, but I'm sure he doesn't mind that. Thomas still has those horrid RR times though, and could cut over a full AF point if he hits top times there, so Abel should be wary. That basically covers the PRB side for now. Some of this did translate over to Non-PRB as well, whether Abel likes it or not. He's already PRB champion so moving up the Non-PRB ranks couldn't hurt too much. All the PRs he hit that were also Non-PRB were God ranked, and resulted in a 0.3125 AF cut that brought his AF sub 10.0. A run to the top three and beyond is possible for Abel here, but for now, we shall just celebrate his PRB Championship!

Let us not forget the others who were active this week however. There was really only two other good cut inside the top 100, the first belonging to PRB #17 Sawara. He hit three nice PRs, which were DKP flap 34"983 God and KB2 PRB 40"895 + 12"966 Titan A's. This resulted in a 0.3438 AF cut, and solidified his position as he moves closer to a top fifteen spot. The other big cutter was #21 Simon Levy on the Non-PRB side, making an AF cut of 0.5781 to close the gap between himself and #20 Marshall LeVett to less than a point. His cuts were the efforts of some good PRs, which included WS 1'56"899 Myth C + 37"848 God and RDP1 56"479 Myth E + 17"889 Myth C. The RDP1 times are two French records for him, increasing his tally to 13 overall. #39 Stefan Mayr was also active with the minimum AF cut, coming from a BC flap of 38"219 Titan D.

Movement outside the top 100 included #113 Alex Frasca -1.1720, #195 Alex Malone -4.1560, #214 Tom Mannings -2.1570 (Expert E to Expert D) and #315 Christophe Charignon -0.7660.

New Records

There were no new records this week.

Awards

He became site champion in stylish fashion. I don't really need to say anything else. Abel Marques wins the POW for the first week of July!
