![]() Yes my mkds brethren, another page in the books has been written. Thomas Bolton's +1000 day reign as champ comes to a close as Abel Marques powered his way to the top this year. After finally getting serious about it, he set out to get the best set of times since probably forever. The last time we saw the crown threatened was when Ben Stoneman got all of his times into the top 10. This nearly got him ahead of Thomas over 2 years ago but as these matters are usually up to the kart gods, it wasn't meant to be. Abel already had some WR's under his belt so he was no stranger to getting good times. He made it a mission to improve and well pretty much kept his word. Joining just outside the top 100, he karted all the way to the top 25 in his first year and then reached the top 10 a year after that. This eventually set the stage for what was to come finishing last year as #3 before making the final push to World Champion. His dedication and skill is more than luck and further proof the lowest of the low can ascend to the ranks of gods! So what can we expect in the future? Well, the AF difference at the top isn't huge so anything is still possible really. While Abel holds overall #1 on prb, there is still the matter of WR tally which Thomas still leads with 28 non-sc times. Abel's biggest threat looming not so far behind is David Roldan who has 16 non-sc times in his name. Anyone who isn't a stranger to kart knows activity matters. Nothing in kart is safe and since all of these toppies have put out WR's this year, there is no telling what will happen. It's been so long since the title switched between players and this will remain a testament to Thomas' dominance of time trials over the years. Thanks for giving me something to update over the years and the hope there will be more WR's to come! mkds4ever!!! |
